Rainboom?

Has anyone ever preformed a sonic rainboom before Rainbow Dash? The ponies talk about the rainboom like saiyans talk about super saiyans. So I'm guessing someone else has done it before, and that is how it became legend.

Yeah, that's my guess. It has been done before, but it's extremely rare. Probably because Rainbow Dash is the fastest and best pony, she is the only one currently able to do it

It's had to been done before, otherwise it wouldn't have a name or be legendary to begin with. It may have been a long time since someone did it though, maybe several generations, since, before Rainbow, no current ponies had said to have ever seen one. Dash is probably representing that 'one pegasus in a dozen generations able to do one' sort of deal.

I think before Rainbow performed the titular feat in the episode Sonic Rainboom, it was regarded as an old mare's tale, which means if it was performed before Dash first did (as a filly), then it was probably a long long time ago. Being an event most suitable for her, obviously, the pony who previously performed it first, was probably associated with rainbows, like Dash herself.

 

In fact, I'd kinda want to see an episode in S3 where she, as well as her friends, learned about this legendary and forgotten heroine..... That would be pretty cool.

I'd assume you'd have to be rainbowish to preform one.

The thunderbolts do a thunder rainboom like thing (see at the gala song), which rainbow can't.

A better question is, if everyone saw her perform one when she was a filly ESPECIALLY THOSE TWO GUYS, then why were those 2 guys making fun of her at the young flyers competition and laughing about how "it's only an old mares tale"

I think the first Pony to do it was Captain Hurricane. Or, it's probably prophesized (wrong spelling ) in some book from ancient times that some Pony will one day do it.

Rainbow said "It was just an old mare's tale", so I'm assuming it was the stuff of legends.
