Do you think the Wonderbolts (excluding Rainbow Dash) are ignorant?

I sure do. For some, calling the wonderbolts ignorant may be too strong of a word, but I will forever stand by my statement that the Wonderbolts are in fact quite ignorant, which is their fatal flaw. Let me explain.

We first see this ignorance start in Wonderbolt Academy, where Spitfire promoted Lightning Dust to lead pony, when she clearly was putting herself and others in danger by being reckless. Spitfire didn't realize what she did until after Rainbow's friends were almost severely injured after the tornado took out their balloon.

The second bout of ignorance comes in Rainbow Falls, when Spitfire ignored her own partner Soarin' and attempted to put Rainbow Dash in his spot. This put Rainbow in a bind, which caused her to fake her own injuries due to indecisiveness. However, the rainbow reminded her who she was really loyal to.

The third bout of ignorance came in Rarity investigates, when the wonderbolts falsely accused Rainbow of causing Spitfire to get lost. We all know who really did it.

The biggest bout of ignorance came in Newbie Dash. I made a thread about this a while ago. The Wonderbolts (mainly Spitfire and Soarin) ignored the fact that Rainbow's old nickname was hurtful, but we all know that the writers messed up that episode badly.

So, with all this, do you think the Wonderbolts are ignorant? Why or why not?

Rainbow may be a Wonderbolt, but I'm not including her in this.

I really do think that the Wondercolts are ignorant, especially considering the fact that they only accept perfection.

And perfection according to that book that Twilight had overdue is an impossible pursuit.

To be fair, Rainbow Dash never actually discussed her prior history with the "Rainbow Crash" nickname and how it was particularly hurtful to her.

"Ignorant" probably isn't the right word, but "Rainbow Falls" and "Rarity Investigates" do point to a seriously toxic culture.

Well to be fair, Rainbow didn't discuss the history with the Wonderbolts in fear that they would bully her due to the situation that occured at the beginning of Newbie Dash. Even through you say that ignorance isn't necessarily the right word, I'd still say that it plays a role in this situation.

I certainly agree with Rainbow Falls and Rarity Investigates pointing out a toxic culture.

They were put in somewhat of an antagonistic position. Which is entirely on the writers for not being able to present the conflict without recurring to blatant ignorance on one of the parts. Also, it's not so uncommon for the authority to be unreasonable as a means to create struggle between the interacting forces of a story. Not the best kind of writing, but hey.

On that note though, the Wonderbolts are more than just Equestria's airforce. They're the equivalent of our Blue Angels in the US.

Spoiler

But if that's what they're really going for then maybe they should be recruiting from members of the Royal Guard rather than the general populous.

I think most problems in life, at least personal/social ones arise from people not being open/honest enough with each other. Had Dash come forth sooner about unfortunate events from her childhood, then it could have been resolved much sooner, though I do understand the writers have to draw things out to meet the 22 minute bench mark. Despite this technically being a kids show, I think Dash was overly sensitive, and perhaps ignorant on her part in not understanding the nickname culture that's present in military institutions.

Eh, they may have been a bit ignorant, but I don't think the Wonderbolts are bad group of ponies. Of course, they acted pretty shady in Rainbow Falls and Rarity investigates, but they aren't perfect. Spitfire even admitted that Rainbow had taught her a lot of valuable things. Plus, I don't really think the Newbie dash situation was all their fault. Nicknames and teasing are just a normal part of military like environments and it's actually there to built tough bonded friendships; Dash should've known this beforehand. At the end of the episode it was even shown that the Wonderbolts actually did value her as a great flyer and a great friend. Basically what I'm saying is, the Wonderbolts have their issues, there's no denying, but overall they are good ponies.

Oh, but it doesn't help that the writers were constantly making them out to be ignorant. They rarely focused on the good aspects of the Wonderbolts. It's too bad.

Only WBA and Rarity Investigates could be seen as Ignorant. Newbie Dash and Rainbow Falls were outright malice

Tell me about it...ignorance is tame in comparison to what the Wonderbolts did in those two episodes.
