Should I feel ashamed about liking grimdark and shipping?

I've read and seen some really good grimdark and shipping pics/fics, but I feel as though I shouldn't be enjoying them. If everyone I know knew about my liking for these things, they would judge me as some disgusting freak of nature, and lately I see a lot of bronies against these things, too. Should I feel ashamed?

Of course not. Life is a very precious thing. You shouldn't spend most of it worrying about what other people like or dislike. If you enjoy it, than that should be all that matters to you.

lawlno. Ain't nothing wrong with either of those things, especially shipping. Shipping is extremely common, so thats nothing bad at all.

And Grimdark is just a personal preference. Nothing wrong with it either. So, no, you shouldn't feel any shame towards liking either of those things.

no man, i like clo-fics since they are hilarious and i have showed them to friends and they don't judge me for it. If you like it then show some pride. dont back down or feel ashamed of something that you like no matter what people may say. Just because other Bronies are against it doesnt mean it should influence your feelings

I love myself some clopfics. They tend to be hilarious and some writers really create some good scenes.

And I'll say that I don't like grimdark, but honestly, it's none of my business what you like.

As long as you're not hurting anyone, you shouldn't feel ashamed of anything or think that you are somehow wrong. And if people judge you for it, THEY are stepping out of the line.

No. Even though I find shipping pretty stupid, I don't find it shameful or dishonoring. I feel the same about grimdark, and pretty much everything else related to it.

You definitely shouldn't feel ashamed or worry about what other people think of you. Personally, I don't like combining that kind of content with MLP, and I don't like disturbing or violent media in general. However, I'm not going to judge you or anyone else if they do like it. That's their own personal preference, and not my place to judge. So, don't worry. There's nothing wrong with you, and no reason why you should feel bad.

Liking something is not what you should let shame you. If you started running around trying to force those things on people who don't want anything to do with it, that'd be a different story, but just liking something is a personal opinion, and everyone is entitled to like what they like. I despise grimdark, but I don't care if other people like it :3 So as long as they don't flaunt it everywhere for the purpose of shoving it on others.

No one can tell you what genre of writing is good or bad. It's all base on your taste and preferences. If you like these genres, then that fine. It's what you like, not what everyone else likes, but what you like.

I personally have nothing at all against either - not too fond of gore (I hate even the CONCEPT of Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory) but dark is great (Story of the Blanks is one of the fandom's best achievements) ; most of the fics I've read are of the shipping type, as I'm a huge fan of Sensual Fiction General. So I wouldn't feel too bad.

Never understood the appeal myself, but that doesn't mean you should feel ashamed about it if you like it.  Heck, I don't doubt that there are some good grimdark and ship fics out there, and hey, if you enjoy them, good for you, that's all that matters!

Not at all! It's your personal preference, and everyone has their own. Don't feel ashamed because some people don't agree with you. I personally like shipping, and although I haven't read/seen much, I like grimdark a little bit. I'm sure if anyone I knew asked, they would be weirded out. But just know that none of that should matter, like what you want to like.
