I play all of my card game casually.

I'm not a fan of playing with people I don't know or having to be so exact on rules.

 

Anyway with that said im pretty big into magic.

It really is a lot of fun.

I play Yu-gi-oh a little bit because of some of my other friends, I don't hate it but i'm not the biggest fan of it.

 

However if you want to try something different I highly recommend the Resident Evil Deck Building Game.

That game is a lot of fun and everything you need to play is in the box (If its the original or alliance set everything else is addon)

 

Once you get the game down after playing it about 2 times you can see the entire night just go in an instant without even realizing it.

Sometiems going to a store and just meeting other casua players is good though, believe me there are lots of them , also i'm a big fan of deck building games, but i've already got three i play regularly, dominion acsension and tanto curie.

MBC is fun . but it'll probably only be around for 3 months , depending on how the new set treats us, omg some of the art for it is sooo good.

 

I went to a ptq over the weekend, i really wanted to win so i could go to Seattle, i came ninth >.< just missing out on the top cut. Highlight of the day though was beating John Paul Kelly, one of the top Australian players.

 

POn the day afterwards my Friend won the cardfight vanguard regionals, he only won because i didn't attend xD.

This game is so much easier to get into. Just wish they would slow down on the new sets. But their just doing that so they can have a world tournament.

I used to have loads of Yugioh cards, I never really played with them, just collected them. But then I gave them away, which I regret alot. As for general card games, the only one I'm quite good at is rummy. Haven't played it in forever though.

When I play card games it tends to be with real cards as opposed to collector cards...

 

IE bridge, hearts, spades, cribbage, etc.

 

Although Illuminati was an interesting game that utilized cards.

That is true. So we well have all the sets, it's just that I don't buy cards right away. So when I get used to some of the old cards, everyone else is already using the brand new cards.

I’ve been playing Magic the Gathering now for about two months and I’m HUGE into it right now. Though like all card games it puts a freaking dent in the wallet. I wish I could hook up with some Bronies someday and play some MtG but there are next to none where I live. I’m looking to going to my first FNM here soon.

I remeber when i first got into standard, it was a nightmare >.< but i'm good with it now, i've even moved on to the more expensive formats such as modern and legacy. I played in a vintage tornament once, borrowing a friend's deck, it was so much fun, the issue is how painful it is to predict the meta.

Yeah, right now I’m going to stick with standard. It seems like a real chore to get into modern and especially legacy. I wouldn’t even know where to begin building a deck. I know what you mean about being a competitive freak . Just playing the game and enjoying it and it is the most important thing, and usually I don’t freak out or anything if I lose but when I’m playing it’s on haha. What colors do you prefer?

That happens to me a lot. The last 3 or 4 FNM's I've played the same guys each time. But then there are only about 3 or 4 of us that play competitively anyways so its understandable. The others play a lot more casual decks. Oh well.

 

On a side note I've got a Standard tournament tomorrow for me at my local store. Lets see if my Elves can do something.

God I can't wait for RTR to release. Izzet is back and might be standard viable again

 

I started magic during Kamigawa, and started playing my first real standard games in Ravnica. So much nostalgia right now

 

Have any of you been keeping up with the set info? The Golgari's new mechanic is kind of meh, but Jarrod is pretty beastly (totally building EDH around him as soon as the duel deck comes out), and the Izzet's new mechanic looks very interesting.

For those who don't know, the new mechanics:

Golgari gets Scavenge (cost). If the card is in your graveyard, you can pay its scavenge cost and exile it to put X +1/+1 counters on target creature, where X is the scavenged creatures power. You can only do it as a sorcery, so no combat shenanigans

Izzet has Overload (cost). You can cast spells for their overload cost. Of you do, replace "target" with "each" in the cards text. So "deal 2 damage to target creature you don't control" becomes "deal 2 damage to each creature you don't control"

Also, it's confirmed that there will be a new Niv-Mizzet in RTR. The original Niv-Mizzet has been my favorite card ever for a long time, so I am SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

well when i was a kid i was into yu-gi-oh and poke'mon and now i'm older and its Magic the Gathering which i do play competitive with my werewolf deck.
