Your favorite audio software?

Hey, musicians! Audio-engineers! Anybody involved in any kind of audio project! What is your go-to software for what you do? How do you use it? What is your favorite?

As an electronic music artist, I favor Ableton Live Studio over most other DAWs. I also like to use FL Studio, but not usually for composing music. I use FL Studio mostly for mastering and mixing podcast audio.

Instruments I like to use:

-anything by Necromare. All of his stuff is free, and all awesome!

-Nexus2. All those expansions are really great tools and the interface is pleasing to the eye

- z3ta. Confusing to new users sometimes, but it has a great sound bank and its controls are fairly responsive once you learn to use it

-EastWest Stormdrum and EastWest Symphonic Orchestra. I'm first and foremost an orchestral guy, and these two plugins are my most used

-Native Instruments Massive. Wubwubwubwubwub

-CamelAudio's Alchemy. I just got this one but it's proving to be pretty powerful and effective. Also it doesn't suck quite as much memory as Massive does

-Miroslav Philharmonic. Anything I can't find in the EastWest sound banks, I usually find in here.

-EastWest RA. For when you need bagpipes for no reason

-Lennar Digital's Sylenth. This doesn't really do anything that Alchemy or Massive can't. But it has some nice starting presets for those who need a quick throwaway patch.

-Native Instruments' FM8. Easily one of the best frequency modulation synthesizer out there. Bested only (in my opinion) by the FM synth that comes native in Logic Pro.

So share YOUR favorite software and VSTs! It's always good to be in the know with what's hot in the world of digital audio software. I want to know what you're using.

I think this is the wrong section for a topic like this, it should go in Everfree and under the suffix "media discussion".

sorry, the board description for this board said "share tips and tricks on creating beautiful music," and I assumed sharing useful software for doing so fell under board guidelines. Clearly I misread.

Being a noob to music, I only use FL Studio 10 and Massive for messing around with some electronic tunes, mostly Dubstep.

Ableton Live is kinda confusing to me right now, but im still working with it a little.

All the stuff you listed up there sounds really interesting to look into, but im just so damn lazy lol X3

(edited)

I do indeed have a music project.

It is called "spindash!" and you can find my musics here (on my official music channel): http://www.youtube.c...r/spindashmusic

And here (on my old YT channel): http://www.youtube.c...B2&feature=plcp

My favorite audio production program is Acoustica Mixcraft, but unfortunately I use Linux so Mixcraft is out of the question. In the meantime I use Linux Multimedia Studio. Most of the presets suck so I have to use as many free VSTs as possible.

EDIT: The first channel there only has one track so far. XD

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

I just discovered Mixcraft 6 a few days ago, and damn, it's working way better than FL studio for me. However there's a few things I don't like about it, but it's mostly nitpicks.

Too bad it's only a 2 week trial. I think I can just uninstall and reinstall it, though. I'm gonna check out all of the OP's stuff.

I've used mixcraft several times, and I love it! I prefer the interface of Ableton Live though, mostly for pathflow reasons.

-Native Instruments Massive. Wubwubwubwubwub

I take it that plugin's for dubsteppage? I could use that for drum and bass tracks...

Anyways, here are a few plugins I use.

-DSK ElectriK GuitarZ

It's great for those who can't play guitar for crap (like me). The synth is almost realistic compared to a real guitar, so it's awesome if you're a person who makes electronic music with rock influences.

-SoundFonter

Best soundfont VST ever.

-GTG DPC 3

It's a nice little drum VST. Great for chiptune-type tracks.

Anywho, I need to go to bed.

NI Massive is a great wavetable/additive synthesizer that takes analog tradition and applies it in the digital medium. It's great for both leads AND basses, has a super intuitive interface (though the interface is a BIT daunting to see at first). It's become a favorite among dubstep musicians because of how easy it is to chain LFOs to filters in realtime.

If you want some nice guitar plugins, check out Electri6ity and Prominy. They're HUGE though.

My favourite audio software would be the stuff that I prefer to use.

At the moment I use:

FL Studio, the DAW i'm used to the most and it's decent enough for my works.

I have about twenty-five or thirty VSTs that I use, and I refuse to list them all. xD

But some VSTs that appeal to me are:

Kairatune VSTi

Synth 1 VSTi

Crystal VSTi

Classic Compressor VSTfx

dblue_glitch VSTfx

FMMF VSTi

and most of the Togu Audio Line VST effects and instruments.

Oh, dang, I forgot to mention!

You guys ABSOLUTELY MUST check out Izotope Ozone.

http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/

Omnipony pointed me at this piece of software at the last bronycon. It's a complete all-in-one mixing/mastering suite. Complete with all the tools you'd need to make a hell of a master, an extra EQ for good measure, and a serial pathway that you can edit.
