I prefer Dr. Pepper. I'm sorry but I personally think Root Beer is gross(go ahead and attack me I fitght u in rl ). That being said, Dr. Pepper is definitely a much more appealing soda to me. It has a sweet taste and it is so refreshing when it is ice cold. :D

Certain brands of root bear are nasty. If I'm going to drink root bear, I want it to be the good stuff. But when it IS the good stuff, I like it a lot better than Dr. Pepper.

My default choice is Dr. Pepper unless I can get my hands on a good rootbeer, preferably served ice cold in a bottle.

Allot of people call me crazy for thinking this...but I think Doctor pepper is kinda bleh. Root Beer is totally the most delicious out of the two, though I don't drink either of them all that often.

BUT WHEN I DO! *Insurt gif here*

I drink only the finest...which is Brew

Root Beer all the way....

Although, I find it hard to try to compare Root Beer to Dr. Pepper....if you go to any resturant and they are brand specific, these seem to be the only two popular soda's that don't have substitute, like Cola/Pepsi, Mt. Dew/Mellow Yellow, Sprite/7up.  RB and Dr.P have unique flavors, so it's really hard to choose in a general sense.

Still Root Beer all the way....goes with everything sweet (ice cream)....it's beer without the beer (seriously what kid doesn't think that's cool?), plus, it's old school as you can get (Root Beer is often seen with wooden barrels and in glass containers a lot more than any other soda name)....Mt. Dew is only other one to come close (because Mountain Dew has a different meaning....)

Root beer all the way. Nothing beats a glass of A&W on a hot day, especially if it's from one of the few stores that at least mixes it on site.

Menard's root beer, the one with honey, isn't bad either.

Never had any of them. Are they related in taste?

First time I heard the name "root beer", it was in a video game called Toejam & Earl, and I just thought it was beer made of roots or something. We don't have root beet here in Sweden.

There's no root beer or Dr, Pepper in Sweden?

They're not really related except that neither are colas and neither are fruit flavored.

Isn't there some soda that you're famous for? I like to try unique sodas since I don't like alcohol or coffee.

Not related in taste no.

Dr. Pepper is a mix of 23 different sodas/flavors. If I recall correctly, that was every flavor he had in his soda fountain when he created it.

Root beer can also be called "sarsaparilla" and is made from a sugar syrup and sassafras and wintergreen, along with a pile of other spices and herbs. Occasionally it is combined with yeast to make it alcoholic, but most are usually non alcoholic and caffeine free. Its named for its large amount of roots used and traditionally it's made like beer. It is one that can be made at home, if one wants to. Coca Cola may  distribute it under the "barq's" name. A glass goes well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream(as in with the root beer in the glass).

edit: reading a bit more, I've seen "Julmust" described as a cross between root beer and Coca Cola, so if that helps any...
