As of Wonderbolt Academy, what're your favorite & least favorite episodes of S3?

Since we're half way through season three now, what's your favourite and least favourite episode and why?

My personal favourite is One Bad Apple, it's the one which I've watched the most and Babs Seed is my favourite song of the season :') The Star Wars reference was pretty cool too.

My least favourite is Magic Duel, I just think Trixie is one of the most overrated characters.

Plus, I think Twilight's training could have been more detailed, it could have easily been a two-parter, with the amount of depth in the plot.

My least favorite is probably One Bad Apple. I never cared much for CMC episodes.

(just noticed aha) Crystal Empire part one was a pretty good start to the season, though I still think that King Sombra just looked like a bad OC and didn't really have much character behind him.

My favorite episode has to be...

 

Sleepless in Ponyville.  Seriously, this is the most best-written Rainbow Dash episode yet....yet it's not even her episode. Seriously, due to this episode and Wonderbolt Academy (Read it and Weep and Hurricane Fluttershy kind of helped, but less so), she went from a pony I never truly cared about to one of my favorite ponies. Seriously, were all of the writers taking "How to write Rainbow Dash" lessons before starting season 3? Maybe Meaghan Mcarthy > Lauren Faust in "how to edit arrogant tomboys" when it comes to editing writing? I have no clue, but she's awesome this season. Scootaloo and Luna's development was great too. 

 

Needless to say, I smiled through the entire episode. So many great little moments and overall, the episode had so many feels. It was also a visually gorgeous episode. This has pushed Hurricane Fluttershy aside and has become my favorite episode of the entire series (Magic Duel is now my second favorite).

 

My least favorite episode is Crystal Empire part 1. I've loved all of the season 3 episodes so far, but this episode suffered probably due to the fact that I watched every single spoiler released for it (so technically, I watched the first half of the episode before it aired.)  It was amazing visually and cinematically, but it felt insignificant compared to any of the other season 3 episodes. I, for one, was one of the few who liked the "villain" (I liked how he was animated to look also 3D. Besides, he wasn't as much a "villain" as he was a roadblock on Twilight's path to passing her test. If he was given character, the episode would be completely different, as it would focus less on Twilight's test AKA the entire point of the episode). I dunno, it's more of a "I ruined it for myself" thing rather than anything else.

Favourite so far is Sleepless in Ponyville if  just for the fact that I was totally not expecting to like it. For whatever reason, it had me desperately wanting to see what was going to happen next and loved the way all of the characters were played in it, even if they went a little over the top with Rarity. So much cuteness in it too. Also find it very easy to re-watch.

 

Worst would be Too many Pinkie Pies. The title says it all for me I love her in small doses. Too much silliness for my liking.

My least favorite might be The Crystal Empire part 1, mostly because not a whole lot happened in it besides setting up for the next part. We did get Pinkie Spy though, so it wasn't bad.

Ugh, the first 2 episodes where just terrible, episode 3 (Too Many Pinkies) was very awesome, I have yet to see the rest. I might just skip season 3.

My favourite episode had to be the Wonderbolt Academy one that I just watched yesterday. Since it hasn't officially aired it, I'll hold off on posting anything in detail about it other than the official discussion thread for it.

 

My least favourite episode was Too Many Pinkie Pies. This was the only Pinkie Pie episode where I didn't really get to enjoy her as everything was focused more on her clones than Pinkie herself, compared to say, Party Of One which was fantastic and captured Pinkie's own method of coping with pain. This on the other hand, felt kind of bland and slightly uninteresting.

 

I also expected slightly more from The Crystal Empire, but then again, I watched it in a livestream that was plagued with pop-up advertisements, and it was frustrating. I'll have to watch it again in order to give it a proper evaluation.

Same thoughts as Rarietty.

 

Obviously, Sleepless in Ponyville is so far best episode. It had so many great things about it.

-It's a perfect example of a slice of life episode, and has great character development for Scoots and the other characters.

-Dash's soft, caring side was shown once again for the first time since back in the days of Hurricane Fluttershy, and she got some significant character devopment of her own with her interaction with Scoots.

-It's one of if not the most adorable episode in the series thus far.

-It got lots of hype for being Scootaloo's first episode focused around here, and it's also by a brand new show writer.

-LUUUUUUUUUUUUNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

 

Crystal Empire 1 loses out for me because it just lacks the epicness of part two, and by itself can't beat out any of the solo episodes, all of which I've enjoyed thus far. Simple as that.

My favourite episode was Magic Deul because Trixie. Bad Seed was awesome too though.

 

Sleepless in Ponyville was my least favourite because I honestly just don't like Dash. Scoots was fine, but Rarity was way out of character, and she's my second favourite Mane 6 pony. AJ was the only one that could see the obvious, and while it was nice for development on RD and Scoot's part, I'm not invested in them enough to enjoy them that much.

 

I also don't really care for Luna, so her cameo didn't add much for me. (Please don't kill me in a fire.)

Well, Sleepless in Ponyville nearly had me in tears. :') It was just soooo adorable. Rainbow Dash was amazing in it you saw her soft, caring side, and to have Scootaloo having her first own episode was great - she was cute. I love how Dashie and Scoots have now bonded. I want them to be in another episode together! So yeah, that's my fave. Everyone else seems to think so in the poll to.

One Bad Apple was also pretty cool B-) I think the rest were relatively good.

 

As for my least favourite.... Both the Crystal Empire episode didn't really wow me. While others might say it was amazing, I didn't think it had that much of a good story to it. Not much suspense. I don't even know how to explain it.

 

EDIT: Babs Seed was the most AWESOMEST of songs!!!! I must've listened to it 100 times... :3

 

There are NO WORDS to express how awesome Sleepless in Ponyville (and Babs Seed song) have been. <3

I loved 'em all. No faults in any of them, if you ask me. Sure, King Sombra didn't have much of a story behind him, but honestly I think it makes him all the more good of a villain. He's a mysterious, evil, and powerful force.

I've liked all of the episodes this season, at least so far, however, 'Sleepless in Ponyville' is probably the best.  Dash showed her loving and caring side, which I loved, and Scootaloo was simply hilarious.  It was but a masterpiece, and it's easily in my top five episodes of all time.  'Magic Duel' is in a very close second.  Trixie, my favorite villain and non-mane six pony, returned with a bang.  Her wickedness and her obsession for revenge were just awesome.  

 

My least favorite is, as nearly everypony else has said, would have to be 'Crystal Empire, Part 1'.  While not a bad episode, it was lacking in the villain department.  Sombra is not a bad character however, just underdeveloped.

I don't really know why, but I feel like the quality of the story  suffered in some way from their execution of the moral, not that it wasn't an important moral to have, but it just didn't seem up to their usual standard.

My favorite episode so far is DEFINITELY Sleepless in Ponyville

The Scootalove was ADORABLE and Princess Luna was just Awesome as usual :3

but finding out she is also the guardian of dreams makes her that much more AWESOME-ER

Well I mean I know not everyone likes the CMC, some people find them quite annoying. Maybe they just rubbed off on them the wrong way, they're entitled to their opinions as I am mine .

But I do love the CMC. Even more so with the recent episodes.

Heck I love the whole season, Sleepless in ponyville just sticks out to me more, maybe its because I had to watch it twice in 1 day(It was that awesome.)

I really liked Too Many Pinkie Pies. I thought it was a really original and creative episode, and I think it's the best so far.

 

As other have said, Magic Duel is probably my least favorite so far. I liked the duel scene, but I feel like the rest of the episode and the ending especially could have been done a whole lot better.

I have been absolutely blown away by every episode this season - they've all been AMAZING! It was hard to pick a favorite and least favorite, but I went with Sleepless in Ponyville for favorite, because that episode just turned out to be so much more than I was expecting, and Rainbow is FINALLY being regarded as Scoots' sister. Went with Crystal Empire part 1 for least favorite, because it's not too great without part 2 alongside it.

Favorite- Magic Duel. Trixie has absolutely nothing to do with why I love this episode(but she isn't completely horrible anymore), it was just a masterpiece at the level of Lesson Zero and Canterlot Wedding- the characters, plot, humor, everything was all at top level here, if only the rest of season 3 was like it.

Least Favorite- Too Many Pinkie Pies. Not because it's a bad episode, it's certainly better than, say, The Mysterious Mare Do Well or Hearts and Hooves Day, but between the annoying Pinkie clones and the overall predictability of the plot, the episode failed to consistantly entertain me. It's not bad to rewatch though, I still like it, but I do not love it.

My fav would have to be Sleepless in Ponyville so many little touches and great character moments in that one, heck might it might be one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. 

 

Least fav hmmmmmm.... At first I was Like one bad apple, but upon rewatching that I noticed nice subtle charter touches in Babs Seed. It also sported some really clever jokes and nice moments with the CMC. Not to mention that awesome song.

 

I might have to say Wonderbolts academy I wont specify why until tommorrow. ( I dont think it is awful just my least fav) 




I think it would be better to put Crystal empire 1 and 2 as one episode as they both constitute one complete story. One really doesnt hold up without the other

Sleepless in Ponyville - If to remove the 2 parters this would be number 1.

 

Magic Duel- Pretty good though some parts felt rushed.

 

One Bad Apple- no comment

 

Wonderbolt academy- OPEN AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Spitfire what the hell happened to your voice!?!! Her old voice was awesome. Lightning Dust was a bit disappointing as a character

Favorite - Magic Duel

Yeah, Sleepless in Ponyville was a great episode I won't deny that, but Magic Duel was just slightly better in my opinion. Trixie was a great antagonist and just barely reaching the level of full-on villain, the opening scene and introduction of the Alicorn Amulet looked almost pulled out of different movie with how much of a drastic tonal shift it was (which was a good thing I should make clear) and it was great seeing what Twilight was truly capable of after all this time.

 

Least Favorite - One Bad Apple

Very typical anti-bullying episode really, the only parts of the episode I really liked were the song and A-Team reference. Other than that nothing really stood out to me, not even the character of Babs Seed.
