Is it absurd that puppy love and hormones with CMC won't be done?

So many fans seem to hiss and spit at the mere suggestion of DHX doing episodes that put CMC in situation s with their bodies changing, taking notice of the opposite sex, etc, when the fact of the matter is- younger audiences that the CMC once related to are growing or have grown up and undergoing/undergone such changes. The main draw of the mane6 was that they were relatable and the show presented real life morals and situations with them.

So why shouldn't the CMC get the same treatment with the issue of puberty, puppy love, and such?

They are still fillies in the show so that kind of thing wouldn't be appropriate for them to know about all that much, and remember that the show is geared towards six to ten year old girls. Hasbro have no intention of including content that would go against that age group otherwise they would have to deal with controversy they don't want.

I recall g1 having baby (clone) ponies of their mothers, and g1.5 having ponies falling in love with boy ponies through the entire series, in spite of mlp and Mlp Tales aimed at such a young audience. No real reason why g4 couldn't do the same, I think. It's no less controversial than DBZ fights, demons, communism, brainwashing, mind controlling your friends (several times), and all THAT is....

I think it would be interesting and sweet to have the CMC moving into slightly older roles and finding love. It doesn't mean it has to be adult, it's just an interesting way to keep the characters fresh and engaging. Characters need to evolve. The CMC got their Cutie Marks when the time was right, and other characters developed (Twilight's wings, etc.) in the appropriate ways and times. Why not take the CMC to another level? Keeping things the same throughout a show now entering its seventh season is not wise, and it's important that it not get stagnant. Things have to change and I think this is a logical and fun step to take.

Puberty is always such and awkward and terrible time for those going through it, so I don't see why you would want to see the CMC go through it.

Plus it is pretty easy to just use them getting their cutie marks as a symbolic version of them experiencing puberty.

Some aspects of adolescence are qrotesque all by itself. We don't need any of that in a show like MLP. Surely the Crusaders will learn love when they're older, fillies at that age group are a little bit too young to be looking for coltfriends.

they don't necessarily have to be looking for coltfriends. kids get pulled, hair pulled, pushed, etc. as young kids, because of puppy love, and boys don't know how to show it through any other means. (usually) could be a phase of that sort of thing that they go through.

If you have noticed the mane 6 are young adults who don't seem to have no interest in dating (apart from Rarity). That is far more unrelatable with how long the show has gone on. CMC puppy love episodes would be cringe worthy and cutie marks are good enough metaphor for puberty, we don't need discus about pony bodies changing. If we need puberty Spike would be better since he is a dragon and that would be more interesting. What we need is some adult character to have a romance or just a hint of it that is not for characters that just show up like Cadance and Shining Armor and Cranky and Matilda or romance just being used negatively or for humor like with Rarity stuff and the Hearts and Hooves day episode.

Back then in the 1980s, rules and regulations regarding cartoons were a lot different. While they have relaxed on certain issues in recent years, they have taken a stricter action towards other issues. Oh, and with regards to anime, most of it gets toned down when dubbed over here to conform to standards and practices in American media. The ones that get to keep their content are given MA and R ratings respectively.

The only thing lacking is something between CMC ages and the age the Mane 6 are at. It would be something if they could make a pony that is between that age gap.

The difference with MLP Tales is that they weren't focused in attracting new members of the franchise target audience (little girls), they wanted to appeal to the SAME target audience they had back in the first show. Audience who by the time MLP Tales hit the market, would be in their teens. FiM however, apart of Equestria Girls, showed no intention in keeping the same audience who have grown-up, they want to attract new audience, and not bother with the former fans who had grown-up

I don't think I can answer the question due to the proposition you assume in the title assumes something I don't see sourced. I will address this though ...

What the hell kind of school did you go too?

 :wau:

This sure as hell wasn't that common when I was the CMC's age, and it sure as hell was not common when my two children were their age. I had some adolescent crushes, I guess, but I sure as hell never experienced immature violence over a girl. I know high school can be rough, but elementary school and middle school are tame by comparison.

Phenomenal response snowflame. The show always works best with me when they use metaphor (the cutie marks as the coming of age element) and subtlety. The best bildungsroman concepts and tropes are subtle, and they did one well with the cutie marks. I also would like to see at least the beginnings of romance for an adult characters. Looking at the Season 7 episode synopses we may get a touch of that.

The CMC are exceptionally late bloomers and it took them an additional 3 years minimum to get their Cutie Marks after they were first introduced back in Season 1

Besides, finding one's Cutie Mark is already pretty much a puberty analog for Ponies, where you try everything until you find something to do for the rest of your life whether you like it or not

It wouldn't be a bad idea to explore that in future episodes considering that it could add a fresh slant to their future stories. I don't know if it's absurd. But, it may be a shame that these characters in particular will likely remain static in many ways other than their cutie marks and that actually didn't change much.

I feel the Cutie Mark storyline is more than enough concerning their bodies changing. It's not like equine biology translates all that well to humans, even cartoon equines. Showing romantic interest of any kind wouldn't be bad, though. They're at the age they should be getting some interest in other ponies, at least.
