In a single 22 minute episode, they were able to give each of the Mane 6 a decent piece of the spotlight without (in my opinion) making it feel too rushed. But crystal empire was 20% cooler Lesson zero was the episode that introduced the other ponies sending letters to the princess... Rather than just twilight... But after lots and lots of disrespect towards spike... He finaly gets to be the hero! And that's awesome! It seemed like there was a lot cut from those that could have made it awesome (for example I believe that there is a scene missing between the one where Spike obtains the Crystal Heart and falls off the tower and the one where Shining Armor sees that the most logical conclusion to the Empire's problems is to throw his dying wife off of a balcony, perhaps where Cadence convinces Shining to do so because she's not strong enough to take off on her own). Owls was also one of the episodes where I found Spike's character to be really irritating for some reason, which seriously hurts the episode as a whole since he was the focus. I felt for Pinkie so much in that situation, it was kind of hard to enjoy most of it. xD But A Friend In Deed, I just loved. That one's in my top ten easily, and not because it has the Smile song. It had an interesting new character in Cranky and it's the best portrayal of Pinkie I've seen in the series. "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..."
