[Genreponies] Rock and Electro Mascots /First Drafts/

Hallo, RayFriedh here, back with some more genreponies for @Feld0's website, Pony.fm, which recently went online!

 

Today's post features the Electro and Rock pony. Many thanks to @Modphase and  for their suggestions, which helped greatly in these designs!

Yep, that definitely looks like a school boy gone bad!   A great many kudos to you for taking the time to do these, they really look like they're gonna add some pizzazz to the site. Hope to see more soon.

Lookin' fancy. The Dubstep/electronic pony looks a little under detailed, however. If I may suggest a little; make him more buzzed. If he is the face of digital music, make it seem like he just sat on an electric fence. Make his mane dance to The Robot. xD
Also, he's missing the obligatory headphones and/or shades. :3

I'm gonna say that one thing is that I think the Dubstep/Electronic pony needs some type of accessory, not sure what, maybe a headset or shades or something, it just feels like it might be missing something.

 

The rock one looks pretty well done I'd say.

 

They're overall looking pretty darn good, this is gonna be awesome when it finally is all done .

Yuss. I'd love to hear what you have to say about the future designs of the ponies.

Also, I hope I got the mane okay. You mentioned the colour, and an idea of what the mane would be like. While drawing it, though, I accidentally made that pointy bit near the ear, and thought that that would be a good addition to it. I hope it was at least vaguely similar to what you what you were thinking of.

ocarp. Actually, Dawn Rider said that he imagined the pony wearing headphones, and I totally meant to draw them, but it seems like I forgot when I focused on dat mane.

Not so sure about the shades, but yeah, I should have drawn those headphones. Also, Akoura, I think it would be best if the ponies I created were left simple, but memorable. I don't want to create a complete mess, and I don't want to create a blank character. I need to make them memorable, but not overwhelming.

Thanks, ActFast. I'm just designing these, others will vector, and of course, colour them, in a style more like the show. I think it's still up to me to decide the colours, though.

True. You don't want something so confusing, that you don't know where the mane starts and tail ends. However, at the same time, you're drawing characters the are designed for music genres. While it's good to make them look 'cool', it is also important that their design is something that reflects the genre they are representing. 
Just like the Rock Pony above. We can see that it is an AC/DC reference. AC/DC is famous for their Rock music. The pony represents the genre.

You just need to make sure that he doesn't become to outrages as some people believe Dubstep/Electro artists are all like (*cough* Skrillex and his Hair XD *cough*). Awesome! I especially like the rock. Even more so with the AC/DC reference I honestly would suggest adding a little Rolling Stones reference with the mane, but it looks great this way too

 

I personally think the electro pony shouldn't be an earth pony. Maybe another unicorn, I think that's more fitting. But that's just me.

And I salute YOU!  Those are cracking, mate, simply cracking!  As much as I dislike dubstep, he looks so cute :3  And rocker pony is looking very chilled   Not only that, but you've managed to encompass most strands of rock in a single image!  British New Wave, American Metal, Aussie Metal and a little bit of Grunge all in one!

Thankye for the feedback! I don't really think that a rolling stone mane would look as good on him while still displaying some effects of grunge rock.

 

Aaaaaand as for the Electro pony... well, what about a pegasus? They seem active, happy, carefree. The unicorn would be better for dubstep- it's a harder, louder genre, but also does have some electronic feel to it....
