Imagination

I have something I would like to ask you guys for existential reasons, how does your imagination work? What I mean is when you read something, or hear something or imagine something, what is it like.

Personally I have a very vivid and active imagination, when I hear or read something I can see it in my head as if it were actually happening, I can hear the voices of the characters in my head when I read and I can even create entire scenarios, from images to whole scenes with characters and everything all in my head.

I was simply wondering how you guys imagine things?

If you have ever used CAD software, you know exactly how my brain works.

Im very good at visualizing scenes, objects, and mechanics. Im also pretty good with names and faces. I wouldnt say my memory is photographic, but it is pretty close to it.

Voices, im not so good with. I can imitate ones I have heard before in my head, but that is it. Reading books is a bit of a nightmare for me, because far to often I let Morgan Freeman narrate my book for me.

The Hobbit was extremely interesting.

My imagination is a crazy house. I write stories and draw and act and sing but still I never seem to be out of ideas. It really annoys me though because sometimes I can't sleep until I do something creative because it buzzes in my head like a goddamn mozzy. I hear voices too which is fun because they discuss my ideas and they expand them for me. It sounds fun right? Wrong. It's so annoying when you are trying to type like right now they are talking about donuts. DONUTS FOR PETES SAKE!!!

When you sense (hear, see, listen, etc) something, you feel it with your mind. Those things are complicated sets of waves or vibration that our brain can sense. Colours, smells, or the most obvious one, sounds. Those are vibrations. Our eyes, ears, nose have different way to read those waves or vibration. Our brain vibrates as well, so it's not impossible to read people's mind or presence by reading those waves. Simply like that. It will takes my whole life to explain those things.

Like what I said before, our brain vibrates. If you understand how computer works, you will understand how brain works and how incredible our brains are. When you imagine things, you form a set of complicated waves that feels like things such as scenery, sounds, smells, etc, in your mind. Simply like that. Too long to explain, trust me.

I can agree with lilymalady. My imagination is a complete disaster when it comes to EVERYTHING.

Yet since I can control it, (just not my music player) I have a fun time.

Generally the way my imagination works is mainly by daydreaming with oc's. I continue thier storyline with life n such. But apart from that, if im reading a story or a movie, I tend to either turn a book into a movie or for a movie I tend to rewrite everything to include myself in it.

With music I can get carried away in remixing stuff. Or, I just invent my own.

I like having a 10 year old side to my brain.

I picture everything in anime-style. I can't create pictures of real people's faces in my head. When I try to think of a place, I think of it as a water-colour painting or something. Nothing is vivid. Nothing is crisp. Everything is a blur, and I hate it. I have little to no imagination whatsoever.

For me it's hard to imagine something very vividly on purpose, but in the typical spots of relaxation where your mind is free (e.g. when you go to bed) to act I do indeed have a very vivd imagination and going through a whole movie while I making it up is now problem in my head.

If I like that? I can't really say, sometimes it makes sleeping really hard, sometimes it helps me develop the greatest of ideas and since I want to become a designer it might come in handy.

I have an okay imagination, but it could be better. When I'm reading, I can picture what's happening, but I always imagine the setting based off of something or a variation of something I've seen before in my life. I can't completely imagine something out of nothing, at least not very easily or well, if that makes any sense at all.

My imagination is my world, as it should be for everyone. if i imagine somthing, like when im reading a book or told somthing, my head always comes up with somthing i like, or pleasant, everytime. Whether it be the death of my family or a dream vacation, they transpire in my head as somthing to the least degree reasonable. Not to say the my family dying is reasonable :-P

Reading a book can take me a long time. Some people speed through them, but I read everything slowly as if it was being narrated (by Kevin Michael Richardson) and build an image of everything down to the last detail. Depending on how descriptive an author is of a place I may have to set the book down after reading the description of a beautiful landscape or city, taking a minute to visualize the whole thing to my satisfaction. Reading Salvatore's fight scenes can take me a long time because he describes every stroke, thrust, and swing of a weapon. It might be dull to some people, but for those with an (over)active imagination there's nothing more thrilling.

I'm very mechanically inclined as well. There isn't much I can't fix. Taking some things apart and putting them back together without looking is pretty simple for me if I just know what it's supposed to look like. The visual side of my imagination is more acute than the auditory portion.

You're the only one I know who pictures things with an anime stylization. Sounds imaginative to me.

I have a very active imagination in everyday life.  It's easy for me to switch my entire focus to my mind's eye, or "project" my thoughts into the scene around me.

I'm very cinematically-minded (if that makes sense) in that pretty much everything I read builds some kind of image in my imagination as I read it.  Unlike some other people here, though, I don't really have an internal monologue unless I'm either reading dialogue (in which case, funny voices galore!) or writing things (to make sure it doesn't sound stupid before it gets put on the page).

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

My imagination is as random as Pinkie Pie! First, I'm thinking about the Epcot ball rolling around the place causing destruction to a huge building made out of ice.

mine is a bit odd some times I see things in 3rd person so I can also see my self and some times its first person like from my own perspective. Over all my imagination has had the same continual story line since I was about 16 (now 22) the story changes depending on what im doing or watching at the time, Most of the time recently it has been ponys because of season 3, But it can adopt elements of just about any film or tv show to include me in the story line or include characters from films or tv shows in my own story line. I would say I have a very active imagination.

My imagination is often a bit...hazy. what I mean is that I can imagine something just fine, but the details are not very clear. I can imagine a scenario but maybe the colors don't stay the same as when I started thinking or the voice a character has changes with each sentence.

When I imagine things its always in bright colors even if its something sad. Everything is in my voice or the voices of people I know really well but most of the time its my voice. I have trouble with imagination unless its completely quiet or if I'm listening to music

No idea how to describe my imagination. Everything I come up with myself is either anime-styled, pony-styled, or my latest Transformers storyline. Otherwise, voices, scenarios and other fun stuff kinda falls into place

Mine can be quite annoying. Whenever I need to focus on something it makes up a billion ideas for a story, oc or a bunch of other stuff. And whenever I'm actually trying to think up ideas, or write the story, I get a complete writer's block and have to leave it for later. As for reading, most of the time I associate different surroundings and landscapes to places I've seen before. If there's nothing similar that I've ever seen, my imagination goes wild.

When I do think of stories on deliberate, I find myself walking around the room as I think of it. Especially if it's action... Kinda weird I know  :P

My imagination cab be quite chaotic. On some days I can visualize pretty well, on other days I can hardly think straight, much less imagine. One thing I often do on good days when my mind drifts is imagine what things would be like in alternative universes. By which I mean, an idea will come to me, I'll pan it out into an alternative universe, and the universe will flash before my eyes. Anyone else know what I mean?

As a whole though, I am very good with voices, even on bad days. I used to have long, deep, coherent conversations with myself in my head. I've cut down since I've started tulpaforcing to make it easier to converse with my tulpa.

And yes, ponies are becoming a big part of my imagination, too. Much of my daydreaming is pony related. ;)

I know that feels. I've had tons of story and picture ideas come to me when I least expect it. However, when it's time to pan them out...gone.

Not that entirely sure if I'm creative, but I know I have vivid ideas. I can picture so many scenes, and sometimes I end up not wanting to stop daydreaming. Sometimes my stories end up better than I plan if I focus longer on them. I can never tell a story off of a whim.

I have quite the imagination, it is just sad I don't have the art skills to put it on paper. I am great at remembering certain faces, voices, and how they act. Though having this kind of imagination is quite the pro/con. It is great when you are bored in the doctor's office, and thinking up inventions, but not so much when you are doing it in class :/.

The best way to describe my thought process is an eternal second person movie.

It is almost like I'm talking to myself while the visuals I have are related to what I'm saying, and my mind comments on them. It's strange, really.

I'm quite chaotic on the inside however, I think about the most random of things constantly. I cannot focus on one thing for very long. My doctor perscribed me ADHD meds to help with my concentration but it doesn't help all too much.

My imagination has that tendency to be oddly vivid, it creates things in my mind that become so tangible. As far as my senses concern, I've actually been able to trick my mind into believing fake events with some eery precision to detail at times. That's without drugs...
