I think these two are clearly sister/little brother. Theres also a hint of mother/son in there since Spike dident grow up with his real parents (i dont know how that would work for a dragon) and Twilight was the one who hatched him, but i think it ends there. They both see eachother as equals and they both rely on eachother equaly as much. If this was a mother/son relationship, Spike would always be looking to Twilight for guidance, which i dont get from the show at all.

I always thought they were kind of like Lilo and Nani, from Lilo and Stitch. Twilight is like his older sister, but also his guardian and the person who raises/mentors him, guiding him through life in a motherly/sisterly way.

I didn't vote because the relationship between Twilight and Spike varies. It is mostly depends on Twilight's mood.

Twilight and Spike's relationship evolves throughout the series as Twilight becomes more confident in who she is outside of her studies and becomes closer to her friends. She naturally seems to become more affectionate. I don't think that means she never loved Spike, I think she had trouble expressing it beyond their assistantship roles. Regardless, I adore their relationship. They balance each other so well and it's so cute to see Twilightisms rub off on Spike who very much looks up to her in her talent and dedication. At the same time, Spike knows he wont ever be Twilight in the same way. So they're able to learn from each other and lead by the examples set.
