 Im not talking about the actual sign im talking about the name. also i read through thae wiki article and the only place # is refereed to as a hash-tag is in twitter. anywhere else its called the number sign or hash.

Because you were most likely taking English Structure/Usage courses. The ones I would have to take are English Composition courses, where I'd have to write 20 page essays on extremely detailed subjects, and the professors nitpick at every grammar and style error you just so happen to look over.
