n1029 229 November 18, 2017 Share November 18, 2017 He posted a column today and at the end he implied he was moving on completely from the franchise http://www.talkhouse.com/magical-introduction-world-bronies/ I'd understand. He's been with it for awhile and I imagine making the film was a pretty draining experience. You have problems with it currently, you take them up with Big Jim Miller. I think there is a noticeable difference in their directorial styles, for better and for worse. When Thiessen was at the helm the show was focused more on simple narratives and slapstick, while Miller has generally drifted toward more complex, dialogue driven storylines (Starlight Glimmer's post reformation characterization is probably the most easily noticeable evidence of this). It doesn't always work to an episode's benefit but I appreciate how they're not afraid to experiment. Edited November 19, 2017 by n1029

Either way I just wished someone just anyone; writer, director, editor, or co-director just to take a huge step of making the show. So far the episodes are becoming repetitive and the lessons are becoming less meaningful. I don't know what's holding them back but I just think it's time for them to step up their game and turn the show away from "little girls show" domain. Moreover, I don't like Big JIm ever since this post (https://www.equestriadaily.com/2016/10/big-jim-on-making-show-for-little-girls.html) a total loss of respect for him. I will admit that Jayson thessen was at least descent than Jim. ♪ "I practice every day to find some clever lines to say, to make the meaning come through"♪

I will admit that Jayson thessen was at least descent than Jim. I liked Big Jim more for that post, he speaks a lot of truth in that and to those that want to be stuck in their bubble wanting you hear their bias parroted back at them like a reassured child I have a message: "In this world ... in this reality ... you reap what you sow. The show was made for a specific demographic. If that doesn't fit a narrative for some ... that's not the show's fault. That's not the staff's fault. But it sure is someone's fault. Care to guess who? Sibsy and him are dead right. No fan is entitled to anything. For a fandom that gets all bent out of shape over being told they like watching a show made for little girls, some of them certainly act the age. Children! " #WhereAreTheAdults I'll double down for him. Season 7 is the best season this show has produced. As far as JT, he was a phenomenal supervising director, and I am glad he took some positives from this experience as he moves on to the next chapter of his career and life.
n1029 229 November 19, 2017 Author Share November 19, 2017 (edited) I really appreciate how Jim Miller is so outspoken about his feelings even if he occasionally does let them get the better of him. It shows he's extremely passionate for his job and while he doesn't always succeed I know he's truly trying to make the best MLP show he can. As long as he's in charge I know MLP is in good hands. Lambdadelta 1,462 November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 Who is better director, Jayson or Jim?. Season 1-4 and half of S5 under Jayson are great with many memorable episodes, very humorous, and many downright classics of all age, i didnt even mention 'unbeatable' Rainbow Rocks. Jim Miller at his best is Season 7, develop many character's development in good direction, Celestia has more character, Starlight popularity improved dramatically (even some her harsher critics even gave her some compliments), Thorax is much better character than i expected, Discord is just not being asshole and get to the next step of his development, Fluttershy continues her character-grown in S6 and keep moving forward etc, and dont forget the lore-building that will open many possibilities for the show. Compare Jayson's 4.5 seasons to Jim's 2.5 seasons, which one is better? I think Jayson is better, episodes in earlier seasons are more simplistic but they are more entertaining in general and they have no lack of good character developments. Jim goes for complexity route, emphasized more character interaction (that why there are less adventure episode and more slice of life, more insight to villain motivations than just defeat them), focus on more mature subjects but sometime sacrificed entertainment value (average episodes getting less fun and memorable, they are too formulaic and playing safe). Jayson's leaving the show, damn, i will miss him. Hope Jim will keep going strong like his S7. Too many good people leaving the show. I am a bit worry for the future. Not just Jayson, the staffs just keeping leaving the show one by one. I am always a bit uncertain about future. Whenever we lose someone who work for the show for that long, it look like not a good sign to me, especially they are competent. 32 minutes ago, Ryanmahaffe said: Jim also has been co directing the show since season 4 and Jayson was really only there for the Cutie Map, Jim did the rest. I would have to agree. Thiessen did a commendable job during his run with FiM. Miller was able to take the mantle almost seamlessly. The show had rough patches under both, but Miller was mostly at the helm for my two favorite seasons of this show, so Pony is in great hands, and arguably the best hands it's been in since the show started.
