There's a good chance humanity will cease to exist (or close to it), before the world actually "ends", as clean water and enough food to sustain the amount of people currently living will become a major issue. By then, however, we will have made more scientific advancements, so it's hard to say that nuclear war will indeed destroy the Earth.
