Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Prayer is always worth while, but I suggest directing your prayers to the families of those who have died rather then the dead, they have passed on into their eternity, prayer will not change anything for them.  Their still living friends and relatives, however, are dealing with great pain now, my heart goes out to them, and their tears, they are the ones most in need of prayer now, and where my prayers are directed in this matter.

I deeply apologize, that was my true intention.

Positions vary on the topic of praying for the souls of the departed, and this is a point of contention between Catholics and Protestants. For Catholics prayers for the deceased help to the atonement of their penances on Purgatory, and thus allowing them to reach the beatific vision earlier. On the other hand, protestants do not usually believe in praying for the dead ones and in Purgatory.

Either way, a prayer is never lost. If it is not possible to use the prayer to the benefit of a certain cause, then it will be used for the benefit of another one.

I've read up to Exodus 20 now. Some pretty exciting stuff just happened...Joseph bringing the Israelites to Egypt, Moses rescuing them from Pharaoh 430 years later...yep. Some neat things I'd say.

I highly recommend The Prince of Egypt, easily one of the best religious movies ever made in my opinion. It's all about the Exodus from Egypt and really tells a good story of Moses as a character and the relationship between him and the Pharaoh.

I watched it last week. It is really good, I think it tells the story well :) even though it's not completely accurate (with Moses and Pharaoh being brothers, and Aaron never speaking for Pharaoh)

did anybody else go to the crown coliseum (in fayetteville N.C.) this weekend for pilgrimage?

I am afraid that I don't live there, but could you tell us how it was? ^_^

It was awesome! there were about 6,000 people there! My church group, except me was performing on the stage this year (I was on the music and I.T. side of it), If I get it edited soon and uploaded I'll post a link to the performance, but enough about that. It started on Friday and ended on Sunday. We all worshiped and sang together and there were several speakers like Bob (Sorry I can't remember his last name, He was hilarious though) and Tiffany. And thanks to me being the head of our I.T. department (and only member, lol) got a front row seat all Saturday. On Sunday we had a huge communion (they had a whole back stage room full of bread and grape juice). All in all, it was an amazing experience!

You can also find more stuff with the hashtag #p15.

I also saw a couple of Bronies btw, one had a twilight plushie strapped to her head and the other had a fluttershy pin on his bag.

That looks really awesome :pinkie:

I never went to big Christian events like that, though some already were held close to where I live :P.

I searched for the hashtag on Twitter, and I found many cool pictures. Two of them were of a guy in front of what looked to be a sound table, I guess that he was you ^_^.

Anyways, I looked forward to see your performance, if you have the video ready :).

Best regards!

Nope, not me (guy behind a sound table) I was wearing a white vest the whole weekend, as for the music I was handling that during the practice, after that I was recording our group's performance. And the video will be up soon, I just have to finish recording the groups thoughts on the performance. If you see the crown center's official footage we are All god's children UMC or AGC UMC for short.

Quick question guys and this one is meta.   Am I a burden? Like do my various questions and concerns just weigh the thread down?

I wouldn't say so. Good questions provoke genuine thought and good-natured  debate is beneficial to all involved. Whilst I wouldn't describe the theology that comes up here as ground-breaking (it's all very 'grass-roots')  simply being exposed to other viewpoints on contentious or unclear matters can do a great deal for a person's own theology.

Whilst I do occasionally think 'Do I really want to get involved in this discussion?' when certain topics come up, I won't deny its good for me to exercise my brain in a theological direction once in a while, as I am not naturally inclined to do so.

Burden's are often given to us by the Spirit, an attitude of listening and willingness to learn, or humility is needed.  And it never hurts to share the burdens, we are called to be the Body of Christ, collectively.  That means to work together, and support our brothers and sisters in their walk with the Beloved, helping each other with loving kindness, faithful honesty, and compassionate generosity.. at least this is the ideal we are called to walk in.

I don't think so. Everyone has his doubts and insecurities, and we should support each other :)

My personality can be described as the ISFJ type ("The Defender" or "Protector Guardian"), I actually like and look forward to helping and engaging with other people. It is no burden at all for me.

ISFJs are also known to be meticulous to the point of perfectionism, which does describe me well. So maybe that is why I my replies usually end up being longer and more detailed thanwhat I imagined at first . So maybe it is you who have to forgive me for ending up giving long answers :P.

Take care!

Heh. I wish I was a perfectionist. My posts are rarely long. Kinda sucks that I never really feel like making long posts, because I always have a lot to say o3o

btw, one of my best friends started up a youth group in town a while back. For our town, we have a big audience-- about ten (or more) consistent attendees! It's really a blessing to be a part of the team running this little thing, especially since we have gotten a few kids to consistently go to the Sunday service, and also commit to follow God!

But there are others who have listening and interest troubles in the devotions. It'd be awesome if y'all could pray that their eyes are opened to see how much we all need Christ. Thank you so much~ <3

@@Sunwalker,

Perhaps as a consequence to this, I am an INFP ("the Idealist" and "the Healer.) My life is very much internally focused so that's part of the reason I have so many struggles with my spirituality because I'm always questioning my thoughts and feelings.

Hey y'all,

Haven't posted here in a while but I could really use some prayer. I'm in my first semester of college and I'm really scared about what I'm doing after college. I'm currently in biomedical engineering, but I really want to go into pre-med to become a doctor. There's definitely more important problems that people have, but for me it feels choice between being really miserable now and working harder than ever to raise my GPA or forever regretting my choice to not go through. Ever since getting to college my mild insomnia got really worse and I've been constantly anxious.  :(

While you have my prayers, controlling anxiety involves bringing every thought into captivity, consider the good things in your life and turn your thoughts from fear to gratitude.  Fear is of the enemy, we fear the reactions of others, we fear the future, we fear how we are going to do something..

You might consider asking the Beloved what His will is for you, a desire to be a doctor is a good hint of some direction, since often our heart desire has some hint of what our purpose in life is, but generally He has something better in mind for us then we can ever see, because we can only see here and now.  Trusting in the will of the Divine is hard, and learning to listen to the Spirit is as well, but it's the only path to joy, peace and fulfillment in our lives, anything else is dust in the wind.

What works for me to controlling anxiety is always having something to do, because idleness increases anxiety. As they say, the idle mind is devil's workshop :P.

Browsing the web or playing some games might help to a point, but I am talking here of doing things like concentrating on your studies and work. Some creative task, like drawing or writing stories, can help too. Things that require some physical effort are great, like sports or just taking a walk. I know that it sounds a bit cliche to say "go outside more", but it can indeed help :). Like you can try going to some different places, like cinema, theatre, zoo, etc.

I can relate with how you feel, I also worry a lot about what I am doing after I finish my studies. For now I am planning to do a post-doc, while I try some exams for a job in the public sector. Back when I finished high school, I also had similar anxiety. I failed at my first attempt to get into university, and I also had no luck with hunting for a job, so I had an entire year in which I had neither work and nor studies. I used this year to get more prepared for the admission exam of university, and that time I succeeded :D.

Those anxiety experiences, however, have helped me to grow closer to God :). Stay safe, and keep fighting!

And interestingly enough, a trait of my personality type is to enjoy and are capable of helping others with their own feelings. The ironic part, is that ISFJ's usually don't voice their own internal struggles, and might have some difficulty with dealing with them. This also describes me accurately :adorkable:.

Anyways, it is normal having your own struggles, but by facing them you grow stronger in the longer run. And you have me and plenty of other friends who you can go for :)

Likewise, don't feel ashamed to ask around here especially if you do ever have your own problems. It's the least I could do after all the help you've given me.

  • 2 weeks later...

so something awesome happened a couple days ago.

So ive been borrowing a bible from a friend at my salt group (that's what our collage church group is called) cuz crazily i do not own one, and this last Thursday the group wanted me to make sure that i could make it to service so i did. when i arrived Parker (the guy that i was borrowing the book from) was super exited to see me and i was like... can i help you? and he pulls out a brand new bible and hands it to me. not only was i extatic, but it was like a reeeeally nice leather one and he even got my name engraved in the leather.

that's not the depth of the story however. ive come to know this guy quite well in group and the thing that made me stop and think was that i new for a fact that he had no money to even do something like this. in fact in group this last Monday he told us that after paying for books for school and for new parts in his truck that he had $.68 left in his bank account, and he works little to no hours alongside collage to try and live off of.

knowing this it realy gives that gift a whole deeper meaning to me. and the look on his face when he gave it to me was extadic! i dont know how he was able to get that for me, but now, i will always cherish that gift, and maby one day i can do the same for someone i will come to know in the future.

Some food for thought  I've heard a lot of folks draw parallels between certain aspects of the show and christian faith..

I'd like to draw another one.. at least in some regards, in the way the tree of harmony seems to work (so far) and the way the Holy Spirit works in our lives.  The connections to fruit of the spirit, and the elements of harmony is the easy one, shoot, kindness is outright a biblical fruit of the spirit.  On a deeper level however.. the Spirit invites our participation, but doesn't push His way into our lives, but only as much as we accept His invitation does he move in and guide our lives.  If you see the elements, the map, the rainbow power and the castle all as still different parts of the tree, and it's response to twilight and her friends aligning themselves to the elements of harmony, the parallel's grow even stronger..

Of course, there are problems with any parallel, since it's not perfect, but it's the closest I've see in modern media to any sort of portrayal of the way the Beloved Spirit seems to work.  Still this sort of thing is nice to think about, but unless it affects you, it has no real meaning.. so what can you take from it?  I see it as a call to ask myself.. how much do I align myself with the Spirit and seek His guidance, and how much to I simply do my own thing, even to the point of trying to do spiritual things this way.. and as a call to go deeper, to seek more of God, more of the Divine will in my life.

Hello

Not a convert. But i plan on converting to Roman Catholicism, or well to be more specific, to attend to a mass to see how it works like, but generally i am a Christian believer. I was wondering what your reasons for finding your way to Christianity was? For me it was because i tried to disprove it many times, but failed to do so. My arguments just didn't hold up. So i just gave up and accepted this religion into my heart. Although i am not 100% at the practice level yet, i try to understand it more.

Looking forward to Christmas soon aswell :twi:
