like i said, it probably wont go through completely cuz theres just too many fans in the US for it to be taken away. its literally like taking away pizza.

Plus, I'm sure Obama doesn't want to be remembered as "that one black president who took away Xbox"

Wasn't the XBox 360 made in 2008? It's almost time for a change, anyway.

that is being released this next year at E3 2013

btw most likely will have the unlimited graphics point cloud data rendering... so... seriously look that stuff up it will be epic graphics... dramatically reduce cpu size, power which in turn. makes the console cheaper for us? and better?

he has no power over the courts. but i'm sure the public will blame him anyway XD they always do.

The PS2 is old too. People still use it outside Europe and USA and even now, the graphics are fairly good.

It doesn't really matter how many fans would be pissed off. The important part of this situation is that Microsoft is in violation of intellectual property patents, which is an extremely serious matter. Courts really have no choice but to ban the Xbox 360, if they wanted to be fair to patent holders, which they should.

Microsoft is an old company, they know better than the screw around and think they can do whatever they want, and if this case is ruled in their favor, it's just showing people that if you have enough money, rules don't apply to you.

I agree with Shaw in this case ... need to protect patent holders and their intellectual property, why else would it be patented but to protect it? If Microsoft was paying attention, they could have used different codecs ... ones that did not violate a patent.

Also, you guys are completely getting this matter confused. It is the ban of SALES of the Xbox 360. This only happens at the retail level. Regular people like you and I can still sell ours. People can still use theirs fine. It's just that new ones cannot be sold by companies or industries.

Aren't, like, most good xbox games made for PC too? I don't see the big deal here other than Microsoft finally getting their flank handed to them.

Also this might not have been such a big deal if this was discovered right when the 360 came out, but the fact that they've been using this w/out Motorola's permission for over half a decade makes this a much bigger deal.

In the end though, there won't be too much of a problem b/c Microsoft has enough products besides the xbox to keep their buisness running anyways. Even a major lawsuit wouldn't hurt their massive bank account that much

Eh, I doubt this would ever happen, but it did catch my eye.

Even if it does happen, who needs XBOX? I got my PC. B)

Edit: I just remembered that Microsoft is making a new gaming console anyway in 2013. If this does happen everyone will need to hold until then.

Edit 2: Also, what about the XBOX games? Are they still gonna sell those?

They should've banned it years ago. Then maybe games like Skyrim of Assassins Creed would've actually gotten PC versions, not ports with shotty controls.

PC gamer here. Ban the 360 for all I care :D

*Blinks* I smell clickbait here.. there's no way that the capitalist government would ban something that brings in a lot of money. It would be like banning alcohol and cigarettes. Think about it, do people really think that it will go ahead? I mean, this sounds like another case of "Oh, this already has it in it, you took it and claim it was yours, okay it is yours and the thing that originally had it" then the "judge" who probably 1) has a grudge against microsoft and 2) has a thing against video games wants to ban it.

lol this was a thread from 2012 guys, nothing's gonna happen, and the court decision was either overturned or MS found a way around it
