general What’s your Halloween costume?

I know this has been the topic of threads before, but this time I’m asking the question as it applies to THIS year specifically. So, for those who are going Trick or Treating in 2024 (or wearing a Halloween costume for any reason), who or what are you going to dress up as? And why did you choose the costume you chose? As a bonus, please mention how you got your costume; is it homemade, purchased, rented? Give details and feel free to show pics if you got ‘em.

Iv'e never worn a costume...

But if one day I can wear a costume with my friends (some of them are semi-pro Cosplayers) I will wear this.

It's the fish seller of Asterix the Gaul. Because my cosplayer friend and I love the Ironsmith and the fish seller relationship.

It will be a homemade dress, real mustache, Plastic Fish...

Sadly I don't celebrate Halloween and the other holiday that I can wear a costume is Carnival (or Shrovetide).

And I just don't have the skills to prepare the costume (but my cosplayer friend say'z is very easy).

I wish someday I will wear a costume...

Beat me to it.

I was originally thinking of going as Fire Benders from Avatar the Last Airbender with mine having the Skull mask and my girlfriend's being based off of Azula's outfit. However, she realpy liked the 1960's army uniform I had gotten for her 2 years ago when we went as a military couple from a cold war gone hot. We're also both into Star Wars, and she had been an Imperial Royal Guard last year, and a Sith-Dark Side User/Mandalorian, though I wasn't able to complete her armor in time and haven't worked on it since. :Thorax:

So this year we'll both be going as Imperial Officers!

The same image kept popping up online for a particularly well put together uniform, although rather slim in appearance. I could tell the image was being stolen by several sites and sellers, but managed to find the original, who is a professional cosplay costume maker. I probably should have just gone for the fully customized uniform, but they had one based on Liuetenant Dedra Meero from the Alderon series which I've yet to get to watching, so I went for that!

During my search however, I came across the 501st Legion, inspired by the unit of the same name led by General Anakin Skywalker/Lord Vader. They're a group best known for making large appearances in full Storm Trooper armor for events, sometimes for show, sometimes for charity. Theyre quite awesome. From the limited access to their forums as a non member, I learned of a few quality sources for costuming, but learned that these are few in part from strict regulations. Armor, Uniforms, and outfits have a high standard to meet in matching screen appearances. After all, uniformity is key not just in the function of a uniform, but in the function of the Empire!

Thus, I narrowed my options, because I want to look the part too! I purchased most of my costume from an online legion approved seller, and am mostly pleased with it. The pants are supposed to be baggy, but my god they look silly! And the hat is too big to wear which is crazy because I have quite the large dome. I will most likely be slicking my hair back instead.

The remaining pieces, a custom rank insignia, costume boots, and code cylinders which canonically serve as Security Keys, USB drives, and an indication of rank, I purchased from the same online seller that I got my girlfriend's costume from. Those pieces and my costume have all arrived, but hers hasn't unfortunately. I've been in contact with the seller, and they said it should be getting shipped out today. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't, but still kind of a shame that it most likely won't arrive in time for the actual holiday.

So officially, I will be a Captain of the Storm Trooper Corp assigned to a Lieutenant from Imperial Research and Intelligence.

If her costume doesn't arrive, she does have a unique hoodie that has a very strong Star Wars aesthetic. If you saw a character wearing it in newer more colorful scene from a movie or show, you wouldnt think anything of it. That was purchased at an outdoor show for local artists, and is made up of upcycled fabrics. It and similar designs were catching the eye of many youngsters, particularly of the steam punk community. So we shall make of that what we can!

Since I cosplay as Sunset Shimmer, Princess Daisy, and Yotsuba Nakano on a regular basis, I could potentially be one of them for Halloween. I've never actually done it before since Halloween isn't a holiday that I grew up with, but I could always get out of my normal cosplay routine and do something special.

@SharpWit Impressive, most impressive. I love the uniforms, both Cold War and Star Wars! I know how you feel about trying to find quality Star Wars costumes and components. The 501st isn’t always the easiest bunch to work with, but once in a while you can find some nice armor on ebay (for pretty high prices). And if you can track down the better costume makers, so much the better, especially if you need something customized.

Is that a Don Post Imperial Guard helmet? It looks great with that red cape!

I’m sorry your sister’s new components won’t make it to you by Halloween, but you’ll be ready to go next year for sure. Very cool stuff.

And wow, so many cool costume ideas from everypony here! I’m inspired!

@Bad Dream Thank you! If I recall, it was listed as a recreation made in 1996-7 for cosplay in an early promotional event for the start of filming on the Phantom Menace? Turned out to be a bit of a scam purchase from the seller's photos and what actually arrived, but of surprisingly high quality? It's metal with real leather inside. Can definitely knock your head around without worry.
