Am I the only one who quite liked Season 6?

I've seen a lot of people talk about how Season 6 is the show's worst, but I frankly disagree. Admittedly, Season 6 had its fair share of duds ("Newbie Dash" is one of the worst episodes of the entire show, IMO), but they were outweighed by the good/great episodes like "Stranger Than Fanfiction", "The Saddle Row Review", "Top Bolt". Another reason I liked Season 6 was that it endeared me to the character of Starlight Glimmer. Plus, we got not one, but TWO good Spike episodes this season.

Am I alone in feeling this way?

First, there’s a difference between, “I think Season six is the worst,” and “I don’t like Season six.” I do believe season sixis the worst season, but there are still many things that I like about season six. I just don’t think it’s high’s are better than it’s lows.

But that’s just me, I’ve seen many people say they like Season six, even a few who rank it among the best.

As power given to me by @Jeric

Season 6 is a good season. I liked it because it had some of my favorite episodes in it. I don't remember the name off the top of my head but I'm sure Season 6 had the Christmas episode with starlight being a scrooge. Some fantastic songs were in that episode along with some fantastic fan remixes.

I myself actually liked Season 6 as well. It was relatively low-key (well, except for the whole "Changelings capture the princesses and mane six", though that finale was relatively subdued compared to the Season 4 and 5 finales), with episodes like Dungeons and Discords, Applejack's Day Off, No Second Prances and Every Little Thing She Does. Nevertheless I thought it was pretty amusing all around.

I think I'd go as far as to say that it's up there with Season 7 in terms of how much I like it. Though Season 7 had several great episodes and was a really solid season, there were a few duds that REALLY brought down that season (looking at you, Fluttershy Leans In and Fame and Misfortune! :P) So when I say it's up there with Season 7, I mean that, sure, it had less "epic!" episodes, but it didn't have as many thoroughly disappointing episodes.

Glad you enjoyed that season that much. :) Mine's Season 5.

BTW, forgot to mention, but Top Bolt is also probably one of my favorite episodes in the entire show. I just love Sky and Vapor as characters, and their interactions with T-Sparks and the Dashinator   Teachers Dash and Twilight also helped make the episode.

Until this season, S6 was my favorite season, beating out S4 after it concluded. Now it's S8>S6>S4>S2>S1>S7>S5>S3. Besides S7 being Spike's breakout season, a lot of episodes many hated like "Newbie Dash," "AJs Day Off," "Every Little Thing She Does," and "PPOV" I actually enjoyed. In fact, the only episode I didn't really enjoy was "28 Pranks Later."

Adding up all those loved and liked episodes makes S6 stand up nicely to all the other seasons. In fact, there are something like 2 or 3 episodes I didn't care for in S8 so by that measure I should still have S6 as my favorite. But I give S8 bonus points for tackling topics the show has shied away from in seasons past, and for giving us a great villain in Cozy.

Time might shift things though. Aspects I find amazing now might not be as exciting years down the road. For example, I happened upon the third act of "Lesson Zero" again recently and found it to be the most amazing thing to behold and made me long for when the show had that kind of tone. I guess that means could still see S2 (or some other season) topping the list again someday after enough time has passed following the end of Gen 4.

I really enjoyed season 6 at the time, and most of the episodes which I've chosen to revisit hold up splendidly. I've often found myself defending it on the forums; I'd say I enjoy it way more than the very popular seasons immediately before and after it. I think a lot of the story ideas are very creative, I like how simple a lot of the episodes are, and I think it's the last time most of the show's attempts at complexity paid off. I think it's quite good.

it just might be my favorite season so far, even though it has some tough competition
- lets get things from the begining, the 2part opener "the crystaling" it was an awesome episode, i neve really was one of those who hate Flurry Heart, she was a great way to create conflict without having another vilain

Spoiler

she has the potential to be the greatest vilain the show has ever seen, without even realising she is one, though i don't see them going the Kid vilain route again, since they kinda did that with Cozy Glow(and Failed miserably)

-moving on, On your Marks, CMC episodes are always a welcome site for me
-Gauntlet of Fire, we get to dwell deeper in Dragon Culture, and see spike act as the hero once more, a really nice episode
-and now come the Big guns. "No second Prances" is one of my favorite episodes in the whole show, it brings back Trixie, but with a twist, as she is now with the 'good guys'(gals?) and it also shows us a side of Starlight we didn't know, she slowly becomes one of the greatest characters too, and it all starts here
-Newbie Dash while not the greatest of episodes, Rainbow achieving her life-long Dream, but not without hicups, is as it should be, so i'll leave it to that
- "a Hearts Warming Tail" now this episode just did absolutely everything right, I adore how Spike-Twilight relationship is portrayed here, with the subtlety and not blatand, spike going for more hot coco, and Twilight groaning, but without any trace of actual annoyance in her, the rolling of eyes, and the absolute best part of the whole episode, Twilight doing her Pinkie Pie voice, Starlight noting it, Spikes laught, and Twilight's reaction to all this, the little things go a long way, but lets move to the actual tale, it kept enough elements from the original to leave no doubt about what it was, but put a twist in many of those elements, in just about the right way, had some really nice references, was getting cut at just the right place to go to them reading it, and had an origin story for snowfall frost, even better than the actual origin story Starlight had, it had tons of amazing new costumes/manestyles, and to top it all it also had 4 amazing songs including Luna's first solo song, but lets not make this a post too long(i kinda did already) so i'll skip some episodes which, while really nice, got overshadowed by those great ones around them, and try to talk less about the rest
-and by that i of course mean "stranger than Fanfiction" the best Daring Do Episode, and i don't say that lightly, i really love all her episodes,it's just awesome
-28 pranks later. i can see why many dislike it, but honestly, i loved the fact that they revisited the prankster side of Rainbow dash
- Times they are changeling now this one, is also one of the greats imo, i loved how it made the changelings actually have individuality, which they lacked so far,(besides their queen of course) Thorax is an absolute sweetroll, and Spike was masterfully written, he got his first solo song, and nailed it, i hope he gets more, and the fact that he screwed up the first time, and had to go find Thorax and try again made it so much more believable, you don't always do the right thing under pressure, and i'm glad it was shown(even though i felt really bad for Thorax at the time)
- Dungeons & Discords A discord Episode done right, and even more spike developement, plus, giving Big Mac some more personality, they make a nice team, for the background if not for main plotlines, and was glad to see it revisited later on
- Buckball season was just such a joy to watch, as it's to be expected with fluttershy-pinkie combo
- the faults in our cutie marks, once again, CMC episodes are always welcome, and this one was particularly great
- Every little thing she does was also really enjoyable, seeing Twilight interact with the others, in her own unique way
- PPOV had some nice costumes and momments, but was overal a terrible episode
- Top Bolt was a really nice episode imo, and i also absolutely loved Vapor Trails design
- and then comes my All time favorite finale, and i doubt they'll top it anytime soon(along with S2 finale which was also flawless) the Starlight,Trixie,Thorax,Discord combo was absolutely amazing, and their chemistry was handled masterfully, on top of that, they face Chrysalis, which is one of, if not The best vilain the show has ever seen(only Discord comes close in my book), and that twist of actually converting all the Changelings instead of just defeating them and saving the heroes, Chrysalis being sour and turning down that offer also makes it so much more real, you don't just change your ways so easily when you're a leader, especially not because those who just defeated you say so, she felt betrayed by her hive, and had every right to want revenge instead(as Starlight did) i actually believe they'll revisit her and have her reform at some point, though it's not something i'd like to see

and that's why i loved this season, it has some of the best episodes, and many great ones in between, and the rest were still enjoyable, i honestly don't see why would anyone not like it

The only one? Surely, you jest. Season 6 may have arguably had the weakest premiere, but it also had only two episodes that I really and truly felt were somewhat below average, those being Applejack's "Day" Off and The Cart Before the Ponies. Yes, I am ready to brace the storm, I actually liked Newbie Dash and 28 Pranks Later. They may be mean-spirited, but they're entertainingly mean-spirited to me. :mlp_icwudt: I also could never bring myself to dislike the season that made Starlight Glimmer awesome, introduced Thorax, and set a new, higher standard for the quality of Spike episodes. Like, come on. :maud:

@Trix or Treat? and @TwilySparky I beckon you with dark magics bestowed upon me by Geoffrey the Giraffe. How do you feel about Season 6?

Excuse me, you're not gonna call on the resident Thorax fan? *Squee!* you, Jeric!

*Ahem*. Season 6 was amazing, albeit it definitely wasn't the best season overall. We got the cutest character on the entire show since Fluttershy (cuter in my opinion, fight me), and the fairy buggos, which, though initially very mixed in reactions, I've always been a fan of. And the outcome aside, the entire finale, and its focus on side characters (namely reformed villains and members of species seen as villains) was truly an epic event.

"Every Little Thing She Does" is another episode where the backlash just confuses me.  Must mostly be the anti Starlight crowd.

I like the finale, "To Where and Back Again", but I felt that it had problems that "School Raze" improved on.

I enjoyed this Season quite a bit. There were a ton of great episodes and had my favourite finale, thus far.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I wouldn't consider the finale to be my favorite, but it's definitely the most refreshing and off kilter.
