poniesforfun 716 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 I'm speaking of course the 3D looking glasses he was wearing in season 3 ep1. That didn't look like ski goggles. Did he think he was Tuxedo Mask or something?
Brook 663 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 (edited) I got some ideas: 1) The Equestrian equivalent of eye protecting gear 2) He was imitating Zoro 3) Black 3-D glasses 4) A carboard cut-out he made to look cool and match the scarf 5) Pyrovision Goggles 6) He forgot to wear contacts, therefore glasses 7) Cadence gave it to him as a gift and he didn't want to tell her it looks ugly so he wears them now 8) He's trying to act like a hipster but he doesn't know how, therefore wrong glasses 9) His swimming with sharks glasses That's all I can think of, hope it made you chuckle. Dr_Waveband 745 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 They're snow goggles: they're used to shield your eyes from light reflecting off the surface of snow, thus preventing snow blindness. Of course, it wasn't particularly bright when Shiney wore them in the episode... 6 ELSIE PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD
XrosOver 613 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 As much as I hate to say it, they remind me of star wars... also how are they staying on his face? they should have blown off with the wind or at least repositioned a little bit. The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?
silvadel 1,393 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 Almost makes him look like a unicorn version of a cylon from battlestar galactica. Shining armor really needs "something." I mean he is twilly's brother and head of the guard and all he gets is horn cooties. Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight.
Zygen 6,066 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 I assume its just eye protection. I can't see it being much of anything else. Maybe its really strange looking binoculars. It still bothers me how they look very... paper like. They don't look like they even have any form of lenses.. Seems like snow goggles though. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! dad george 105 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 He was wearing his sexy outfit *faps* Nah I have no idea. I think he might be a 3d assasin waifu-throwing changeling-beating superhero. Sorry for the thing that has been in my sig for like a lot of time, I ragequit because I got a warning and then never bothered to get back to the forums and change my sig xd
roptiriolg 49 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 Those were funny goggles lol! Reminded me of some robot, with these Armor almost looked like sektor/smoke cybers from mk xD xD
ThatBronyGirl 49 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 Snow goggles are mainly made of thin plastic or paper. they stop you from going blind when there is snow everywhere. I lesrned how to make some when I was eight. (Fluff yah, Canada!)
leogal 74 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 You should put a spoiler warning....I'm still only half way through the second season (again...I keep getting interrupted and having to start all over )
BaBaBrony 111 November 11, 2012 Share November 11, 2012 Shining Armor is a pony of the Night's Watch. When you're out ranging north of the Wall, snow blindness can be as dangerous as wildlings. If he falls and breaks his leg, he's dinner. So he has those glasses. They complement his black cloak.
poniesforfun 716 November 12, 2012 Author Share November 12, 2012 You should put a spoiler warning....I'm still only half way through the second season (again...I keep getting interrupted and having to start all over ) Sure... but I didn't think this would be that important. If it's eye protection I wonder why he keeps them off afterwards while they are traveling through the snowscape.
Yellow Diamond 7,569 November 12, 2012 Share November 12, 2012 I'm really and truly surprised that Shining Armor's Toton didn't freeze by the time he reached the first marker. I have to think they were going for a Star Wars reference. Given the powerful geek culture driving bronies, it was hard to miss. The goggles have basis in reality (as Dr_Waveband highlighted), but all I could imagine was John Williams music playing in the background. 1 Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te. AegisReflector 886 November 12, 2012 Share November 12, 2012 I pondered this even in my first reaction video. They only showed like a few seconds of it but it was just such a goofy outfit that I literally went back, paused the video, and asked myself "These animators are high, eh?" I guess they ran out of Rarity-esque designs so they just slapped up something together haha.
CaptainLuna 50 November 12, 2012 Share November 12, 2012 looks like something from star wars i guess its a pony equivalent of snow protection it looks like it serves its purpose maybe one of the artists got lazy or something
Bucky McGillyCuddy 956 November 12, 2012 Share November 12, 2012 He's just doing his best to be a ninja I thought it looked kinda cool though. I wouldn't mind a pair myself on those cold winter days (if they existed in Australia). Pinkie D Pie 1,036 November 13, 2012 Share November 13, 2012 They are obviously the most epic things ever. Such amazing glasses, and besides, he is trying to hide from Sombra. In all reality, they are most likely some form of eye protective wear, much like snow goggles. Flicker Sweet 3,391 November 13, 2012 Share November 13, 2012 they wear those in the Arctic area to protect their eyes from the glare caused by the snow reflecting light. There is literally so much light being reflected that it can damage your eyes if they are not properly protected
Nothing&NoOne 695 November 13, 2012 Share November 13, 2012 My friend asked me the same thing when we were watching it, my best answer was snow goggles to prevent him from becoming snow blind.

Pah, If they just send in the Mane Six, they would sort out the Others in ca. 40 minutes (their usual rate for ancient evils). 45, if Fluttershy insists on collecting all of the warg-bound animals. On the subject, they might have been referencing the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Only recent movie, I recall with these things in them. Dusty Soul 2,611 November 13, 2012 Share November 13, 2012 Snow goggles. They keep snow out of your eyes and such. Also did anyone catch the star wars reference right here. It seems pretty obvious. Lightning Fluttershy 1,844 November 13, 2012 Share November 13, 2012 When I first saw Shining Armour wearing those, it reminded me of Han Solo when he was looking for Luke in the blizzard. The resemblance is uncanny!
