They royally bucked up....

a 45^o degree angle should go further than that. Way further than that. They mixed it up with a 90^o degree angle.

Golden Throne has been maintained for 5000 years longer than it was supposed to.

Bolters from the Age of Technology are still in active service.

Weapons 15 to 20 thousand years of age still work.
