Just who the hay are Cadence and Blueblood's parents?

When Rarity talked about her dreams of marrying into royalty in The Ticket Master (at least that was her dream at the time), she mentioned that Prince Blueblood was Princess Celestia's nephew. And it's well known that Princess Cadence is also Celestia's niece. But who's connecting them? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Luna is neither Cadence nor Blueblood's mother.    But then, who is?

 

Another question is whether Blueblood and Cadence are siblings. I'm going to guess no on that one, too. It's possible, but since she's a full-fledged alicorn (which Lauren Faust didn't intend, but nvm) and he's a unicorn, they would have to be half-siblings. Unless you believe alicorns are made and not born, but then why was Cadence granted so much power as a filly, while Blueblood never received any?

Maybe since there are so few alicorns in the show, the "race" is some sort of mutation. Think of albinism and you'll know what I'm getting at. Since the gene runs in the royal family, sure there will be alicorns! Maybe Blueblood simply didn't get the alicorn gene passed on to him. I don't think albinos have a 100% chance of having an albino child, so maybe the same applies for alicorns?

 

I really have no idea. Not much information is given. It's a good thing to theorize on though!

This is how I see it.  Celestia and Luna had an unknown sibling that had Cadance.  Blueblood could be the resault of Celestia and an unknown earth pony.  The Unicorn trait from Celestia, and the Earth trait from the unknown earth pony.  This is backed by the fact that they live for a very long time, and would outlive them

Well lets make a theory.

 

Luna and Celestia have been around for more than 1000 if we have to bring “*Real world logic” to the MLP world we would say than in all those years they have fallen some special somepony.

 

I would take that both Candance and Blue Blood came from the offspring’s of those someponies.  With a life longer than 1000 talking in take that falling in love for a celestial being would be not as easy ill say that at least Celestia had 3 partners. Who would bring new branches to the royal tree.

 

All of this descendants carry the potential to bring an Alicorn among their childs (similar to what the Cake’s explained) but that would be win a very low probability.

 

 

 

 

Also as much as we know the “genetic” variable to bring an Alicorn will only be activated if the little filly on its mom’s womb is a female.

 

As far as we know is all what I think we can stablish.

I would love to know more about Cadance's backstory, who her parents are and why she's the Crystal Princess.

Lauren Faust said that Blueblood is Celestia's nephew. She also said that Celestia and Luna have neither children nor siblings. Which would make impossible for them to have nieces or nephews. So I'm going feel free to make stuff up.

 

First off, Celestia and Luna are clearly unnatural. They have ridiculous lifespans, control celestial bodies, and are physically larger and magically much more powerful than any other pony. So I'm going to say that they are created beings and not born.

 

There is one other non-alicorn Princess floating around in canon and that's Princess Platinum. It's way more plausible that Blueblood is related to her than to Celestia or Luna.

 

I'm going with the view that Cadance is a mutant. I'll call her a winged unicorn to differentiate. Celestia has been ruling so long that Alicorn = Princess = Ruler in most ponies' minds, so she could have a strategy of adopting any "alicorn" that pops up into the family to protect them from being used in a political power play.

Cadance is probably the daughter of other crystal pony royalty, and is obviously much younger than other alicorns(Celestia/Luna). Blueblood, dunno and don't care.

I'm guessing that it happened after the Crystal Empire vanished, since Cadence was still pretty young when Twilight Sparkle was a filly.

 

But I think it must be linked to the recurring theme of 1000 years.

I believe that there is a large peripheral aristocracy that lives in Canterlot that we don't really know about, and that generations before, Celestia and Luna began wider-spreading Maternal clans. Insuch, Celestia and Luna look after ponies Equestria being indirect literal genetic mothers.

 

I strongly believe that "Prince" and "Princess" in the context of Cadence and Blueblood are actually technical terms within this Aristocracy that are quite different from the Regal distinction of Celestia and Luna. Blueblood is the son of a pony named Oxblood.

It's a sufficient theory-- Celestia and Luna's parents are the generational forebearers of a certain seam within the Equestrian populace, though they haven't had children since perhaps as far back as 1000 years.

 

The Genetic Dispersal is like how if you go far back enough, lots of people in Western Society are related to European Royalty.

I'm no expert on this subject, but you do not necessarily have to be born straight out of royalty to consider yourself as such. Remember, we're talking about a span of 1000 years - a span in which Luna was trapped in the moon for roughly the same amount of time but it's plausible to note that Celestia's other (now deceased) relatives could have passed down the fortunes to their descendants.

 

Also, it's worth noting that Twilight Sparkle herself can now be considered royalty just as much as somepony like Luna is, considering her brother is now married to Cadence. That means that her future children would also be given the same status and thus a lot of potential wealth, though I do suspect they'd much rather live humble and quaint lives if Twilight decides to not go back to Canterlot in her lifetime on a permanent basis. We would call Kate Middleton's kids princes and princesses too, right?

Well, from what I know. Cadance is a alicorn, she was pretty young when Twilight was a filly. But since, Twilight's brother is married to Cadance we might see some siblings. But as for Blueblood and Cadence's parents, I don't think they haven't been explained yet not that I know of.

Siblings, I don't think, are necessarily the same exact pony type. Blueblood is a Unicorn when he's Celestia's nephew, who is an alicorn. Celestia could have some sort of sister or something that isn't an Alicorn that is just a nobody.

Personally, I believe that Cadence is only considered Celestia's, and subsequently Luna's, niece because she is an Alicorn, and not by relation.

 

Obviously from what we saw with the Season 3 Premiere, Cadence is the Crystal Kingdom's princess, be it by birth right or by destiny (her cutie mark is the crystal heart). We also can note that the Princess Trio are the only Alicorn's in the show. So, either Cadence was put into some sort of magical stasis by her parents when Sombra overthrew them a thousand years ago and was only recently revived (I.E. Her being a teenager when Twilight was young) or she was born recently and was crowned a princess because of her wings and horn. I find the former more likely than the latter, but either is very plausible.

 

And, as for Blueblood, I agree with popular fanon speculation that he is of Princess Platinum's familial line. It would make sense that, since he obviously holds no real bar with Equestrian politics (that we have seen/heard of), he only holds the title of Prince as a nod to her reign. Also, like the Bro a little ways above me stated via picture, Word of Faust originally wanted him to be a Duke. I would like to think that he does preside over a duchy and has a mass amount of family wealth, but, as I said before, the title of 'Prince' is only an honory, sort of like how some celebrities are knighted (I.E. Elton John). He holds no real power other than being Celestia's extremely distantly removed, great nephew and who has a ton of bits. 

 

No and, in his relation to Princess Cadence, if, and that's a big if, he and she are in fact brother and sister, I think he would absolutely loathe her. Because, who wouldn't want to be a higher being/demi-god? And though I previously said that I think Cadence is only a Princess and Celestia's niece by race and probably royal connections, my money is that she and Celestia may have a family connection, but because most other Alicorn's are dead, they don't know how close.

 

So, in variably, what I'm saying is that I really don't think that Cadence and Blueblood are brother and sister. There may be a possible relation threw Celestia and Luna if Princess Platnium and/or the Chrystal Monarchs were in their family line, but, its all speculation until we get canon confirmation.
