planning Fractured Futures: World Building OOC

Dang... I would just love to have this turn into a multi-layered RP world with numerous independent Rps going on from random players XD I'll be working on a more thorough set of descriptions to maybe make that a possibility.

Hmm... I'm sure there's quite a bit of stuff we should probably address... but I think for the time being what we have will suffice for the most part. Unless anyone's got any specific questions they'd like to address here and now. 

As for city descriptions and personal characters, we can type up background and descriptions independently, and I can post them in whatever section it fits, or I could try to keep up on the descriptions myself, though no guarantees it'll be quite what you wanted.

I know we had a back n fourth on how to incorporate the remane 5. But unless somepony is actually gonna play them, I think it's a moot point to have them involved at all. 

As for locales, either for home bases or sources of the infection? West coast has plenty of cities in Van Hoover, Seaddle and Las Pegasus. There's also the bad lands and the Storm Kingdom. Heck, they could be a faction in of themselves. A military power to the south formed from the ashes of the Storm King's domain. Or perhaps they had a hoof in either sending the nano-plague or mutating it.

True, we have kinda mostly stayed in the north, but by no means are we restricted there. And yah, there are a few cities on the west coast, already got Los Pegasus covered, and I imagine there will be other major settlements as we travel further south as well. Still want to keep ruins here and there in between as well, but again, we can invent cities here and there as well. 

As for the main six, we don't really need to worry about them and what they're up to at the moment. Just that they are still around, I don't think anyone will be taking them up anywho. Perhaps they'll be plot devices in the future? 

And the Storm King's domain, or at least the remnants of it... you... perhaps sound interested in exploring such a faction? As one of our world founders, you know you want at least one major faction to control!

I might be able to come up with something. Perhaps it's various non-pony races or sub-races forming an alliance who blame the 3 tribes for destroying all life on the continent. Griffons, Dragons, Zebras, Diamond Dogs, Minotaur, Donkeys, Mules, The Hippogriffs, even Thestrals have all been effected by the plague, and pony kind's attempts have just made things worse. 

Or perhaps they just wanted to be left alone, forming their own colony by the sea, only to be forced into the fray by one of the prior groups, and now it's an us or them fight for survival.

Kind of a hodgepodge of methods, resources, and technological development? Maybe even like raiders, from a certain perspective at least. If nothing else, the harsh conditions of the environment would force them together to some degree I imagine. With the everfree expanse slowly creeping south into the desert, it's only a matter of time before it reaches them too. Maybe not as many infected down south, but the everfree could bring besties that are just as bad, and make the ones already there even worse. 

Was thinking the everfree doesn't necessarily turn the desert into jungle, but has some other adverse effects to it.

It could. Perhaps it stays literal desert, but instead of hot equatorial, it's now cold polar. Have the whole weather and ecosystem be changed as the everfree rolls in. Heck, with no pegasai, the entire continent's climate is thrown into disarray. Winter is no longer gettign wrapped up and Summer isn't being shut down. Instead of just a nanite plague, an entire series of environmental catastrophes could be plaguing the lands.

I can definitely latch onto that idea! Hence the reason only the mega cities truly flourish, they're safe and secured from the hazards of the outside. True, settlements dot the wild lands, but it's a harsh existence. Perhaps the Remnants don't have the proper tech or magical knowledge to create the safe zones. Making them all natural in that regard. Guess that means the pirate haven of Lost Pegasus is gonna have a rougher time than I imagined.

Though, I'd love to see greater ecological disaster than human weather patterns. That's just me though XP like patches of icy sand in the desert mid summer next to swampy quicksand or something. Maybe not that variable, but you get the idea.

Well what do we have for major factions thus far?

• Non-aligned raiders and settlements (?)
• Nanotech horde (?)

There isn't a whole lot, so yeah, we may need a storm lands faction to pad things out.

ah ehem *Changeling Empire* I'll have you know! We have two more major city states on the first page. The pirate city of Lost Pegasus will essentially be the raider faction. New Hayseed is an independent city state as well. 

But yah, basically that sounds about right. 

Think I'm going to try and focus on making a comprehensive description tomorrow, better than what we got on the first page >.< but you seem like the perfect fit for a Storm Lands faction, a realm destroyed and fractured, but still united in their hatred for those who caused this destruction.

Wait now, uhm, which tech in particular are we referring to? The cloning process or the temporal field? Cus... the temporal field is rather unique to Bolt Solutions... 

Well, actually, that liar Lektra seems to think she's the one that created it, but It was really Smaragdus... that's okay, he's rather forgiving if she's willing to relinquish her rights to the arcane formulas related to it and stops using it. If she's polite enough, he'll even help maintain her private one! For a fee of course...

But yes, he was indeed an employee at one point and uses his knowledge and work from the past to continue on now, rendering his services to the more... sinister characters of the wilds. Make no mistake, he stole it from Bolt Solutions when he worked there before the plague. He refuses to acknowledge it as their creation, claiming it as his own. 

Perhaps you need added incentive to hate him? He's been using his Dave clones to go around spreading rumors that Bolt Solutions is responsible for the plague and it's current form. It was all a ploy for them so they could control society. As proof, he points to the entire city they control, and the 'killers' they send out to haul innocent villagers back to serve the company.

And I'm home from school! Anyways Troneon would have a very futuristic appearance as everything in the city would be made out of a navy blue metal and all the buildings and structures would be covered in blue glowing cercit patterns plus the automated machines and bots are no exception to this appearance styling. Plus I was thinking that Troneon would be a big target for survivors and other communities because of how rich they are on resources. So really break in attempts would occur in the city on a daily basis and the survivors that are trying to break in are usually captured and evaluated. If they see that a survivor would be extremely useful to the development of the city like they are a natural top engineer then that survivor would be granted citizenship on the condition that everything they do is closely observed and they are willing to contribute in the development of Troneon. Though otherwise the captured survivors would be ejected from the city and warned about being killed if they return. So really all survivors that come back a second time would end up getting killed.

Great way to get them to go to other cities

Yeah basically you could say that everything in the city would look like it's made of chrome. Anyways the justice system I mentioned there for keeping survivors out would also really discourage them from returning as they seriously would get themselves incinerated by automated plasma turrets if they returned.

Well really it's also because that even though Troneon is around the size of Manehatten it's getting very highly populated and there simply wouldn't be room for the survivors in the city unless they are actually of high value in terms of their innovative consepts and intelligence.

Hey, it's understandable. Overcrowding is defiantly an issue when you think about it. I imagine with their policy, New Everfree would have those issues from time to time as well. Even if they expanded regularly. Maybe not necessarily an issue with a lack of housing or food, but more a clash of values and culture. Ah, but that's getting too much into it... perhaps something to explore in an RP. 

Anyways, forget immigration policy for now, I kind of want to know about your guys' city's defensive infrastructure, police, and military forces. You know, just so I know what we're working with.

Well in Troneon it would have a completely automated security system and there would be bots and turrets that are armed with deadly plasma wepons all around the place. So the military force would be made up of 100% robotic ponies but it would be controlled by the computer systems in the city. But still everything can be manually overridden and controlled by Techno at any time he needs.

Okay, okay, so Troneon is essentially mostly static defense, while New Everfree sounds like it has a thick elastic defense with some static. New Everfree is sounding more and more like a military dictatorship than anything else... not that I mind of course! Also, everyone feel free to take a look at your city on the first page to make sure I got things right. I'll add a military section for your respective cities as well.

On the subject of guns and shields, what exactly will our stances be on those? Will projectile weapons be a common thing or are they more rare, or what's everyone's thought on that? Personally I was going to use flamethrower like abilities and beam type magical projection (like Lektra's towers). Thoughts?
