Well to be totally honest, besides hearing about games for it. I haven't really payed any attention to the Wii U. I'm not a HUGE Nintendo fan, but I do like Nintendo. However I don't even have a 3ds so idk. Maybe I'll get one sometime if I ever get the cash, or maybe not.

Really wanting one so bad, my friend has one and I am so jealous. I want one especially for Rayman Legends, it looks gorgeous, and because I am a Nintendo geek, but the Wii was a real hit and miss for me and I want them to recover

I think its pretty neat. Not just the game's or the graphics but the new controler that comes with it. I mean to be able to play the game with out the tv is pretty handy. I have a brother thats always going to want to either play another game or watch tv while im using the game. This would also be really great when going to college i could use this when I want to play my games and my roommate could play his halo/Cod/MW3

And looking at these games that are coming out with the wii u (AC3 and Darksiders2!!!!!) I'm pretty sure this will be worth the wait.

Only one problem.......

I HAS NO MONEY TT_TT

When I first saw this console, it blew my mind, I never even saw a home console with a touch screen right on the controller, plus there's all these awesome games coming out that I'll get like ZombiU and Scribblenauts Unlimited.

Well, I went to FutureShop yesterday and they had a pre-launch kiosk set up. I played a single level of Rayman Origins before moving on. The gamepad is surprisingly light, I don't think it's any heavier than a DS despite the size. The grooves on it also feel very nice in your hands.

Everything seemed really responsive, nice high framerate, crisp HD, etc. I don't think Rayman was the greatest choice to give myself an example of the system though. I was honestly in awe at just how easy the level I played was. Of the available demo levels, I took the one on the far right, assuming it would be the most challenging...I wouldn't have even considered that acceptable as a tutorial level.

Still, when I really think about it, the system's almost like they've taken a 3DS, given it a power-up, and morphed it into a home console. Two screens, one being a touch screen, gyro sensor, almost identical button layout, etc. And again, the only two games I'm really interested in for the Wii U are upcoming 3DS titles as well.

I really want to want this system. But I don't want it. Not yet anyway.

Me and my friend played the Wii U all day. I don't currently own one but my friend does. We spent like 3 hours on Nintendo Land we liked luigis ghost mansion the best. And we played New Super Mario Bros U for about 4 hours. Both games very fun and worth playing. The gamepad is very light and is a nice fit on the hand and the graphics are just amazing. A top line console, buy it if you have the money.

I like video games!

I've always been a pretty huge Nintendo fan, but for some reason, I'm not all that excited about the Wii U. The new controller is pretty neat, but so far the games released for it are pretty meh to me. But I guess it's always like this at a console's launch. I'm also kinda bummed at its lack of power. It's barely more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3. These are 6 year old consoles we're talking about! It should be WAY more powerful! I think I might actually go with Microsoft or Sony this generation. Well I'll at least wait to see what they have in store before I purchase any new console.

...But being the Nintendo fan I am, I know I'll probably end up getting a Wii U eventually, like I did with the Wii.

SO GUYS.

It is released in Europe tomorrow, and that means I can finally play Assassin's Creed on TV <3 I have the rest of the series (all in limited of course) for the PC, so playing it on the big screen will be a whole new experience for me!

Of course there are many more awesome games, but AC3 limited will definitely be my first buy, oh yeah.

I just got my Wii U Deluxe today. I was surprised my local Gamestop had any in stock! I guess sometimes it pays to live in a small town. I only have two games for it so far, Nintendo Land and Assassin's Creed 3 (and I'm still playing the first one!). I'm updating as I type this, so I will probably post tomorrow with my opinions.

I am mainly excited for games we haven't seen yet, like new Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros games. I definitely want Monster Hunter and Aliens Colonial Marines.

I honestly despise Nintendo for disallowing third-party material and closing down fan websites. Since the Wii has come out, they had valued "family gaming" over quality of gaming. Games can still be kid-friendly if they are not full of childish things.

Why did they do this?

It's all for the money. The Wii systems have become an "accessory" more than a gaming console that parents feel compelled to buy for their children.

"Oh no, Xbox is too violent for my poor little Jimmy. I think I'll let him play Poke Mans on his Wii U."

I went to Best Buy on Black Friday morning, and they still had Wii U's in stock.

You really know a system isn't selling so well at that point. lol

I'm not sure where you're getting these facts. Nintendo have one of the most enviable communities of fan webmasters imaginable. There are so many Nintendo fan sites out there, from lower-key ones like mine; to major fan sites like Zelda Universe, and Serebii; to enterprises like NintendoLife and GoNintendo. You've also got some incredible fan projects like ZREO and MarioWiki that make you wonder, "how does one even do this?" Fan sites that spend thousands of dollars hiring a choir for a fan-made arrangement of a classic Zelda tune, and fan sites that spend hundreds of hours meticulously enumerating every single appearance of Mario ever and enforcing a high level of encyclopedic editorial control. Nintendo has the full right to claim intellectual property infringement and shut any of this down at any given moment in time.

But they're really good about not just allowing all these sites to exist, but also maintaining relationships with them in the form of review copies of games, press releases, and such.

Honestly, the only fan sites that stand a chance of being closed down by Nintendo are ones that illegally redistribute their games, and there aren't all that many of them.

As for third-party material... honestly, there has been a whole lot of that, and Nintendo at no point ever disallowed it. Made less noise about it than they probably should have, yeah, I can agree with that. The GameCube and Nintendo 64 were, if you ask me, the only major Nintendo consoles that had a meaningful lack of third-party support. But every other Nintendo system has had pretty awesome amounts of developer love outside of Nintendo - yes, I'm including the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS here.

If you want edgier games on a Nintendo console, those exist, too. The Wii U launched with Assassin's Creed III, ZombiU, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The 3DS has Dead or Alive: Dimensions, two Resident Evil games, the definitive version of Street Fighter IV, and Time Travelers. Their older consoles have a lot more titles that have flown under your radar.

Personally, I am a day-one Wii U adopter, and a very satisfied one. I'm not going to pretend it's a perfect console, but I set realistic expectations and the Wii U is doing a great job of meeting them so far. Third-party developers have been raving about the Wii U from a development perspective for many months now, and Nintendo are doing a few really enticing things with it to make it an extremely attractive console to create games for, so I'm pretty confident that the $350 + tax I paid for my unit are going to be a worthwhile investment for the next half-decade of gaming.

Having spent a good two years blogging about the console, I'm quite happy to finally have one. :)

I don't have one (yet) but I really like what I'm seeing online. Plus the new mario game looks much better than the one that came out on 3DS a couple of months ago.

Mine is currently acting as a door stop, paper weight, or platform for monitor/fan. I got it(32g) back with it released *yay* but I was(still am) in the middle of moving, so its in the box being used in a different way. I could technically pull it out and hook it up to my tv in my room. Just don't think its worth it since I'll have to remove it and the tv in about a month to a new apt. Posted Image

Sure, the major ones are approved by Nintendo. Just watch what happens if a site very similar to Zelda Universe pops up. Down it goes! Don't forget about supermariobrothers.org, either!

But they're really good about not just allowing all these sites to exist, but also maintaining relationships with them in the form of review copies of games, press releases, and such.

Yep, they pick favorites with their sites.

Yeah, they exist. Take a walk into a GameStop. Chances are, you will find shelves of third-party, almost-indie, old, forgotten pre-owned Xbox 360 games. Now walk over to the Wii section. Almost all of their games have input from Nintendo.

Timesplitters and Perfect Dark were gems. Timesplitters is one of the rare examples of a fully third-party game (I think). Sure, they allowed some M rated games through. Most likely with a huge royalty.

Even so, these games got terribly insignificant sales compared to the other two consoles (considering the fact that the Wii has twice as many users, it's even worse). Black Ops is missing theater mode, clan tags, face paint, three kill streaks, and killcam feature. Big let down.

Yeah, the Wii U is a good console. I just thought it could have evolved into so much more.

I'm so excited for Wii U for Pikmin 3 been waiting for that game since pikmin 3 info was realesed back in 2006 or 07.So im either going tosell my Xbox 360,a couple old games and Ps3 to get Wii U 32GB system plus Zombi U and Black ops 2.Orsell my Ps3 and Buy halo 4 and Black ops 2.I'm troubled and not quite sure what to do >.>.Any thoughts?

In my opinion, one does not really need both a PS3 and a 360 :P

Halo 4 is truly an outstanding game, and BO2 gets good reviews as well.

I'd definitely recommend getting the Wii U, but be smart about it. Don't go crazy hyped selling two great consoles just to get it now. Wait for the price to cool off a bit, sell either your PS3 or your 360 (I'd say lose the PS3, personally), and buy it when you're ready.

Pikmin three looks a little like two, so maybe get a gamecube for now :D

Any mostly motion based consoles are bad , period. No exceptions, motion gaming is just not fun, ever, not at all. The game console tends to be inferior to it's piers.

Kind of agree with you, it is cliche. The Wii U is motion-based, but it's not really "motion gaming" if you know what I mean.

Wii Sports = motion gaming

Skyward Sword = not

When you put motion into games it becomes work not a game. If you can get tired out by a game then it's not really that much of a game is it?

I'm guessing you're the one person who voted the uppermost choice on the poll... xD Eh, whatever. I like motion gaming myself. It's not like I think it's better than, say, 360 or PS3, but it certainly isn't worse.

Lol, skipped over the last bit of your quote there at first. What do you call a thing like tag? Or any sport? I think they're called games.

Tag and sports are excercises really. What's the point of motion gaming if you could, I don't know, just do the real activity, and save you all the money on an overpriced console. Also I didn't vote on the poll.

I can see your point. But to be honest, not a whole ton of the games for the Wii or Wii U are like that. Just games like Wii Fit, or Wii Sports.

Glad we could get this generation (in console gaming, handhelds got an early start with the 3DS last year) kicked off with a good start. It's good to finally see Nintendo games synonymous with sweet, glorious HD graphics, and once again, wonderful, innovative gameplay.

I didn't get it on launch day, I wasn't able to preorder it in time. Instead, we tried our luck on getting them that evening, while they were very hot and scarce. Day one, our Best Buy nor GameStop didn't have one (though I did pick up a Pro Controller and Nintendo Land from BB), but day two we went back to GameStop for another try. Of course they said they were out, even Best Buy said they weren't getting any until probably 2013. But, or of the clerks at GS said a Sears nearby (which aren't really known for their video games) had some in stock, and them, not being the most competitive video game retailer, gave me a little hope.

So we sent to Sears and, lo and behold, there was one Deluxe Wii U without a label, just sitting there waiting for an owner to pick it up and take it home. There was another one, except that was reserved. Anyway, overjoyed with my luck, I finally took the thing home. Man, it was a toughie to unpack and set up (I had no room for any other consoles, so I had to box up the Genesis... :( ); but in the end I got what I was looking for.

So far, I have only played it so much (y'know, things like school, other video games, internet, iPad addiction, etc.), but I have three games: Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed. All very good, I haven't played much of Nintendo Land though. But I really see infinite potential with this console. What with the GamePad tablet, as well as the original Wii controllers and the traditional controller-resembling Pro Controller, I thinkknow that this thing can and will go very far.

Now, we wait for the peak of the system's lifetime. Super Smash Bros. 4, in development since March, a 3D Mario, Zelda, and other great exclusives, first- and third-party are most likely going to flourish on the system. Good things come to those who wait, and with the Wii U's immense and variable library right now, I can most certainly do the waiting.
