She's my favorite character! and i really love her episodes, my favorites are Green Isn't Your Color and Rarity Takes Manehattan, i really like her personality and her voice (Tabitha best voice actress and Kazumi best singer!  )

(I've been working 40 hours a week at a summer internship.  Hence not a lot of time for the forum...)

I love Rarity although my personality is a bit different than hers.

 

 

Yep, its a mark of good characterization when you get right down to it. It's relatively simple to create a character with traits and personality that interest an audience and allow them to identify with the character from go. With Rarity, she was put together with so much love from Faust, the writers, and the VA's that she transcends the surface personification and aspects that are usually put into a character. When a character's personality is different that yours, and you still get pulled in, they did it right. Though, usually there are other traits that you find yourself identifying with. Subtle ones even.

 

For example I am most certainly not someone who puts a lot of stock in fashion (at least where I am concerned ... love it when the wife takes pride in her appearance though). I find the allure in her passion, her pride, her entrepreneurship, her creativity, her ability to be a naturally giving character and still be true to her individual needs and desires. I lost count of how many times she basically said, "Damn sleep ... I'm making art!" I could go on forever ... but I am preaching to the choir.

 

Simply put, she has a lot of layers to her. It's why I internally roll my eyes when someone simply refers to her as a diva, or fashionista. Which is extremely ironic considering I did the same thing until I finally saw a few of her signature episodes and found Rarity leapfrogging Twilight, Pinkie, and even AJ ... three characters that I could identify with almost right off the bat. Rarity really is one of the most endearing and complex characters in animation. Much love for that.

 

Oh, and then there's the fact that white and purple go really well together.

After defending Equestria from evil, general Rarity of the first Unicorn Cataphract regiment enjoys some leisure.

Sweetie belle sings a merry tune of heroism and glory for her, in exchange for stories of Raritys newest feats of battle.

 

I assume it would not only be the gleaming armour of the general that would blind her foes, but also her great beauty. A serious advantage in battle, as most enemies would not dare to raise their blades against her flawless form. Her sharp mind and horn-blade would do the rest.

 

General Rarity is also always very concerned about her troops, boosting their morale through her presence alone, but also with rousing speeches in her crystal clear sing-song voice, if necessary.

If that still does not suffice to grasp victory from the unfabulous jaws of defeat, she and her companions can always count on the excellent wargear she hoof-crafted for herself and her retinue, which is of course only the highest quality. As is it fitting for one of the most elite regiments in the army of the two sisters.

Silly Rarity! You having beauty sleep to become more gorgeous is like someone who swims in a lake and goes home when it starts to rain to not get wet.

The colours are really vibrant and the poses are cute. Especially in the second one. Looks like she imagines a new design on a model.

Rarity almost danced around me in her creative trance. She always did that when inspiration struck... Like in an endearing little ballet her slender limbs wrapped themselves around my body to take my proportions, tape measure in hoof. All the while Raritys full lips formed a adorable, thoughtful pout.

 

"We are almost done, darling. Just a little bit more patience please." She took a few steps back to get a better view, to better imagine how the finished suit she was making would look on me.

 

Actually, i just wanted to ask her if she could fix one of my overcoats that got damaged, but the instant i stepped into her boutique she grabbed me and started to take my measurements. I was not going to object... It was a pleasure to watch her when she was like this... Even more than usual...

 

The fire of creativity in her almond shaped, sapphire blue eyes. The genuine smile on her lovely face. The determination and passion that accompanied her every move and every step of her delicate hooves.

 

She was not only creating a work of art... She was a work of art.

 

She was not only looking like a goddess... She was a goddess.

I probably couldn't do it using a pencil either if I'm honest... ctrl Z is much less frustrating than trying to erase pencil marks and then being left with little bits of eraser on the paper and the line is never quite gone and.... *shudders*

Thank you all very much for helping get through today... Seeing pictures of my favorite ponies like Rarity always make me feel better; and the in depth analysis some of you shared today helped me to stand back and take a deep breath; in short...

Despite having quite possibly the worst morning of my entire professional life; I was able to turn things around and have am having a pretty good afternoon/evening at work; and I know that without even trying; Rarity and my friends her in her fan club helped me to do just that. I cannot thank your enough;
