I am going in the sort of way that we, the roleplayers, make the events happen to what we want.

 

So if we want the Akatsuki to return, that will happen.

 

If we want to fight bandits, that will happen.

 

If we want to eat ramen, we'll eat some damn ramen.

 

It is in the same time period as in shippuden, if that is what you're asking.
