An Advertisement I Passed By Today

So today I drove by a bus station and on the back of the bus that was parked there was an ad for a laptop. And on the laptop screen insted of just blue or something, there was an ad for the new Batman movie. Now, I thought of this: "Why aren't there more ads like this? I mean, it's a really good way to either save ad space for the bus company, or a clever way to make consumers see the product". It's a really good advertising strategy. What do you think? (Do you agree or disagree)

So what you're saying is an advertisement inside of an advertisement? Adception.

Well I imagine it would be difficult to collaborate with another company to have their staff or ad agency create an ad not only for themselves, but to also place your company's ad somewhere inside it. Companies just don't collaborate with any company, there has to be strategic fit where the two companies involved will boost each other's product. The example you gave was fine since people watch movies on their laptops and the laptop can display how well it plays movies. It was a good fit for both the laptop and for the movie.

They've been doing this kind of thing for awhile, actually. Look at some of the sony phone commercials, for instance.

Well they should think of better ways than. I mean, advertising is nothing but boobs, explosions and pretty pictures. They really need to up thier game if they want people to actually care about their product. Edited by RiverBankNut

As an aspiring marketer and potential advertiser, lol no, ads are much more than what you said. That's just a jaded, cynical view of advertisements. If you're not the target audience for an ad, then of course it's going to look lame to you, because it's not intended for you.

I'm just saying, that's all I see on TV, and even if I'm not the target audience, it doesn't mean it's okay to put as little effort as possible into an ad.

I have seen this type of thing a few times actually. I have seen an advertisement of a newspaper and inside the newspaper there was a picture of another company while the rest of the content was just unreadable text.
