PunkVinyl 13 August 5, 2013 Share August 5, 2013 My friends and family don't care. My mom knows that I like My Little Pony, and she thinks my hat with Vinyl Scratch is cute. When I told her I liked My Little Pony, she just shrugged and said "Well, I like gnomes so I'm in no position to judge you". I don't think my daiendd really cares at all either. My friends don't care either. I have a lot of internet friends that are bronies, and my IRL friends don't care. They know that I still like Pokemon and all that so me liking MLP doesn't bother them.
Lunas Husband 2,777 August 5, 2013 Share August 5, 2013 (edited) Why would you want to be a closet brony anyway? MLP is great and not one darn thing wrong with watching it or loving it, so why do you want to hide it? and here are some more reasons as to you may wish to come out..... Egghead 46 August 6, 2013 Share August 6, 2013 My laptop is more pony than computer, but I'm still not so open about ponies to my parents, but they know generally that I watch it. Someday I plan to really explain the fandom and all that, but now today. And of course my friends don't care at all, and since I use my laptop at school everyone can see my pony wallpapers and EQD as my homepage. “The road goes ever on and on,Down from the door where it began,Now far ahead the road has gone,And I must follow if I can.” http://soaranddash.tumblr.com http://politetosociety.tumblr.com http://www.fimfiction.net/user/TheEgghead

~Silver Essence~ 2,625 August 12, 2013 Share August 12, 2013 Since I haven't told my dad, I once told a joke about ponies and he questioned where did that come from. I told him I just made it up. X/
GhostPony750 959 August 12, 2013 Share August 12, 2013 The first time I watched the first episode, it was under my pillow at midnight with no sound. I never got caught, but I told my parents, my friends and my sister later.
Dark Horn 430 August 12, 2013 Share August 12, 2013 Not really sure what to say. I mean, my parents know I like My Little Pony, but they are under the illusion that bronies are a "group of gay men", and thus I don't call myself a brony in front of them. But I'm uber-careful when I watch MLP, and always have my back to a wall when I am doing pony-related stuff. Sylentmana 271 August 12, 2013 Share August 12, 2013 My family has yet to question me about it. I think they just think it's another one of my quirks or they are trying to ignore it. I wear pony buttons on occasion and my phone and work computers have pony backgrounds so there is no way they haven't noticed. In space, no one can hear you squee! BrainyBrony 252 August 12, 2013 Share August 12, 2013 I was once messing around with some 'Desktop Ponies' I had downloaded when my dad walked in on me. I turned off the screen and it went like this: Dad: So, what are ya' doing? Me: Just watching some videos. Dad: Why is your monitor off? Me: ...Uh Dad turns on screen and sees ponies walking around on the forums Dad: What is this? Me: Just a funny thing I downloaded. Dad: Is it a virus? Me: No, I checked. Dad: It looks like a virus. What's it called? Me: It's not a virus! Dad: Okay then. Dad walks out Yeah, I'm lucky that he didn't ask why there was 50 Derpy Hooves walking around my desktop saying "Muffins..." and "I just don't know what went wrong!". Tual 152 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 (edited) Well, the only people I have to keep it secretive about are from my father, and his girlfriend. My mother is completely cool with it. Seriously, my mom may normally be a very bad person, but she's probably the most nicest around me when we talk about ponies. (Though, she tends to ignore me a lot during it, but it is fine. She's actually being nice for once at least.) One thing she says that I tend to like is:" I'm getting worried...I'm starting to memorize what cutiemarks the ponies you have-have, and what ones you don't." I also watched a couple episodes in the first season with her, but she didn't get uber interested. BUT she is curious about Discord. So I gotta try to get her watching... (She saw pictures of him, and I've spoke about him before. (Not in spoiling detail, though.))ANYHOO. So, me, and my brother were helping my father and his girlfriend unpack things, as they recently moved and such. Now, the girlfriend was starting to randomly collect barbies, and while putting stuff on the shelf, I ended up pulling out a Pinkie Pie. (The bright lights one, or something. Light-up necklace.(AndIwasabitjealousasIonlyhadonewithcuthairfromthethriftstore.Butshh.) I commented on it, saying something along the lines of: "Oh, you like My Little Pony?" and she just said that she wanted to start collecting them, as she liked them as a kid. I replied with: " Oh, I started collecting them, too. Generation four really got me into the ponies, even the earlier generations, but I never liked them as a kid." My father found out, and got really mad at me. Y'know, the typical "You're too old for this", blah, blah blah. (The whole restriction of it bugs me though as I'll get drawing ideas of pony, but I can't draw them at his place...'Cause...Yeah.) Him running into the conversation of pony happened a few times. Another time at a mall, I accidentally said some-thing pony related, and he got all mad again, and started questioning why I liked it, how I could like it, and such. I explained, and he just got more mad, and randomly made me apologize to his girlfriend for some reason.. And one time, I had some money from the holidays or something, and I was allowed to spend it. I really, really wanted a Funrise Pinkie Pie plushie, ( Sadly, only a small one was able.) so I got one. He wouldn't stop glaring at me. He said: " Seriously? Why do you want this stuff? You used to collect action figures, go back to that at least." I replied: " Well, I still somewhat do, but..Would you rather me collect Barbies? I mean, Meg does, and..Y'know." He said "No." and we didn't speak for a while. So, yeah. I pony everywhere, but not when with them. (I mainly just don't talk about it or anything. Just in respect, as my father really doesn't like it.) Heck, I got a pony backpack (luckily) that I plan on wearing in September. It's got alicorn Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack on it. And a rainbow in the background. And glitter. It's actually pretty amazing. Edited August 14, 2013 by Tual
Kaska 30 August 19, 2013 Share August 19, 2013 Yea.. Yea alot. If someone wants to see what music I have. Once I paused an episode and left it on the desktop whilst playing a game. RiverHaze 27 August 19, 2013 Share August 19, 2013 No I have the luck to have my own apartment, so I can do brony/mlp related stuff with only my cat knowing about it. John 793 August 20, 2013 Share August 20, 2013 I was on forums and I had my headphones on. My sister walked in on me and was like "what are you doing?" Sapphire Quill 1,186 August 20, 2013 Share August 20, 2013 Multiple times to be honest, but I didn't mind any of the times, I was a closet brony for a time, but I ended up seeing coming out was the best thing I did, I hid for a while, and I regret it now, my mother had seen me a few times on these forums, and asked what I was doing... I ended up covering it up stating it was for a girl, but she ended up finding out later, but I'm not one to lie very well. ✧ Made by Azura, Much Appreciated ✧

Cerbyrus 63 August 20, 2013 Share August 20, 2013 Yep. I was watching it at school and my computer teacher saw. He announced it to the entire class. I lost some major tomboy points Actually, I would say your teacher lost more ''tomboy points'' then you'd ever do. If he's immature enough to make fun of you for watching something, I wouldn't dare to say that that's a great teacher. He could've just said 'please just keep to your work' or something like that. Anyways, no. My parents have seen me watch MLP from time to time, but I don't care. I like the show, they know it, and they have no problem with me watching it. GXPBlast 597 May 13, 2014 Share May 13, 2014 (edited) Anyone here get caught unintentionally revealing that your were a brony? Basically your either a full blown closet brony or you only reveal your bronyness to fellow bronies but for some reason you accidentally reveal your brony identity to people you would have not liked would have known. For me there have been some very close calls with my parents but luckily I was quick to react before they caught fully comprehend what was on my screen. It can range from leaving your computer on and forgetting to lock it and somebody sees your background or sees you on MLPforums, or you can be wearing headphones on and not hear the person walking into the room you are on your computer in.Or even worse if you are into NSFW materials of MLP being caught looking at that would definitely cause an uproar.Anything similar happen to you guys? Also if so what was the event that led to your unintentional reveal? How did the person react whether it be a friend or family and was the outcome positive or negative? If it was negative what hell were you put through by this person and what precautions have you taken to prevent unintentional brony revealing again? Just curious. Im not ashamed of being a brony tho. Its kind of worse actually. Sure getting caught watching NSFW materials can be awkward. But most guys can relate to that as it relates to human stuff. Being caught just looking at MLP stuff depending on the people who surround you can be looked down upon big time. Especially for people who are not so outgoing and look at MLP for an escape from the negatives in their life and actually give them hope. I have heard stories where parents and the people who surround some bronies will use MLP as an excuse of why they are messed up in the head and being a show originally targeted for little girls would have parents and other people one surrounds them self with question their masculinity or sexuality. Most logical people know MLP has nothing to with ones masculinity of success in life as it just a really good sow with an awesome fan base. But of course many people are quick to judge and how the media portrays bronies definite does not help our cause.
