That's where I upload every picture before posting it here, you can't always trust hotlinks. I don't know what the issue was that prompted this thread, but it sounds like a remarkably immature stunt. Wait, I'm kind of lost. So, basically, incorrectly hotlinking something could possibly lead to pornographic images accidentally showing up instead? Sort of. You see, the person hosting the site may find out that you hotlinked his image without permission. If he's upset about it, he can easily post a much more...objectionable picture in its place. So, if you have not followed "proper hotlinking etiquette" as Zoop describes it, that picture you posted long ago and forgot about may become something different in the future. It's a mean trick, and many site owners will just break the link or replace it with a "please do not hotlink" image, so it doesn't happen all the time. That means that COULD mean not alot of people saw what had occured and its best to just leave it at that. No reason for this to get out of hoof considering the problem has already been resolved. The absolute minimum of information was provided in order to add context for the announcement. The OP boils down to the following bullets: A recent incident brought this to our attention. Report things regardless of age. Don't create a thread to draw attention to something rather than reporting it. Do not withhold information about rule breaking content from the staff. I also am aware of the fact nopony was named and I continued in that manner. However, the way the OP was formulated struck a nerve since it IS kinda harsh towards the unnamed guy. Which, since he is my friend, I didn't really like. :/ This being said, some of the members of mod team are even my friends and I greatly respect everypony, Zoop included, for what they do. I just felt like it could be expressed in less harsh manner. But maybe that was just me over exaggerating. I am sorry if I sounded too defensive, mate. I... Didn't wanna assume bad intentions. I mean, if you see something inappropriate you don't have to comment or make a big deal over it. Just report it, and let the mods take care of it. They know what their doing! Thankfully (at least, for me) I don't see much NSFW content on here. The forums are usually clean and their are rarely things like this happening. But in the case that it one day does happen, we'll know what to do. Hopefully we won't see anymore anytime soon. Keep up the good work, mods/admin! And us members too! So far I've used tinypic for just a couple pic uploads on here but I do have a photobucket account that I can make a separate album for and then switch out my pic sources. I do recall just once when a tinypic of mine on a different forum randomly switched to something else so I know tinypic isn't immune to this issue. Or maybe even life. No thread or post of an inflammatory nature is deserving of this much speculation or alarm, only swift and resolute removal. As for somebody's intentions, they don't matter when the poster is being belligerent. Once such a post is removed, move on with your lives. If you're the one to report something that isn't kosher, move on with your life the very next moment after you've made your report. Don't even give it another thought unless contacted by a moderator in regards to the reported content. There are too many potential good times ahead to be so overly concerned with bad, extremely commonplace, and ultimately inconsequential events of the past.
