Who here doesn't like violence?

It depends. I personally can't stand sick gore or whatever you call stuff like Mortal Kombat is. Sane manly violence? Why not? I like punching things or people, with permission of course. That thing called "law" doesn't really suit me.

Note that I only love violence as a kind of "sport" I don't like running to people, yelling at them like a bad-tempered nuts, and make a fight. I will stay quiet if there's nothing to do with people, but if they act arrogantly and act like "I will show you my might" thingy, I will go for them and show them what fighting really is.

I don't mind fantasy violence. I mean I used to play a lot of MMORPGs and those are not really violent, you just hit your opponents and their lose a few hit points but that's it.

But generally, I hate violence, I mean I hate violence when the violence is here to sell things. That's why I don't watch many movies. I only go to the cinama to watch animation movies.

Then I love games like LIMBO, which is very dark, but the violence here is artistic. To me, violence is not a matter of blood or death. It's a matter of ideas.

Any modern military realisic FPS is 1000x more violent than any Mortal Kombat game of stuff like that.

I'm a pacifist so I'm against violence in pretty much every form whatsoever. Why? Well I just don't see the point of violence, it only breeds evil and the world would be a way better place if everyone just agreed to be pacifists.

When it comes to games though... I really don't care. In games you take the role of someone else and nobody actually gets hurt. Why would you care about violence in games? There's really not any bad things about it (please don't say people get violent because of violent games) if it fits in the game and makes the game fun.

I'm not sure how to explain myself here without seeming creepy but yeah I like violence but don't get me wrong, You won't catch me running around hurting people in any sort of way.

I'm a fan of Grimdark and Nightmare Fuel content so over the past months I've grown numb to violence and when most people would look away from something violent I'm the one that would keep watching.

Because of this I've developed a few odd fetishes I won't mention here. Even with all this written I still have this urge to help people who are in danger, If I were to see someone injured and helpless I'd probably rush to their side to assist them in any way I could. I like violence but I would never wish it upon anyone.

Well, I don't particularly care for it in real life. I tend to try and avoid it at all costs unless I'm just fully enraged, which, hasn't had to happen yet thankfully. I have a low pain tolerance, so it wouldn't make sense for me to go out of my way either.

Don't really care for seeing it much either.

However, I really freaking love it in video games. :D

Every execution you can do in the Gears of War series makes me so giddy to watch over and over again. Tagging your enemies and watching them explode into a glorious red mist with little giblets flying here and there is by far the most amazing thing to watch ever.

Kicking your opponent's head into a mushy pulp with just one kick of your gigantic boot is sooo satisfying.

Don't even get me started on the sound of a head popping from a shot to the dome.

I usually go out of my way in this mod for Doom to make sure the walls get covered in blood nicely.

All of this brings me much pleasure and joy.

God, I sound like a damn psychopath.

Oh, and I seem to have forgotten to mention one thing.

Mortal Kombat fatalities make me giggle like a little school girl.

I used to enjoy the shock value of violence, but as I get older...I don't really find myself seeking it out. I honestly don't even notice it much any more in the video games I play. I guess until someone mentioned it in this thread, I didn't even really think of Halo as violent (which is one of my favorite games). I guess I'm not really paying attention to the fact that I'm stabbing/shooting people anymore, it's just a number, lol.

I'm unfortunately not that numb to it in real life. Because of my experiences, if someone so much as raises a voice I get extremely defensive. I have seen a lot of violence in real life and none of it was enjoyable or funny and I get very annoyed by people who sometimes think that it ever is.

Violent video games, yes, yes, yes!

Violence in real life: no, no no!

Funny, I don't like Dead Space, Mass Effect, Team Fortress 2, or CoD, mainly for lack of interest, but love other games with violence in it. :P

Are you kidding? I love violence. I like it in real life, and in video games, do not judge me. Why do some people cry when they see violence? Violence is one of the things i love in life.

I am not really into violence for the sake of violence with the exception of stuff that is so over the top that it is actually humerous like the Lobo comic series or the fanfic Cupcakes for example. But if something is well written or a game is fun than whether or not it has violence is of little concern to me. Real life violence on the hand I completely and thoroughly despise and think that there is way too much violence in society.

Cupcakes (fanfic) is a good example of pony gore, but it doesn't scare me that much. It's because i like violence, and i find horror movies interesting. I'm going to see one now.

I consider there to be different levels of violence determined by realism and gore. I am perfectly fine with something like tom and jerry, it's a harmless classic with cartoony slapstick humour. The presence of blood and gore is what does it for me and the level of realism. There just comes a point where I feel uncomfortable to watch a film or play a video game.

In real life, I don't like violence at all. I express myself through words, never through my fists.

Well, seeing as I was just playing Unreal Tournament... I'm going to have to say I like violent media.

Violence in real life is a different story. I'm mostly neutral towards real violence; yeah, it's bad, but it happens and we can't change that. Sometimes it's necessary, sometimes it isn't, sometimes I'm glad it happened, sometimes I'm not, but it's always going to be there. Conflict is the way of nature, and violence is a manifestation of conflict.

Depends really.  Righteous or competitive violence is inspirational to me, meaningless violence is disturbing and I can't bring myself to play any games with it.  Even if they're supposedly highly recognized games, even like CoD, I have really trouble genuinely enjoying myself playing them

Violence Is my thing... I may be a girl, but anytime there is actiony violence, count me in. Especially in GTA IV, all  do is run over people. I don't follow the story at all.

Mom: What on earth are you doing?

Me: Running over people

Mom: Oh child.....

In games, I'm all for violence (even the mindless violence) as long as it's fun. In movies and tv shows, unless it's mindless violence/gore, I like it since it serves a purpose and provides some action.

Does anyone ever finish GTA stories? In my family we would take turns going around creating mass destruction, seeing how long we could last and how many stars we could rack up. I've never finished any of the GTA campaigns...

Oh my gosh that's amazing! I only know people that finish them and not cause destruction. I just love using the helicopter as well (Have all the cheats, especially the walk free one)

When it comes to video games, I tend to focus on what the violence is more than the fact that "oh check it out I justblew that body fifty feet in the air and there's guts everywhere AHAHAHA" For example, when I play cod, when I kill somebody, I don't really think of it as taking a life, it's more like I'm generating points or getting a flag where it's supposed to be. With games, I go into a sort of sub concious state over the violence, and not really think about it at all.

In real life, violence is really only a painful way of getting an adrenaline rush. After several hours of playing violent video games and thinking over what happens when I do what, I've learned that violence is not really the answer. Even if it's the "supa cool" way of fixing a problem, or "he deserved it" there's indefinetly gonna be dome kind of punishment that'll affect you negatively in the long run. Still, throwing on a pair of boxing gloves and a helmet to blow off steam or for a bet isn't that bad.

in general, I don't like violence. I don't like the concept oftwo countries blowing the shit out of each other with nukes, I don't like the sight of a police shootout between junkies and the police, and terrorism like scenes in video games and movies (MW2 terminal level, anypony?) disgusts me. When it's not taken seriously and nobody gets hurt (sparring, video games, dark humor), I don't give a damn.

Depends all on how it's done. Violence can be a beautiful thing if it's done properly without being senseless. When I look at a move like lets say 'Kill Bill' I knew it was gonna be a walking blood bath but the thing is Tarantino directed it to be artistic in a way.

I do not like violence, gore, horror.. anything like that. It all freaks me out. Keep it far far away from me. I've thought that I was one of very few who feel this way about these things but it's comforting to know there are others.

I don't like violence such as abusive parents, or thugs hurting and robbing people. But, I don't think violent video games or entertainment spread violence in real life, and in fact children should at some age be exposed to this stuff so when they are older this type of thing doesn't hit them like a wall. It is pretty similar to disease exposure, as people who are always sanitary receive diseases much harder than those who have been around dirty things.

I respect the opinions of people who don't like violents games or shows, I don't mind that, and in fact can easily understand. Just as long as your not imposing your rule onto others.

I like violence when it's used for these reasons:

-dark humor

-as adding to the game

I like Fallout games (Not as much 3 and NV as 1 and 2. 2 especially) because you can play the game without killing anyone or go on a murder rampage.

IRL? Fuck that, I'll fistfight for my friend if push comes to shove but war im against.

I only love you platonically.

As in plate tectonics.

As in two bodies sliding against each other.
