I did a search and I'm quite surprised one of these doesnt exist. There were several small threads about something specific, mostly in off-topic, and some locked threads about a server, but the game itself doesnt have a thread. Im going to go out on a limb and assume that quite a few of you play this game, and if there are no objections, maybe this thread should be the hub for discussion.

I won my first game of Spycrabs yesterday and won a strange Pain Train and a Vaccinator. Spycrabs is pretty intense, isn't it?

I like the vaccinator, though. The separate ubers make the gameplay really interesting.

Ah, Tf2.  I hadn't played that in a long while due to some steam issues.  But I got back on recently and boy did I forget how much fun it is.  Though I hate when people don't realize 'team' is in the title, and they never pick the right classes :/

Anyway, I just started playing Team Fortress 2 a week ago and I've been playing as the Pyro. I get my flank kicked online since I'm new but I've gotten my fair share of kills during multilayer games. I've learned so many cool ways of attacking and defending as the Pyro. Who knew losing could be such a fun learning experience.

I quit playing seriously a while ago. Now my friends and I just troll the other team with spy or engi spam.

 

Best was when an IRL friend, KKR, and I all built our buildings in the other teams intel room on 2fort. One of us grabbed the intel, but then just stayed with our engi nest, so our team couldn't capture it. We had teleporters to and from or respawn area, we dispenser and sentries guarding every entrance. It was set up in a way that even an ubered player couldn't get in, because of all the knock back from the sentries, so they could only ever see and destroy one sentry. Which we would quickly rebuild. We're all good engies, so the few spies that did get in got killed quickly without doing any real damage.

Even though the enemy grabbed out intel quite a few times, they couldn't get it back to their own room, and because one of us was always carrying the intel while maintaining the nest, the game went into overtime. At this point, everybody left the server except us 3 engies, and 4 players on the other team. They need got through, and eventually the game went into Sudden Death. 3 engies is a shitty Sudden Death team, so we lost.

Still, best game ever.

 

Another time, the same friend and I went spy, equipped the Cloak and Dagger and the dapper that reverses the building process, and trolled the other teams engies the entire game. Don't remember what the map was called, but there's a big open space around the intel, so there was plenty of places to hide. One of use would sap something while they weren't looking, so the engies would rush over there to knock it off and try to find the spy. Meanwhile, the other would run to the other side of the nest and sap a few things. It'd just go back and forth. Eventually, they got 2 pyros to camp the place, but we were good enough to get caught more than once or twice. At one point, a Heavy joined, so we had effectively taken half their team out of the game, looking for two spies

Really into TF2 at the moment. I've been doing alot of trading lately and I've traded my way from a weapon to a hat the other day so I was really happy. Also, I just got a Genuine Area 451 which I loved.

 

As well as actually playing the game

 

My favorite overall class would probably be either the Pyro or the Medic. Pyro is good for ambush defense and offense which I like. And I usually play as medic due to the fact that it helps the team MASSIVELY. I probably play as Medic more than any other though. I like to play as all the classes though. (Although I rarely play as Heavy though)

Did you stumble across your characters equipment? I've been told you can run across items while in a game. That's pretty cool in my opinion,

I´m actually glad I got away from it. Gave my backpack (including all stranges in game, not icluding the salvaged ones) away on here, like a few weeks ago. Still, a very cool game, though it´s addicting...

I was playing either medic or pyro cool loadout, I usually went for s. degreaser, s. reserve shooter and s. axtinguisher or homewrecker.

I've been trying to get good at playing as the Scout but it's very difficult. I guess I just need to keep playing as him and keep taking my deaths like a man until I've developed some skills.

Someone yesterday on a trade server was raffling off a Bioshock hat. It was a big contest of spycrabbing. 22 people entered, no one won because some people where messing things up. I was among the final 4. Very intense.

that´s cool, I don´t know if you go for detonator jumping (check it out if not), if you don´t you should maybe change to flare gun (the detonator does no critical hits on burning players like the flare gun, only mini-crits). Backscratcher is solid, but not if you have a medic, because the healing rate is 75% slower. Engies will love you with the homnewrecker, and with the flare gun and axtinguisher heavys are no problem, like, at all...

I agree with this. Phlog isn't very good, because airblasting so good. I generally use a strange flamethrower, or a backburner if the other team only has 1 or 2 soldiers/demos.

I always use the Flare Gun, because crit flares are so damn good. You can kill anything in 2 or 3 hits with a flare gun.

As for melee, usually the mailbox or home wrecker.

@@Evilshy, there's a method to my madness. I want the Phlog because with MMPH I can regain all my health, negating the need for a Medic and the downside of the Backscratcher. And I use the Detonator to get people in cover and to Detonator jump.

Finding items like hats and misc. gear is rare, but it happens. Most of the time you smelt your duplicate weapons (which are commonly dropped) into etal that can be used to make hats and the like. But the easiest way to get what you want is to buy it directly from the valve store or trade your metals or other items to someone who doesnt want their hat, etc.

I was actually thinking about making this exact thread, because the fact that there was no TF2 thread was confusing and disappointing.

 

I actually quit long ago. My computer broke and after about a month or two, I found out how to get TF2 to run on my craptop. But it was really buggy and I couldn't really put up with the FPS rate.

Trading is the only thing I've been doing for a while recently. I guess I just haven't been in the mood for proper gameplay, (If fighting in Trade Plaza doesn't count) but maybe if I have everything I'm looking for through trading, I'll go back into the action.

 

My favourite class would either be the soldier, the sniper, and maybe the spy, but I often like to fill gaps, (Choosing a class my team has none of) which sometimes helps the team.

I've played TF2 for five years now...

Anyway, it's actually done me some good because it gives me a reason to actually stream. I'm not as good as I could be had I took the game seriously, but then again I only ever played TF2 for fun, not for the competitive nature of the game.

If you wanna join in my stream, just search the very same username as this. It's your choice though, after all.  I'll be back to streaming on Monday, as an FYI.

I usually play Scout with Sandman and the Flying Guillotine, along with stock scattergun. Such a ridiculously fun combination. It really is.
