I also find the concept hilariously hypocritical when you examine it closely. This so-called New Lunar Republic would be based upon the leadership of Princess Luna. Note the title in her name. What kind of democratic revolution is it when the main leader of said revolution is one of the two diarchs of the nation?

 

Plus I've never seen a good reason to oppose Princess Celestia anyway. Unlike some, I do not see her as either a tyrant or a troll. She's a wise and kind leader who does the best she can for Equestria.

I've wondered that too. I wouldn't know who to join when I look at the picture above. NLR has Dashie but the SE has Twilight :P

Considering that Luna has been pretty much static for 1000 years while Celestia has probably been mastering more and more magic, I'm not about to bet on Luna in a fight.

Why would we want to overthrow celestia anyways? I mean no one is complaining about the current system, heck there economy is better then ours. And Luna seems happy, what exactly would she change? For all we know, Luna could be pro- ACTA

If the Lunar Republic wins, the rebels would soon find out that without Celestia they are doomed, the country would soon fall into chaos and then a dictator would rise up, but if the Solar empire wins, everything will remain just as good as usual, or maybe even better, because all of those rebels would be dead
