So I figured that we might as well make this thread

Basically we'll discuss about all of those amazing artists that have died in the past years

The ones that I think of the most are:

Kurt Cobain

Johnny Cash

Jimi Hendrix

Freddie Mercury

Ian Curtis

John Lennon

Brad Nowell

Robert/Bob Moog (Not a musician but he did invent the Minimoog which was one of the first synthesizers that was widely used by musicians)

Syd Barrett

Ronnie James Dio

Mike Starr

Lane Staley

Adam Yauch

This is a good idea for the more Musically Inclined here on the forums.

Luckily all of the Artisits/Performers off the top of my head are still alive.

Yeah same here most of the artists that I know are still alive

Though there has been some really great legends in music who have died

That's a great list you have there but, you left out Chuck Schuldiner.

Some other good musicians that aren't alive anymore:

Per "Dead" Ohlin (Ironic isn't it?)

Quarthon

Cliff Burton

Euronymous (He was a bit of jerk hough :l)

George Harrison (You put John but not George?)

John Bonham

Dimebag Darrell

Jim Morrison

I honestly don't know very many musicians, but I do believe Bon Scott deserves an honorable mention. He (along with Angus Young) are the ones that really gave ACDC the unique sound and status it still has today, and his powerful, masculine voice really stood out above the other singers of his generation. Born on the 9th of July in 1946, and died at the young age of 33 on February 19, 1980. Rest in Peace.

I'm gonna get hated for this, but I gotta mention The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold.

I know he's an overrated drummer, but I still think he should be remembered. I personally thought he was a pretty good drummer. Not anywhere near the best, but still good.

Yeah Bon Scott was pretty awesome. I liked him better than the new singer they got. Brian Johnson, or whatever his name is. I think that's his name lol

I knew you were gonna get at me for that

And I only discovered about his death today

George Harrison (You put John but not George?)

Oops, I forgot to add him

Euronymous (He was a bit of jerk though :l)

Oh god Mayhem, they're a band with quite the story behind them

I don't really think of him too often since I don't like A7X

Though I will admit that he was a good drummer

And he's definitely over praised by many people

I don't really like ACDC at all

Though he does deserved to be remembered

As much as I like Bon Scott though, I really think Brain Johnson deserves more respect. I love his high pitched, evil sounding voice, and along with Angus and Young, is one of the oldest members. If someone told me the three were brothers I wouldn't be surprised. It's a close call for me between Brian Johnson and Bon Scott, but I believe Brian takes the prize, because the early hits (Highway to Hell, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, and T.N.T.) I like more for the acoustics. And I'll say it now, those hits sound a little bit better with Brian singing them.

Yeah i think that the biggest reason A7X gets so much hate is because of the stupid fanboys who go around saying "omg the rev was da best drummer in the whole world" or "a7x is da best metal band eva!!!"

Stupid fanboys make the regular fans like me look bad -__-

Yeah sad he died at that age but to be honest I don't think AC/DC could have found a better replacement than Brain Johnson and for that I give them props for staying together for so long. When Dio past away that was hard to take in too. You think about it for second all those artists mentioned above who past away they left a *huge* mark on music today and bands of today.

One of those I will mention Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin.

Look at Chuck Berry that guy is in his 90's I believe and he is still kicking! I have so much respect for those artists of that time.

The fact of how someone would hate a band because of it's fanbase is very ignorant

I don't like A7X because their music either sounds boring or it sounds "meh" to me

Not because they are over praised, I think that A7X are definitely over rated

But I don't hate them because other people like to throw them into the spotlight that they don't deserve

I could imagine a huge list of musicians, but I know of one musician that no one is familiar with. Even though he is not dead, he is really good with music.

Danny Elfman, a composer that is very famous for his composing of music in Spider-Man the Movie and Spider-Man 2. Sadly, he had to give up his role to Christopher Young, since Sam Raimi and Elfman did not want to work together.

Well, if we're talking about deceased musicians, then I feel obligated to post this song here:

"Rock And Roll Heaven" by The Righteous Brothers mentions several deceased artists by name: Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Jim Morrison, Jim Croce, and Bobby Darin. (The video shows several other deceased artists, some of whom I don't recognize.) Of course, this song was released in 1974 (and was a #3 hit on the Hot 100), so many other famous musicians have died since then.

Hats off to Jon Bonham.

I have the utmost respect for those guys that are still going on with their stuff. One of the many reasons why I love ACDC so much is that they're in their fifties, yet they're still doing what they do best, hardcore rock and roll. Most of the time when musicians get old they start playing something soft and easy and entirely different, but not ACDC. I mean look at Angus Young, he's still doing his crazy spasms and duck walks and all those lovable things he does.

Oh! I completely forgot to mention the rat pack guys, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Ole' Blue Eyes, Frank  Sinatra. Frank Sinatra the most, as he's my hero and role model.

Also gotta give mention to the first lady of Blues, Ella Fitzgerald, and her husband, Old Satchmo, also known as Louis Armstrong.

Well at my school plenty of people like A7X. Even kids who listen to rap like A7X. Yes even a lot of girls like A7X. Well you know the old rule, "if it's popular some people will like it and others will hate it". I tried listening to them

once and I didn't like them.

Speaking of girls, I wished more girls shared a similar taste in music as me. :(

My awesome taste in music will keep me a virgin forever.
