AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! WHY!? IT’S LITERALLY THE ONE THING WE ALL WANTED AND THESE GUYS WONT EVEN DO THAT!!!!

Reading the article makes the whole purchase overall seem pointless. Either fix the bot situation or don’t bother doing anything with it at all. Literally about 70% of the Tumblr users are either NSFW artists or are consumers of NSFW art. If they really want to make it appealing to the consumers, BRING BACK THE NSFW CONTENT  IT’S WHAT WE WANTED FOREVER.

That’s also why lots of former Tumblr users flocked to Twitter because that’s where their NSFW artists now post on. I would know.

I am personally glad that Tumblr is dying off now. Never really liked that site and the use it ever had was for artwork.

I think I understand why WordPress chose not to lift the explicit content ban. It's probably because they don't want that type of content to damage their reputation and make things uncomfortable and traumatizing to daily WordPress users, especially those who are not adults even on Tumblr. There are times when 'barriers' must be set-up between both sides of content. If one side overlaps another, it can spell bad consequences for all. Look up the yin-yang effect and see what I mean.

Why did they even buy it in the first place? Also, why didn't Pornhub buy it? Someone said that Verizon turned them down because of CP issues that they've had, but I want to know if that's true.

It might not have been about the money. Verizon might be more concerned with reputation over profit and word getting out that they did business with PornHub. They wanted to cut their losses and keep their status, so they sold to word press for pennies instead. I don't think anyone (barring PornHub) who will take ownership of Tumblr will want to risk the stigma and negative publicity that comes with associating in adult content.

tumblr was a shitpile before they banned porn. It just got worse and I wouldn't be surprised if tumblr was actually losing money at this point. From $1.1bn to $3mln is one hell of a drop in price. That, to me, says Verizon just wanted to dump it off.
