Post a tour of your domain!

Well we have a post a tour of your room and house thread, so why not a tour of your domain thread!

By domain i mean the area(s) around your home that aren't in it (such as a yard or field, woods, etc). Anyway here's mine (note that it's 4 parts and over 30 minutes long, so you may not want to watch it [or at least all of it]):

In the following you can expect danger, excitement, many plants, and general randomness. Keep an eye out for foreshadowing! Also i did it on my ipod so the walking segments are a bit bumpy. (It only lets me imbed two videos so that's why parts three and four don't show up):

Part one:

Part two:

(Sorry for double post, but it only lets me do two media files a post and i couldn't figure out how to not make it embed the video):

Part three (This one is still processing at the time of this typing and may not be HD yet):

Part four:

Near the end of video 2 you ask about a flower.

That's called Queen Anne's Lace.

I'm in awe of how much natural scenery you own and can walk through completely alone with nobody around. Absolute silence, those videos were great!

I'm going to have to find an opportunity perhaps early in the weekend morning to film my set of videos, for there is a ton of people where I am and are usually making noise and mowing their lawns, etc.

Ah right! The vague thoughts in my mind were far from what it was called lol. And thanks for the compliments :) It is really nice to just be able to walk around back there.

Sweet Celestia.... that is amazing man. It looks so beautiful and relaxing. I would love to have a backyard like that, but I have a crappy small backyard that is nothing special. The only special thing is the view. It's right next to a lake and there are swans swimming around all the time. Sometimes they will come up to you and wait for you to feed them.

That's a very nice outdoor vista. You're not a transcendentalist writer by chance, are you, as those places look perfect for writing poetry. At least it's a nice place to read poetry even if you don't write it. Sometime you should go out to your stumphouse and read some Walt Whitman or Ralph Waldo Emerson out loud.

As for my backyard, there isn't much grass, and it's not too large, but we have some tall trees and a stone walkway, stairs, and chimney along with a little house that my dad and I along with our mason built. It's next to a pine tree that I got in elementary school for arbor day along with all the other kids. I planted it when I got home that day, and it's been growing ever since. My dad even took special concern to keep it safe from workmen when they were building the new deck onto our house. There's also a little stone pond we also built that has some coy swimming around. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

I would love to see a picture of it sometime. That is just three acres of backwoods, boon-land we cleared to put a trailer on when I was a kid. I just wanted to relive some of it, by telling you all about that chunk of dirt. Thanks for looking. tongue.png

Funny you mention that. I spent many-a-day sitting in those woods doodling and writing, before I was old enough to even know that was a career option. I also raised a fair bit of hell.

If I had better handwriting, I'd do the same. It's also been raining for the past three days. Someday I'm going to lay down on the stone walk and just let the sky rain down on me. It seems like it would be nice and relaxing.

Someday is never mate. Just go do it. We take our time for granted, something I am sorely reminded of looking at these pictures. Just my two cents. tongue.png

No, my friend. I don't believe you are correct in thinking that is your backyard. It is quite obviously the woods, and your house is just on a clearing in the land.
I am also now convinced that there is the same terrain spanning out 360' for several miles, and that you are in fact lost.

Stuff.

I was just joking around a little. In all seriousness, this place looks wicked.

I wouldn't mind a place like that, as it seems like a very beautiful and serene place to live. There must be quite a few travel issues, though.

I could not have put it better myself. Yes, yes and yes. Winter is hell. You will notice the truck. Well, that is not mine. This is. (This is a different house, I was mowing at the time when i took this picture.)

We all have 4WD. Every single one of us that lives on that ridge.

Ah, fairy 'nuff. Judging by your comment, it must snow quite a bit during the winter. No snow here, sadly.

I don't really know anything about cars, but looks like this one is rather nice.

Just a decked out Ford F150. Sometimes it snows like beat hell, other times, sky is clear as a whistle. When it does come down though, it is worth every penny for the truck.

I see, nice. Yeah, it would be a lifesaver in many situations, and it would be an advantage when living so far out, away from the city.

Aaaaw far out man... I would be so happy to have land like that. Like even if I was living in a tent... I would be so happy haha (well... providing the nights are cool to like... freezing haha and the days aren't humid like where I am haha).

That is a gorgeous yard you have there! So totally jealous of all the trees. We need to plant some trees in our yard. That's the one thing we are lacking most I think.

I love the idea for this post!

We recently had to cut down a dying tree, and kept the wood to use in our fire pit.
