Hmmm, Circle K is one of the nearest gas stations where I live. Anyway, I was thinking about picking a few characters to add to my Melee main, Falco. It be Pikachu, Dr. Mario, and Sheik.

  • Pikachu has good recovery. I would choose him against Marth.
  • Dr. Mario has that cape that can send fox flying the other direction.
  • And sheik I'm pretty good at already. I probably use her to fight Peach. I don't like Peach vs Falco.
  • Another might be Kirby. He was my first main I played back in 2003. That was some fun time back then.

I have a question for you guys: Who has the best/worst recovery in each SSB game?

For Brawl's best it's Meta Knight. Worst is Ganondorf

For Smash 4's best it's Villager or Olimar. Worst is Little Mac.

Smash 64 best is Kirby. Worst is Link.

Melee's best is Peach or Puff. That umbrella is invincible. Upsmash kills Jiggs easier. Mewtwo is good too. Pika is hard to predict. Ness is really bad, easy to spike or interrupt.

Welp I tried. Link is not too bad in Melee.

Those are some pretty good characters. Sheik is always really easy to play. I've started to play Jigglypuff in melee because I can barely play melee after playing Project m for so long.

I think I just found a new main, as I've been using Little Mac a lot lately

Pfff, I main Jiggly, I'll shrek you any day.  B)

But seriously, Little Mac may well have the steepest downward curve in feasibility. He is god-tier for beginners, but one of the least common characters in tournaments. Of course, that's not a bad thing, and I like seeing people get good with low-tier characters, as opposed to those Rosalina scrubs...  :eww:

Good luck with the Mac!

Psh, Rosalina is a fun character, but I would never pick her competitively, it's Shulk and Villager all the way baby

Could anybody help me with choosing some new characters to use?

So King Dedede is the character I use the most in SSB4. For me, I like how he takes a lot of hits, but can also hit hard too. He has been the character I've been playing for so long that I kind of want to try somebody different for a change. If anybody has some recommendations, please do tell me.

Also, what are the differences between Brawl Dedede and SSB4 Dedede competitive-wise? Did he overall got buffed or nerfed?

King Dedede saw both nerfs and buffs. Certain strengths and ranges were altered and whatnot. You can find super in depth statistics on all of that here: http://www.ssbwiki.com/King_Dedede_%28SSB4%29

Overall it sounds like Dedede is more balanced, so perhaps not as powerful as in Brawl.

Did anyone else here have a problem with the lag and button delays during SSB4 online match? I'm not sure if any of you guys have noticed the lag and button delays during the online matches because for me, it's hard for me to execute the attacks with the lag going on right now.

I noticed the game would lag a bit in SSB4 on the 3DS version. (haven't played online in the Wii U version yet) I also noticed the inputs were sometimes a bit delayed. too.

Downloaded Mewtwo today, since he's finally widely available for purchase. :yay:

He's good, pretty much his Melee moveset refined, definitely feels more viable at first than he did there to me. Floaty though.

I might have said this a while back, but has anyone considered creating a 3DS/WiiU Smash Bros tournament for the forums? You could have 1v1 with a third person, supervising the match, or even teams. I think it would be a pretty neat thing to have for those competitive players. I'll most likely start it if anyone else is interested, but I have to put more thought into how things would work.

There will be downside parts when you guys host the SSB tournament around here. one is the lag and button delays as I mentioned because it's hard to execute attacks like that and the other is good connection being preferred so it's easy enough to avoid people who has bad connection.

3DS is kinda hard to play competitively, partially because the circle pad kinda sucks. I will VERY often try to do a sideB and end up using a downB, (as a Jigglypuff main this is absolutely terrible) or try to use a downB and use a neutralB, or try to use a dash attack and use an Fsmash, or try to use a smash and use a tilt, etc.

The best that can be said for the 3ds version is that it's not specifically cross platform. Meaning that if you do decide to compete on it, everyone else is in the same boat.

I can see where that would be a problem, and it gets annoying when a 2 minute match last for 5+ minutes. I'm surprised I was able to win matches like that.

What I was thinking was having the two versions separate. Everyone does not have a WiiU (like me), but if it does come to it, then the WiiU version will be the only one and someone other than me will supervise.

I finally got the 3DS version of Smash 4 recently and I am enjoying it, as a handheld experience they nailed it for Smash. I still have not tried things like Smash run though. However, I have one huge complaint, the lack of variety and options in the fights themselves. I clearly remember in Melee you could have many different modifiers for the matches, like speedy fights, specific handicaps for interesting match ups, huge and tiny fighters, things like that. None of that is in this one and that does disappoint me. It still is really fun though.

The WarioWare Inc. stage is amazing. Absolutely my favorite stage in the entire series.

(edited)

I might be going to a local Smash tournament this summer. :D

Not sure if I should do Project M or Wii U though...

EDIT: If I do end up going I'll be doing Wii U. I'm simply too new to PM.
