Speaking of Netflix, I showed my friend Phineas mlp on netflix and he said he didn't like it. I was fine with that but I still wanted to know why he didn't like it. I asked him and he replied that he didn't like the animation.

As others have mentioned, it's not really a shout out to the community. The "20% cooler" line is one actually said by Rainbow Dash during "Art of the Dress" in the episode "Suited for Success". Bronies have definitely taken up the phrase (and for good reason), but it wasn't spawned from fans at all.

 

Not that there is anything wrong with using "20% cooler" to describe ponies.

I just seriously think that the chances of them picking that of all phrases which became one of the most popular among bronies is small.
