I hate to say this but, it’s just runs in family. Almost all my uncles and my dad, plus one of my sister used to smoke.  I started off not wanting to at all but you know, college and shit happens. And one of my friends at that one convenient time happen to lend me one. And you know rest. I don’t do it often knowing I don’t want fall like my family members and my sister now have hard time breathing and my dad’s lung is pretty bad and weak. I have to admit though, I do like the smell of fresh cigs/cigers. Most people don’t but strangely I don’t mind it. Idk, maybe  I didn’t mind it as a kid when my dad and uncles were smoking away. The smell just feel nostalgia to me.

I vape however I fell to peer pressure in my early 20s. The people I hung out with at my job at the time were in their later 20s. They kept trying to convince me to vape and one day I was like screw it and bought one.

Several reasons. Is a family thing for starters.

Secondly, it helps me relieve stress and sometimes focus as well. Overdone and I'll be too relaxed to concentrate.

Third, it was a passive-aggressive mechanism to tell my ex I was pissed at her and needed space.

Spoiler

She would do her bullshit and she always evaded talking about what she did or went down to crying when we talked about her affairs just to make people feel bad for her and condemn me when I was actually right about being hurt. It was my way to say "yeah, you fucked up. Back off and leave me alone". She used to nag with the usual "is bad for your health" stuff, and I used to tell her "exactly". I see how toxic we were. Glad I'm gone from her life. Glad I don't have to deal with her anymore.

Fourth, I actually enjoy the sensation. Is hard to explain. One needs to learn how to smoke, else one just coughs and gets nausea. One timers won't understand because they never really smoked right.

I never smoked long term but I do love the feeling of having a cigarette in my mouth sometimes. Honestly couldn't say why though... it doesn't do anything much. Just very moreish sometimes :p

My brother got addicted sadly :( such a waste of money. Also lungs.

I haven't had a cigarette since 2017, but it started at a youth group sort of thing (It was a council run one not a Christian one) back in uh... 2007 . and one of the guys there offered me a cigarette, since then i had been a smoker on and off but quit near the end of 2017

I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life and have no plans of doing so. Granted, sometimes I like the smell of cigarettes, especially after meals when a relaxing puff seems almost natural, but I would never put my health at risk to try it out. Almost everyone in my ancestry, except my immediate family, have been massive smokers as far back as our history goes, so maybe there’s a genetic love of tobacco products or something passed down in our DNA. It hasn’t done anyone any favors as far as health is concerned either. I admit I was curious enough to try vaping (the zero-nicotine kind), just to see what the taste and sensation of smoking was like, and it wasn’t anything wondrous that I’d spend half my paychecks for. The vape was good for a few puffs and then the interest was gone. If someone was trying to quit smoking I’d recommend vaping as a good tool to ease off the hard stuff, but as a standalone thing, no. I don’t really see much of an upside to smoking at all and would not want to mess with it for real.

Ohhh... In my country do this nearly everyone child in 14-17 y.o. I personally was started of smoke in 16 y.o. (I've 21 yo right now). That very bad habit. For all my "smoking life" I smoked a classic cigarettes, iqos and electronic vaporizers (how now).

I used to have a lot of stress. - Is my cause of smoking.

Now I plan to end doing this.
