New announcements about Applejack and Season 3.

Hasbros has released some news about Applejack and Season 3 this week. I'll paste the few announcements.

 

After a great deal of consideration and feedback we have decided that a select group of background characters will be given personalities. Among these select few characters is Applejack: a character who's been around prior to the debut of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She was incorporated into FiM as a frequently appearing background character. While her character was originally intended to have a personality, those plans had to be scrapped due to priority being placed on the development of main characters.

Two seasons have elapsed and we have decided that it would be best for the franchise if we add the overdue personality depth needed to bring Applejack up to speed with our other background characters.

Applejack's small group of fans should be excited to hear this announcement. We received letters from concerned fans and opened up dialogue with the few Applejack advocates that were previously not known to have existed.

Once proper feedback was received, we decided, for the sake of the fans and of the franchise, to include personality depth and appeal in Applejack's character.

Daniel Ingram also commented on the possibility of giving AJ a unique voice actor.

 

While my work is normally confined to songwriting and composing, Hasbro contacted me with the urgent request to aid in the search for a unique voice actor for a certain "Applejack." After inquiring as to who this character was, we worked out the plan to find a voice actor that would be unique, by Applejack's standards. We have confirmed that Applejack will be voiced by someone other than her current voice actor. This should be of great news to Applejack fans, and fans of the entire show, for that matter.

This is great news. I was hoping to hear something about John DeLancie and Discord, but I guess this will do for now.

If this REALLY is true (Which I doubt), I'm wondering why they would change the voice actor. Ashleigh Ball (I think) is already good enough.

 

Strangely and somehow fittingly enough, Taylor Swift comes to mind as a replacement voice actor . She's a country singer and is a blonde, of course, but doesn't exactly have an accent, like, at all.

Applejack is one of the more ignored background characters. They should have some more cameos of her in a few episodes. That'd be an improvement.

What? How can anyone from the Mane 6 be considered a background character? Sure, she doesn't get nearly as much face time as the other Mane 6, but she is present enough and has enough lines to certainly not be anywhere near a "background character". Hell, she has enough personality as it is, with her own group dynamic within Ponyville that we see a lot.

Rarity is far from a background character. She's one of the main characters. I know you're just joking, but still. I'm one of those "few" Rarity fans.

Yes, it's obviously a fake.

 

With the HUGE, GIANT, GLARING flaw calling Applejack a background character (among a few other, smaller flaws). If it was worded differently, then it would be far more believable.

Chainsaw is right, though I think this arrangement is really quite strange, giving some spotlight to a background character.

Hasbro is really changing their ways, priorities should be given to main characters.
