movies/tv Best movie you've ever seen

Since there is a "dumbest movie you've ever seen" topic, why not do the complete opposite? Post your favorite movies of all time and tell why you love it. (And for those of you who can't choose between multiple movies, like myself, you can put down multiple movies.) Limit is 5 movies.

My example: My favorite movies of all time include Toy Story 2, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.

The two movies of the Dark Knight trilogy were a blast to watch. The action was great, the story was excellent, and the two villains, The Joker (Dark Knight) And Bane (Dark Knight rises)Were both villains that were as fun to watch as discord.

The Lion King was the African version of Bambi, but Disney put in so much effort to make this movie, which was better than Bambi (In my opinion).

Toy Story 2 was much better than the original, with a better story, better humor, better animation, and...... well... better everything.

(Remember, this is my opinion, so don't come bashing on me all butthurt.)

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and post your favorite movies bellow. (Remember, limit is 5 movies.) ;)

Dune- while not a spot on recreation of the novel, David Lynch did a halfway decent job of cramming it into two and a half hours while still keeping it true to the story

2001: A Space Odyssey- Almost spot on with the novel. A fantastic and accurate depiction of space, accompanied by psychadelic visuals and classical music

Blade Runner- Ridley Scott's timeless classic, a re-imagining of Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? that leaves you with more questions than answers. Full of beauty and symbolism. Is Deckard a replicant? We'll never know for sure...

The Producers- The Mel Brooks classic about an accountant and a failing producer on their quest to make $1,000,000 by producing the worst play ever made. Starring Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel. Highly recommended, much better than the remake.

Jurassic Park- Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm, need I say more? If I do, then DINOSAURS.

Better Off Dead

Oh my gosh, it's a classic 80's flick of a guy trying to win back his girlfriend from a ski-ing instructer. I love all the quirks that they place in the movie, truly hilarious.

Once Bitten

It's one of Jim Carrey's first movies, it's cheesy, but it's also silly in a good sense. I love the music in the movie and the plot, I like too.

The Little Mermaid

Even though Ariel's kinda...meh? I still like the plot, even though it's not the same as the book's plot. I love Disney and their musicals, what's not to like of this movie?

My favourite movie has to be without a doubt The Princess Bride. It's a shame the title is so inconceivably decieving because it's such a great film! It's a great romance, the action scenes are very well done, and it's very funny and extremely quotable.

The Avengers

Treasure Planet

Zombieland

None of these are really considered masterpieces in cinematography, but each struck a chord with me making them seem special.

Avengers brought my childhood heroes to life, Zombieland was the first "R" movie I ever saw, and I could relate to the characters from Treasure Planet.

1. Reservoir Dogs

Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, full of memorable quotes and great acting performances all around. Known for the famous 'ear cutting scene' "If they hadn't done what I told them not to do, they'd still be alive"

2. Army of Darkness

The best of the Evil Dead Trilogy. Full of the best slapstick humor, and Bruce Campbell at his best.

3. Dead Alive

Directed by Peter Jackson, the same guy that directed Lord of the Rings? With the buckets of gore and blood in this movie, you could fill a lake. I'm pretty sure no one has used a push mower to go on a killing spree quite like the main character did in this flick.

I see we have a Cillian Murphy fan. I really enjoyed his performance in 28 Days Later. Scarecrow should've gotten more screen time in the new Batman movies.

I wouldn't say this list is about the "best" movies, more like mah "favorite" movies

1. Titanic (Don't judge me) - As long as this movie is, and as notoriously slow-paced as it is, it is the ONLY movie that I still at least tear up to. Plus, that whole sinking of the Titanic scene, as long as it was, kinda was a little powerful (The sinking is sorta inaccurate, but thankfully, James Cameron made a new simulation of the sinking earlier this year, using research from his previous expeditions to the actual site). Plus, the whole love story thing that most of you don't care about managed to strike me, especially the film's ending. The music is also touching, but when I mean music, I mean, the background music, not that song that Celine Dion did.

2. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - One of those movies where the critics didn't like it but I did. I's story is somewhat interesting to me, its action scenes interest me, I really like some of the weapons and sound effects of that movie, and I didn't notice much about acting (Must be blind :P)

3. Toy Story 2 - Mah most favorite animated movie. It's got an interesting story, I like the animation (It's good for 1999), it's pretty funny, and not to mention the "(blank), (blank) everywhere" meme is from this movie

4. Battleship - Another one the critics hated but I liked. It's one of those movie where you have to lower your expectations in order to like it. I like the action scenes, the alien battleships are cool, and the sound effects gave me some chills at times. Acting is somewhat mediocre, I admit, and dialogue can be equally akward, but I still like this movie for being that kick-ass action movie I wanted to thrill me

5. Tie between Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Iron Man 2 - Transformers 3 is similiar to Battleship since you kinda need to have lower expectations in order to like it. Sound effects is what this movie did best for me. Action scenes are also rampant in this movie, which is a plus for me ;). Pretty long, but again, it's another explosion fest that I really enjoyed. Iron Man 2 is different because it's story is somewhat better, and acting is much better than T:DotM. Action scenes are not as common, but they're pretty cool also, plus I really like Robert Downey Jr.'s acting ^_^ . I know the thread's first post says "No more than 5 movies", but I like these 2 movies at a very equal level; one for it's story, interesting characters, and and acting, the other for it's myriad of action scenes, awesome visual effects, and very robotic and techno sound effects
