Let me tell you a story about the supernatural...

 

 

I remember distinctively one camping trip, deep in the woods of god knows exactly where. Roads were all dirt and rock and there were no people for miles. I was about 15 or so, in the Scouts, and several of us had awoken to hear loud drumming coming from the forest. Confusion soon set into fear, as we knew there couldn't have been anyone there. Several of us, 7 in total had set out, curious more then anything, what it could be.

The closer we got, the more fear had begun to set in, every so often there was a loud scream and a crack as if something was hitting rock or hard wood.

No one spoke.

We reached the clearing and saw a large stone statue in the center, and around it, more then 3 dozen naked, almost human men dancing round and round it. They seemed to twist and contort with every movement, then quickly twist and contort back to a vaguely normal form.

3 of us fained right away, another fought the urge to scream right then and there.

The statue almost seemed to glow in the dim moonlight, its shape was something not unlike an unholy cross between an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings. I had never seen anything quite like it, except in my darkest of nightmares.

I could only gather a small bit of what these...men were saying, a chant, and it goes like this...

 

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
