Need help converting a fellow friend into a Brony

So i was walking with my friend and i start mentioning "20% cooler" and he goes a long with it like i said a normal thing. So then i asked him does he get the reference. And then hes like "Oh god MLP, your a fag" (When he said fag he meant jokingly) So i start asking him why he hates the brony fandom so much and first thing he talks about is:

1: Clopping

He thinks its sick that thousands of people masturbate to a kids show. I eventually convinced him out of thinking that every brony clops. Then he says that its a girls show and why i would watch it. I start telling him that it "Doesnt matter if its for girls as long as its good show" But hes still not convinced.

Im looking out to the community to help me convert him to a brony. I am atleast glad that he knows about MLP and doesnt hate me for being a brony.

P.S. He said he would only watch an episode for a $100 which is outrageous.

Ok, don't force the show down his throat. If he doesn't want to watch it, that's his choice. Ponies isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Show him a popular episode like Sonic Rainboom or Party of One when you have the chance, that's if he wants to try it out.

Remember to respect his opinions, not everyone is going to agree with you 100%

Basically, i don't think you shoudl be trying and covert him. If he doesn't wanna watch he doesen't....

but seen are you are not going to listen to this....

you should tell him that firstly it's a family show :) that's how it was designed by Lauren. Aslo show him how Tara Strong has been in every single show ever that he watched as a kid or is still watching (shes in 90% of mine).

I then also saw that MLP was made by the people who made alot of other good shows like Dexter's Laboratory and Foster's home for imaginary friends or the power puff girl's :)

and if that doesn't do it then force feed him cupcakes while singing smile smile smile till he gives up :D

This guy sounds a lot like I was up until this Tuesday. Oh, I was so naive. I told my friend I would kill him if I watched it. I ended up being very nasty to my friend about mlp. However, I ended up watching the show after I watched the .mov series. Show him that, especially shed.mov, as a hater can end up watching the show afterwards.

Bringing up rule 34 is self-defeating. There's much worse stuff for pokemon which people seem to have no problem with. I also once lol'd at one skyrim player who based on MLP for its rule 34 when looking that stuff up to see waht sort of weird stuff skyrim fans made, they aren't any better either.

You really don't want to force anyone into the show. It's a bad thing plus he'll probably get so fed up with your insistence that he'll never watch it.

But if you do want to "convert" him, just show him the awesome side of the community, you know, the music, the art and maybe throw in one or two of the references the show has. Then, let him watch one of the cool episodes. That's how I did it atleast, and my friend is now a happy brony (Well, maybe it was easier for me because he wasn't a hater).

What I've found when trying to convert some of my friends, if you do subtle things such as listen to pony music around them, look at the forums or My Little Brony while over at their house (granted you have a laptop you can bring with you to their place), or even show them some of the parody videos such as the .MOV series, they'll eventually become curious and decide to watch an episode or two for themselves. You know, to see what it's all about.

Now, I'm not saying you should shove it down his throat until he chokes - if he ends up watching it on his own time, unless he's honest, he probably won't want to tell you about it. Don't jump all over him. Give him his space. And if he ends up never watching it, that's his decision, not yours.

Tell them about the show and how awesome the fandom is, but let him come to his own conclusions. It's okay for someone not to like MLP or get "bronies". Don't be that pushy friend. You wouldn't want someone pushing drugs onto you, right?

Lol, i knew you would be yelled at when I read your title. So here are my thoughts, you shouldn't try to force him on the show. Maybe try to make him see that we are not sexual deviants, but id still find a way for him to watch at least one episode because you cant hate on something you haven't seen.

You don't need to "convert" him . . . that makes it sound like you're forcing it on him. Converting someone to anything; the sound of it just makes me . . . -shudders-

I also don't think it's fair for him to knock it before he tries it. If you can convince him just to give it a chance, that's good enough.

*1st off "don't" shove it down his throat* - you already know that -

You are going to have to explain alot so that he can understand why you like the show. First off explain to him what a brony is and everything. Everyone overreacts, because it is natural to think guys watching a girl show are weird... So after you have explained to him what a brony is, tell him to hear you out for a little bit. Then go on to explain to him how *you* yourself got into liking the show! After you have told him how you started liking the show. Let him watch some clips on youtube to show him what you actually watched! Everyone thinks that bronies watch the older generations of MLP which is not true in the slightest....

This video explains alot

See I confessed to a friend that I was a brony a couple a days ago & that is how I explained it. After my conversation, my friend thought that the show was really cool and he even wanted to watch a episode ;). So there you go!

"Don't force the show down his throat."

If you insist on many king him brony, casual or not. He should knows things like.. well, it was MEANT for little girls, but it had parts in art and plot that really caught our attention.

It's unique cause of ponies. It's a species, can pony, cute and all... kind of like a trend. This makes it very fun to read or make pony art bad fanfictions.

Also, of course there are cloppers! Rule 34, if it exists, there is porn of it.

I swear there is Pokemon, Starwars... you know. I wasn't too surprised that sick part of the internet hit bronies.

I turned one of my friends... Into a half bronie... Heres how it goes...

I'm just chilling with him... We are talking about gamer poop and such... Then I ask... What's with my little pony being so popular... He says OMG I don't know...

Later we are watching some YouTube poop... I look up my little pony YouTube poop click on one and we watched it...

Twilight says: wow what a beautiful Fu- c- Ing - day

We both started laughing loudly... He stated... Wow the only good thing about MLP is YouTube poop that's made out of it!

I'm like... Ermmm what ever...

So he keeps watching MLP YTP... Do that qualify as part bronie?

Idk but MLP is something that dosnt... Exite some people

I think that my friend will soon check out the real thing and become a bronie...

Well idk how that was supost to help but... What ever

If I were you I wouldn’t even try to convert, it should be cool enough that he doesn’t give you a hard time about the show. A lot of people can’t say that about their friends. If I were you though I’d just make him as uncomfortable as you can. I bring up pony references all the time with my friend and have fun with it. My friend and I give each other a hard time all time. He calls me a “fag” I make pony references and call him “a closet fan” among other things and it’s fun. In my mind that’s what friends are for so if I were you I’d have fun with it.

I wouldn't say that if I were you. It's really only G3 and G3.5 that were poorly animated, poorly thought-out, and beat the idea of feminine gender stereotypes into the brains of people (mainly young girls). That is why I never liked G3/.5. They were made with no love, and enforced gender stereotypes.

However, the original MLP from the 80's is actually pretty good, considering they just made up all this stuff to go along with plastic pony toys. It's an 80's kid's show, of course it's a bit cheesy, but I think it's cute.

G2 with My Little Pony Tales got a bit girlier, but there were plenty of colts and stallions around, and it was basically just the ponies in a town/school setting, and it was just amusing to watch. The animation wasn't so bad - but it was once again, very 80's in style.

There's nothing wrong with the first two generations. They were actually pretty cool. The only good things that came from G3 included Rainbow Dash (she was originally Firefly then something else, she was never RBD 'til G3) and Scootaloo. Otherwise, most of the ponies were inspired by previous generations.

You are 100% right there :). The original was probably really good & it was aimed for girls. No I understand that the original generation back in the 80's was great. It is just that it was designed for girls rather than a bigger audience. Like I am sure you will not find guys watching the older generations. I actually really like what they have done to the show in G4 though ;). G4 is what brought about the brony fandom too. All in all the original was probably with out a doubt great!

But I love what the show has become of as of now! It rocks

Yes, the original-original was more aimed towards young girls, but in My Little Pony and Friends, a wider audience was more accepted. There were other creatures and even a little boy tagged along with the little girl, so it wasn't frufru or anything. G3 is the epitome of frufru. I actually do know some guys who like the older generations, and others who don't watch them, but do have respect for them.

But yes, G4 are ponies at their best. :)

Progress so far:

Yes i know i shouldn't force it down his throat and believe me when i say i'm not. I try to tell him all the great things about the community. Hes lighting up to hating them but he still refuses to watch any episode about MLP.

And for one more time, i'm not forcing it down his throat!
