Maybe thats the reason Rarity was nowhere to be seen on Nightmare Night...

Rarity probably had to make the costumes for half the ponies in Ponyville. And she never would have said no. Her sweetness and generosity made her accept all requests she got, and of course she managed to finish them all, for she would never let a customer down. It was difficult and very taxing, but she managed it... All ponies would shine in the spotlight, all ponies would wear unique and lovely costumes that would make them the center of attention.

 

All ponies but her...

 

Exhausted from the hard and tiring work she fell fast asleep when she finally tried to make her own costume. She did not mind that she is unable to show the rest of the world how lovely her own costume would have been and how incredibly gorgeous she would have looked wearing it, because making others happy is her biggest reward, and it makes her more happy than all adoration and time in the limelight ever.

 

When Sweetie Belle came home, she noticed Rarity laying on her sewing machine, and she knew the reason she had not seen her big sister all night after she got her costume from her and left to meet the rest of the crusaders. Grateful as she was she decided to part ways with the treats she gathered and give them to her big sister... For little Belle knew that Rarity deserved something just as sweet as her generous heart.

Its hardly a suprise that one of the most beautiful and precious forces of the whole wide world, the power of creation, art and inspiration, is the one Rarity commands over, the pony that herself is beautiful and precious beyond comprehension...

Being an artist is creating everything out of nothing. Taking the void and filling it with thought. Taking mundane things and changing them, improving them, molding them into things unique and lovely.

Things that would have never been born without inspiration.

 

How much more dreary would the world be without creative minds? Could we even suffer to live in it? Could we drag ourself out of bed each morning? For everything manmade around us is the result of an creative process, from the most mundane tool to the most extravagant painting. How senseless would life be without all that... without art?

 

Rarity is the queen... the goddess of this force of creation. She puts all her love and passion into her work, all her phantasy and skill. Yet she does not keep it for herself... no... She shares it with the world, makes others happy with her generous gifts. And every gift of her is the conclusion of a long journey of inspiration and creation. Something she puts all of her heart into. And often even sacrifices her own wellbeing for it.

I'm surprised that Spike is the only character to have a crush on Rarity. There's got to be stallions (and mares, but I doubt they would do that.) having a crush on Rarity and not just loving her when she charms them. I mean she's beautiful!
