I actually really enjoy musical movies and shows. Phineas and Ferb is one of the best.

 

I'm also a huge fan of songs like Friends From The Other Side in Princess and the Frog, In The Dark Of The Night from Anastasia and Friend Like Me from Aladdin.

we had them (highschool musical) playing at wal-mart many years ago...so I know how you feel. sad thing is, Zac Effron's career is forever cursed, because if he's not playing some "basketball playing, singing halfwit" then the movie, isn't worth the time of day, as many of his followers state...though I personally think Disney is somewhat responsible for careers being ruined. people half expect them, to play kid friendly roles, in family movies, for all eternity. I mean, come on...seriously?

 

I don't expect Miley Cyrus to continue being "Hanna Montana", if she wants to play in a more serious suspense role, then I say let her. If the cast of HSM, or any other Disney show, wants to take on more serious roles in movies, like action thrillers, or whatnot, then I say LET. THEM.

 

We can't expect them to be "kids" forever...kids at heart, yes...that's fine.

Everybody likes The Nightmare before Christmas. It has great and memorable songs and it is a wonderful story. But you know, I guess if you don't want to like it, you don't have to.

I don't actually have a "worst" as I tend to love musicals in all forms so the only way I'd contribute to this discussion is to take the opposing route, not out of spite but to be included in the conversation. Much better than making a topic that's exactly opposite of this one which would just be obnoxious and pointless.

Do the straight-to-video Disney movies qualify in this thread? If so, then I'd go with The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. I only saw it about once when it was first released, and even at the age of 8, I hated it. Not only did it have very lazy writing and an incredibly weak plot (it was just basically the first movie's plot in reverse), but the songs in that movie were painfully bland and forgettable. Even as a kid, I could tell right from the first few minutes of the movie that the songs were gonna be total crap.

 

I haven't seen any of those High School Musicals or any DCOMs in general, and I'm not even gonna start.

Just so we're clear here, there is a HUGE difference between the Disney Channel and Disney itself. Disney gave us things such as Bambi, The Lion King, The Lady and the Tramp and of course Toy Story, among numerous other amazing things like Fantasia.

Just to let you know, there were many Disney musicals that were amazing. Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, The HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, and The Lion King are just some examples. I agree that The Little Mermaid sucked though.

I've disliked Disney Channel for years. About 5 years ago I hated it with a fiery passion. It's died down now, one of the reasons being Gravity Falls, but I still think all the Disney TV musicals are pretty bad. I'm a Mouseketeer all the way.

I've never really been much of a fan of the Disney songs, but in The Little Mermaid, Under the Sea was pretty good, and catchy. But I also liked When will my Life Begin. But otherwise, especially concerning the TV series, and the actual princesses themselves, no me gusta.

My little sister sits next to a girl in her class who is obsessed with Disney princesses.   She's 12 BTW. Just so you know.

I love me some musical theater, especially Disney movies.  But, going specifically on songs alone, if I had to pick a worst for Disney musicals (as far as ones I've seen anyway) it would be Mulan.  Make a Man Out Of You is an amazing song.  The rest of the songs in that movie, I find, are pretty well intolerable.

Pocahontas has great songs. Have you heard Steady as the Beating Drum or Colors of the Wind? Those are some amazing songs. Please tell me you like those at least. How about I won't say I'm in love from Hercules. That's a pretty nice song as well.

Alright, now that I have that out of the way, let me explain why I think that: Ariel starts out the movie complaining and, well, whining about not being able to be on the surface world, despite being a bucking princess of Atlantis. I mean, Part of Your World is just her griping in a musical fashion. Her father won't give her what she wants, so she runs off to Ursala, who gives her an obviously bad deal, and she stupidly accepts. Her selfish choice to do whatever the hell she wants, and thinking she knows better than her father, almost gets the whole world destroyed. And then at the end of the movie, her father just gives her what she wants like a spoiled brat! She didn't learn anything, she just whined, complained, nearly caused Armageddon, then got what she had been griping about. Not a bad movie per sea, but I couldn't stand Ariel. I mean, she's 16? How many 16 year old girls know exactly where they want their lives to be going and stick to that plan? Alright, rant over. But actually, my least favorite Disney Musical is Home on the Range. Do I really need to explain this one?

so yea worst musicals of Disney "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" dont get me wrong i love the songs but the animation just ruined the all those great classical masterpieces 

and o god "Enchanted" was the worst musical ive seen so far (im not counting the DCOM right now )

but i loved their musical "newsies" (the movie not the Broadway one the)

Good movie, but one bad song, simple. This is "One Last Hope." I cannot choose a least favorite Disney song, because I liked a lot of them.
