I drew... Rainbow Dash?

Yup, I sure did.

It was kind of a challenge honestly, what with the wings, the colors, and the cutie mark(which I still think might be a little too big), but I think it turned out pretty well! If you think the coat is too dark, I used the lightest blue I had in my set of 24 colored pencils, so I did what I could! There is a rather noticible darker spot in the middle though, but I tried to color as lightly as I could here. I should also mention I used a guide, but I do tend to practice by drawing random OCs as well.

It's not too bad, I suppose.  Those eyes are really wonky though.  I would recommend using the outline style that many artists use.

It helps create the position the pony is in without actually committing to major strokes.  I think that was the problem this was suffering from.

Hey, it's a start! Not bad. Honestly, it's a bit rough, but it can be cleaned up easily. Try using smaller, lighter, more delicate strokes of your pencil.

 

But I like it a lot! It's actually really good. Magnifico, amigo. I will definitely be watching for more of your stuff!

The eyes look awkward, the legs look awkward, her tail makes it look like she got done sleeping, and a part of her right wing overlaps her left.

Yes there is wonky eyes, but the drawing is still really good. Its better than what I can do, so I won't judge.

Hesitant? Nah, it's just that I don't think one would expect me to draw Rainbow Dash is all. And it's not really a start, I tend to draw ponies quite a bit sometimes when I feel like it, I'm just not excellent at it.

Looks pretty good overall, . There is a few noticeable things you might wanna fix for next time though.

 

First of all the body is a bit big I think, Its possible its just the fact the hooves are a bit messed up aswell, speaking of those the front hoof in the background is a bit far up to the front of the body, and the curve into the bottom of it and the actual bottom of it need to be more smooth and fluid. The hoof is also crooked a bit . Some of the others have the same issue.

 

Also you don't really have to draw like a connection as if the hoof goes out from the body, its more attached to the bottom, so just kinda draw it on the bottom, without any lines between the hoof and the body really, if that makes sense. The back Hooves need to be curved a bit more.

 

There is also a good bit of edges that are kinda flat. Particularly in the mane and tail. Try and make them a bit sharper next time maybe. instead of a gradual curve make it more sudden.

 

Anyways enough critiquing the bad, You overall did quite a good job with it! Keep practicing, because practice makes perfect .

I'm going to be a bit honest with you.

Yes, her face looks a bit warped with that eye a bit too far to the right, the corner of the hooves are a bit TOO cornered, make them a little more rounder, but not too round to make it look like a ball.

 

I also wanna add the chest (the front of the neck) needs to be more curved than cornered too.

 

 

You got the right idea of Rainbow Dash, and also the color looks good.

heyo, How you doin'?

 

This is a very nice early attempt at ponies. If you would allow it, here are a few things I'd like to point out for your improvement: 

 

-It seems like you're chicken-scratching- by which I mean that you're having very insecure strokes, going back and forth and back and forth. The strokes are also very wobbly.

 

-Her tail doesn't thin out towards the roots, and is much, much thicker as it gets more away from the roots. You'll see this in the image below.

 

-Her body is rather clunky, kind of like a submarine. This is mainly because there are barely any noticeable curves, like this:

-Be careful with your anatomy. You can track where the pony's leg bones are with the four simple points I've drawn. Of course, hindlegs are different to the forelegs. Most artists struggle with the hindlegs,since they are considerably less flexible than a pony's forelegs.

 

-There is also is not much distance between her neck and her chest.

 

-I'd like to reinforce my statement about curves. When drawing ponies, never, EVER draw a completely straight line. Ponies are fun to look at, they have smooth, interesting curves that define their bodies. I noticed that you had a problem with this, particularly on her hooves. Look at this:

 

-You're having some varying pressures in the colouring. I can tell you're using constant direction: 

BUT you're leaving lots of blank spaces between the coloured sections. Try to colour slowly and smoothly. Make sure there are no completely white spots. Control how much pressure you're putting on the coloured pencil. It affects how dense, how strong, the stroke is.

 

-Though ponies do have interesting curves, Rainbow Dash has sharp ends at her tail and on her mane.

 

-The ears are much too small, and much too attached to the body. Compare:  to

 

-Finally, I'm going to assume you did not use guidelines for her face. I made an example of how to use guidelines for the face, but then I found out that it's fairly useless, but here: 

 You can't really see the guidelines I used to draw this, even if I put it in red. I'll put some links below which includes help on pony faces.
