@@Knight Hadron,

well... I will not use my backup HDD for something like that... the less that one is used, the longer it lasts, and I cannot afford losing everything (like my passwords for over 300 websites and services)

So I still have:

C Partition, System (50GB free)

E Partition, Recordings (230GB free, but I record ~500MB/minute so that fills up quite fast)

F Partition, Games & Programs (80GB free)

I guess I could install it on F... but I don't like to see when my HDDs go red in windows ._.

I already hate it so much when there is less than 1/3 of the HDD free... I even uninstall games to keep over 1/3 of my F Partition free (which is currently not, should uninstall something)

It's like a obsession, I CANNOT fill a HDD to more that 2/3 ._.

Ah. Now I understand. You could run off a flash drive, perhaps, but I dunno how Mint would like that. Me trying it on Ubuntu ultimetely crashed things up badly. *shrugs shoulders* Try cygwin :)

Alright thanks, I'll have a look at cygwin :)

So this isn't my CURRENT PC (I shudder to think of it, a SSD can't save this machine's loading times..), but rather my future PC: I'm ordering these parts very soon.

AMD FX-6300,

MSI GTX 960,

ASROCK N68-GS4,

2x4GB DDR3 RAM,

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm,

650W PSU.

Intel i7-4510U @ 2.00 GHz 2.60 GHz (I have no idea what in the world that is supposed to mean... lol)
Turbo Boost! Although Windows often incorrectly gauges that. The maximum Turbo Boost speed of that CPU is 3.1GHz, not 2.6GHz.

Well, yeah, I had no idea why there were two GHz readings, but at the same time, I'm meaning that I don't know what any of it means. I know nothing about processors. But that's fine, it really doesn't matter at all to me.

I have a 64 bit Windows 8.1 (soon to be 10) laptop, made by Samsung.

It has 4GB of RAM, 400GB of space and an Intel HD Graphics card.

Basically, under load (running Chrome, compressing a file, playing a game, etc) the processor goes faster to keep up with the demand. That help?

Since I can honestly say I'm happy with my now repaired laptop I can post its updated specs :)

Along with getting a new hard drive (cause apparently that's what went wrong) the repair done on my baby gave it these new specs :)

OS: Still Windows 7 though instead of the standard Windows 7 Starter I bought it with it now has Windows 7 Professional :D

Processor: Intel Celeron 1.50 GHz

RAM: 4 GB, I believe it used to have 2 before

And to top it all off it's now a 64 bit system :pinkie:

It's been two weeks since it was returned to me, and after a four month abcense I can honestly say my baby is better than it ever was :D Not the same as the ASUS I was after, but I'm glad I can still use it

i believe you can put Linux on chromebooks! so if you're done with chromeOS you could always do that :P

i like how this chromebook looks tough. it's really different from the usual black/grey used on laptops!

Currently, I am in the process of rebuilding.

My gaming machine finally died after 5 years of me abusing her. By abusing her I meant, Ultra settings at 1080p, full OC and never shutting the damn thing off, as well as 912gb worth of games and mods installed on it.

This system isn't impressive as of yet, it's a WIP, and a budget PC still under $400 spent.

I bought an Acer Aspire just to use as the chassis.

It has an AMD A 10 6700 piledriver chipset APU at 3.7ghz

12 GB DDR 3 2100mhz Ram,

Radeon HD 8670d crossfired with Radeon R7 250 2GB DDR5 graphics (Gotta love APU's ability to crossfire)

Two LG Blue-ray drives I cannibalized from my old system.

1000W BFG PSU (because I can)

Windows 8.1 64bit OS, will be upgrading to Win10 when it launches.

1 TB Seagate 7200 RPM HDD

1 TB Samsung 5400 RPM HDD as backup, with a Win 7 Partition (again, cannibalized.)

32 Inch Panasonic Viera Plasma HDTV (because I like my dynamic shadows TYVM)

Gamecon 780 headset by Plantronics

Standard Acer keyboard.

Ibuypower 5 button gaming mouse.
