Black Friday 2012

My plan is to do what I always do on Black Friday: sleep in, then chill out at home, trying to ignore the fact that a huge chunk of my society is (at that very moment) going full retard over some glittery, talking, spinny dervish.

And pie. I'll probably eat some pie.

Having witnessed a fight over a cellphone last year, I'd rather not go shopping that day. Whatever, it's not like i'm going to loose any sleep over saving a couple of dollars. Still, worth a couple of laughs every year however.

I have to work on the night through morning of Black Friday, so I won't being do anything other than hoping I'm not trampled by customers when we open up. Lol.

I do get out at 4 am, though, but unless a letter comes in alerting me of a really fantastically cheap sale on an oboe at one of my local music stores, I don't believe I'll be getting anything. But if such a letter did come in, I'd be in big trouble. Let me tell you. xD

To be totally honest, I don't think I've ever actually gone shopping on black friday, I normally am the one to sleep in while my parents and sometimes my brother go out shopping. I don't know if I'd be able to brave the crowd for the deals of black Friday, but who knows what will happen this year.

I also have an aunt who literally has like a whole gameplan and everything for it. She is crazy about it. Very strategical.

And the things I've heard about that people will be doing on black Friday are quite crazy in my eyes. I understand its great deals, but dang.

I don't feel like sleeping out in line for a store just to be trampled, so I think I'll just stay home on Black Friday. Honestly, I'm okay with this.

Seeing this topic made me think of a segment on The Peter Schiff Show about Black Friday:

Peter Schiff does have a tendency to ramble a bit, so the gist of the video is that a high number of shoppers or dollars spent on Black Friday is not really an indication of a healthy economy or a lucrative shopping season, since:

(1) many people are simply going deeper into debt to make their purchases,

(2) we're buying mostly imported goods from China, etc. rather than goods manufactured in the U.S., and

(3) many people are probably shopping on Black Friday just because they're buying discounted things for themselves and are desperate for those discounts to stretch their limited dollars, not necessarily because they have a lot of money to spend.

Holy shit guys, look at this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5qRs2dBoK0

This is just sad, people literally fighting and beating eachother to get some phones...

I'll take back what I said earlier about Black Friday, I want it to stay as far away from me as possible.

This shopping music fits much better than the other one..

Song name is also related.

I always enjoy watching black friday videos on youtube.I never quite understood why people would want to go on black friday with the stores being cramped and why they would want to hurt each other over some cheap plastic crap.

I've never experienced a black friday madness, and I think that I never will, but if I can get a 3DSXL for 0.25 cents, I would walk over a lady or anyone else if it's necesary lol XD

In America this "Black Friday" must be something that means "Everyone freak out over cheap things: Possibly kill pedestrians for material items."

I've only been caught in one crazy Black Friday thing last year. It was godawful, no one bumped into me (Probably because I towered over everyone in the store :P ) but I saw people just going crazy.

People were fighting and yelling and being pushed down. Luckily there were cops.....also I could've probably stopped a riot if I needed to.

Eh, never been a fan of it myself, mostly because I'm a guy and don't like to do that much shopping. Not trying to sound stereotypical or anything, but, well, it's true, I don't like shopping that much, especially not the amount that people do on Black Friday. If I ever do have to do shopping for the holidays, it should take no longer than two hours, and I would never subject myself to the madhouse frantic shopping spree crowds that one encounters on Black Friday. That, and I prefer online shopping as well, and I'm sure that as I get older, I'll utilize online shopping more and more. I'm not really morally opposed to Black Friday; I think that my biggest objection is that so many of the sales start on Thanksgiving these days! I'm sick and tired of Thanksgiving, along with the idea of setting aside a day to give thanks for all you and your family have been blessed with, getting ignored or overlooked because of materialistic consumer tendencies that go into overdrive come the Christmas season. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to capitalism or consumerism, but I think that especially for the every day consumer, such spending habits are healthy if held in moderation. Heck, I'm sure that I might someday when I'm older even go out on Black Friday for some sales of stuff that I could use around the house! But I'll never go out on Thanksgiving, nor will I ever get in line at an ungodly hour like 4:00 A.M.!!!

Got my Merrell tennis shoes my copy of PSASBR and a pair of tritton detonator for less than 40 bucks and Im enjoying them with an awesome piece of the OST for Persona 4 Arena. Wanted more stuff but kind of hard to take em back home.

I have to give my regards to my pals on the US for the awesome time here and taking me to this maelstrom of savage consumerism =D

It's funny how this show sincerely made me realize even more how important friendship is compared to material goods.

Being human, let alone American, it is perfectly natural though to have stuff and want more stuff, yet a healthy perspective should never be lost as to its place in life.

A happy little Black Friday is absolutely possible. My older sister and I are having one right now. We went to our local comic book shop for their store-wide 30% off deal at 8AM pst. Everyone in line, which was like 15 people, were so civil and some even caring. I got a Sideshow Collectables Commander Gree figure. They ran out of the newly released Commander Neyo's, which I was fine with. What was touching was the little boy in front of me with his Dad held up his Neyo and asked if I wanted it. I was very touched, thanked him graciously, but refused as I was already grateful for my Gree.

I worked seasonal at Toys R Us twice in the past, so I understand completely everyone's war stories.

I wish you all a happy Friday, whether it be black or as colorful as Rainbow Dash's mane. ;)

I ended up surviving working it, although that wasn't very fun.

I did get some Black Friday deals afterwards, actually. I got a 16GB SD card for $8 and The Sims 3 World Adventures and Ambitions for $18 combined (really haven't been satisfied with the majority of The Sims 3's Expansion Packs but when they're only $9... The only one I will not ever buy is Showtime).

After buying a Wii U, i am way too poor to care much about too many Black Friday deals....

But Black Friday always seemed like too much of a pain to go out for, anything i need ill just get online without having to leave my house. :)

I went this year for the first time to buy the ponies from Walmart because they were such a good deal and I plan on customizing them. Needless to say, I won't ever go again... it's really sad seeing how crazy people get over stuff. And I heard the Walmart I went to was "tame" in comparison to others.
