Brostep makes my ears bleed (I'm looking at YOU Skrillex)

I find that more crap is being put out today than ever before

Guns and Roses is overrated

Stop treating Pink Floyd fans as druggies

Like Scootalove said earlier, rap today is a far cry from the past

Coldplay is not that good

Lil Wayne is not a revolution to the Rap industry. He is a generic modern-day rapper.

Metal needs more love

Dance fads are the bottom of the barrel

You know that the music industry is crashing when a Korean song is a hit in America

Edit: I meant brostep, not dubstep. Sorry if I raised and eyebrow or two.

Dubstep makes my ears bleed (I'm looking at YOU Skrillex)

I hope you know that there is more to Dubstep than the annoying guys like Skrillex that get the brostep label

Guns and Roses is overrated

You're right on that

I'm not a very tolerant person when it comes to interacting with other people.

@Rio

Thanks for pointing that out. I never really got into dubstep genre, and the ones that I've heard from friends were really terrible. I never really heard of those ones before. Once I heard them, those were pretty decent.

Alright, ready to hate me forever? Here we go...

I don't like Iron Maiden as a band, and musically pretty much not anything after Fear of The Dark.

I think Rebecca Black is a decent singer with a lot of potential.

I don't think AC/DC are more than a mediocre band who repeats themselves too much

I think KoRn is the single best Nu-Metal act out there, and that Nu-Metal as a genre is great

I think Djent is a generic genre and not very different from Deathcore, and I don't like the typical Djent-amp guitar sound very much

Polka is a underrated and totally awesome genre

Compression and loudness is a good thing when used for the right music

I think A Flock of Seagulls is the best New Wave band ever and that such acts as Duran Duran and Blondie are overrated

I think Grindcore musically is a great genre, I just don't like how many try to be "loloffensive" and have autopsy pictures for album art and such

I hate Hair Metal and Power Ballads with a passion (outside of some Aerosmith and Van Halen songs if that even counts)

I think Metalcore is a great genre with a lot of fun to listen to bands, as well as Emo, Screamo, Post-Hardcore and such.

I don't like Indie Rock outside of some Math Rock and a few scattered singles, and find the genre to be boring at best most of the time

I think Dimmu Borgir and Emperor are the best Black Metal bands

I think Abnormality is a amazing Death Metal band and that Visions is the best song on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack

I think Slash is a overrated and terrible guitarist (I have seen him play live with Ozzy, the man cannot play Black Sabbath solos, at all)
I don't like The Living Tombstone's music and think the originals for most of the songs he remixes are better than the remixes

No way dude, me too. I really hate Bon Jovi.

Now that, we can agree on.

Stop treating Pink Floyd fans as druggies

Distance is my personal favorite, My Demons was the first Dubstep album that I got into, it's definitely worth checking out. Mala's pretty good too, but I haven't heard much by him

And finally, I am not alone in the world anymore of not liking Bon Jovi!

None of the people who actively post in this thread like Bon Jovi at all, honestly I can't stand them one bit at all, just like the rest of us here

Well thank you hehe, and yeah thanks for reminding me about forgetting Post-Hardcore there. And finally, I am not alone in the world anymore of not liking Bon Jovi!

Bon Jovi has got to be one of the WORST musical acts, ever.

Poison is also really awful, weather or not they're worse than Bon Jovi is up to you to decide.

By the way, listen to Repercussions, I personally think that's Distance's finest work to date

I think Grindcore musically is a great genre, I just don't like how many try to be "loloffensive" and have autopsy pictures for album art and such

There are a lot of Grindcore bands who choose not to take the "gore path" with their music

I agree, it's a musically great genre, but a lot of people just take the wrong approach to it. That's a real shame, as many people just assume that Anal Cunt is the only band in the genre and just ignores all the gems

I couldn't give two shits about the teenybopper music (seeming as people either like or hate it) it's a fad, nothing more

BOTDF is the worst band ever (Everyone in my RL loves them...)

People who say music is getting worse,no its not its people being greedy and not giving crap about good music and that is why its terrible. its the same crap it's always been just rehashed and diluted

The people who complain about American metal being "garbage" are usually people who listen to power metal.

Power metal is worst metal subgere.

Power metal has some most cheesy and annoying vocals of any metal subgenre.

Power metal makes nu metal look good.

I have more:

-Foster the People is a good band. Mark Foster is hawt

-Black Veil Brides is not metal.

-Despite my liking of Pop-Punk, Blink 182 is horrible.

-Pop-Punk isn't bad

-The mainstream song "Blurred Lines" is horrible and whoever keeps on requesting it on the radio needs to stop.

-Music shows (The X-Factor, The Voice, etc) are bad.

-I dislike most rap music.

-Eminem sucks.

-I'm not a fan of Fall Out Boy's new album

-Green Day's "Dookie" album is bad

My opinion: People dismissing entire genres for vague reasons are extremely ignorant (inb4 brostep. I haven't dismissed the entire genre, I just haven't found much I like, though I've found an artist or two that appeals to me)

alright...let's do this...

(remember...this is purely opinion...and is not meant to offend anyone...)

1.While I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I hate it when people think Electronic Dance Music (IE Dubstep/Trance/House/etc) is just music made with computers and requires no skill...I was a musician way before a DJ/producer,

playing "Real Instruments" and I can honestly say making EDM is waaaay harder...To play a song on piano/guitar etc takes sheet music, and knowing where chords are, and to create a song for piano (while still challenging) is still just one instrument...to make EDM, you have to create ALL the instruments, all the harmony, all the leads, all the vocal work, all the drums, EVERYTHING from scratch...and then you master it to sound professional quality.

That stuff is hard to do, and while I respect peoples opinion, my guess is that they just haven't delved into the genre as much and sorted through the trash, or they haven't attempted to make good electronic music themselves...

2.DJing isn't art...a lot of people say that, and again I believe differently. As a DJ of 10+ years, I can honestly say DJing is just as much of an art as a classical musician...just in a different way...But let me first be clear in saying...yes...I know there are jukebox djs and ableton users who just wave their arms in front of a mixer and get paid...but I'm not talking about those people...The ones I'm referring to are those who take creativity to a whole new level...those who do turntablism, live synths, wicked live FX modulations, the people who take their show on the road and add new flavour to it, all while reading the crowd and selecting their records carefully...Dj's like Eddie Halliwell, James Zabiela, or DJ Venom...Even Skrillex is talented in that way, as he is a regular musician, (he sings, does guitar, drums, etc) and is a live DJ act as well...

3.While I dislike most rap...I don't hate it at all...I prefer more poetic rap that has meaning...not just senseless boasting...plus can we please get an originally made creative beat behind the vocals? Seriously...I can make most rap beats in 10 minutes with my producing software...at least get a melody of some sort in there...or some good ambience...

4.I think very little of the modern mainstream top 40 music...of course there is still talent every once in a while...but for the most part, it's just the same subject matter over and over again...cheesy love song, boasting song, my girlfriend/boyfriend cheated on me break up song...and the instrumentals are so overused...there's hardly any variation...plus all the stealing these days from other artists...ripping their instrumentals and using them in their own productions...I prefer originality over "popular sounding music"...

5.I didn't like the 60s-70's rock music...the recording quality was always bad mixed and sounded too warm, the songs sounded very generic at times, and the vocals wern't always the most pleasant to listen to...there were a few songs here and there that I thought were really good, but no...I'm not a beatles fan, and I don't think zeppelin was a genius...But I will say they did have talent...no doubt about that...I just feel their work could have been drastically improved...I'll take good classical over classic rock anyday!

6.Beats headphones are some of the worst headphones in existence...the company is mega greedy, sue crazy, and deceitful...the headphones are made of cheap breakable materials, the sound quality is so bad that they won't even post the frequency response on the packaging, they're ridiculously overpriced, most of the designs are highly inadequate for normal usability and everyday abuse, plus their fanbase is full of people that wear them for looks and fashion rather than a device for good quality music...There are a ton of better alternatives (such as the shure srh440 for producers, and the sony mdr-xb300's for bassheads) at way lower pricing that people could get...but they get overshadowed by this greedy company...so yeah, end rant on that..

7.I hate ipods/iphones for music...the music quality is terrible on those...they don't support WAV or even 320kbps sound coding, so music is degraded every time it's put on an "i" device...I listen to my music on a psp, because it supports high quality playback, and has good durability/easy access replacement for parts...it's not as much music...but I think it still counts here...

8.I think we need to stop bringing up justin bieber...why?...because while I agree the dude is arrogant, obnoxious, and a poor musician, talking about him all the time on youtube comments/etc just makes him more prominent..if we forget about him and just leave it, he'll end up like rebecca black...she faded back into obscurity right?

9.I hate big music labels...If I was offered over 9 million dollars to sign my music with atlantic records, I'd laugh and walk away...most large labels are greedy creativity destroyers that destroy the artists creative vision, and seek only to make a profit from what they deem fitting of the artist...I feel we should move away from big labels, and join smaller ones, or start our own...sign people who deserve to be signed, and build an empire of incredible creativity and beauty...

10.I think Country (while I generally dislike it) takes a lot of talent to make, and I feel most of the artists are very well self-sustained, which is what I like to see in the music industry...but I enjoy it more if it's deep, dark, and ballad-ish...the twangy stuff kills my soul.

So there ya go...some opinions n' stuff...

That is the best post in this entire thread so far.

To fill character space I'm just gonna post some opinions.

- Bose headphones produce the best sound quality I've ever heard from any other headphones.

- For the people that believe EDM producers have no talent: In the post above me it explains why you do need talent, but what I want to say is: Does it really matter how music is made? It's created to be listened to and enjoyed, not analyzed and criticized. (unless the artist has requested a critique).

- I like Skrillex.

(liking Skrillex actually seems unpopular now).

- Glitch, French House, Electro House, Drumstep, Moombahton and DnB are best EDM genres.

- I hate Nightcore.

deadmau5 is a genius on par with some of the greatest composers in human history.

Using a double bass on a drum kit isn't absolutely necessary, nor do you need to know how to be good at it to be considered a "good drummer."

Yes, this. Skrillex actually has some musical merit, although his more recent music doesn't show this as much as his older tunes.

Even then, the melody to Scary Monsters is beautiful in my opinion. If you listen to it played on piano it's gorgeous.

his older stuff > than his newer stuff...however, his best work is unreleased...I can't give details at risk of being sued...but there's a few tracks floating on the interwebz that are really hard to get...but if you do...it showcases his true talent!

- Glitch, French House, Electro House, Drumstep, Moombahton and DnB are best EDM genres.

I like IDM, lolicore, and some dubstep (NOT brostep) :V

1.While I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I hate it when people think Electronic Dance Music (IE Dubstep/Trance/House/etc) is just music made with computers and requires no skill...I was a musician way before a DJ/producer,  playing "Real Instruments" and I can honestly say making EDM is waaaay harder...To play a song on piano/guitar etc takes sheet music, and knowing where chords are, and to create a song for piano (while still challenging) is still just one instrument...to make EDM, you have to create ALL the instruments, all the harmony, all the leads, all the vocal work, all the drums, EVERYTHING from scratch...and then you master it to sound professional quality.

Bt all dey dew iz push buttunz

Seriously...I can make most rap beats in 10 minutes with my producing software...at least get a melody of some sort in there...or some good ambience...

You should listen to Death Grips.

I sorta agree, but The Velvet Underground are amazing.

Beats are for design, nothing more really. If I had $300 to spend on headphones I'd look into Bose.

I like iPods, and I like to go to the record store to buy CDs.

Anyways,

I like emo A LOT, It's my second favorite genre of music.

That Fox song ain't that bad.

I like lolicore (as mentioned above)

And that's all for now.

ooh...here's a couple more

1.I enjoy speedcore/gabber/IDM...which I'm pretty sure NO ONE else on this forum likes...(it's got a smaller fanbase than acid house)

2.Everyone can like what they like...I'm not trying to bash anyone honestly...but I personally think bose aren't great either...not nearly as bad as beats...but still overpriced, flimsy, and unbalanced...they also feature ANC (Active noise cancellation) which lowers the quality of any music you play with them significantly, just so you don't hear as much outside noise...proper headphones have PNC (passive noise cancellation) which is based on the design of the headphones, to where they block out sound without the need for batteries etc...

3.I enjoy ambient/drone, which is a genre that probably has less of a following than speedcore...

4.I didn't like the equestria girls theme song remix...(Daniel Ingram while amazing needs to learn how to quantize a 4/4 beat...)

It also sounded too similar to the Alex S. Version

5.I hated DJ hero...it's nothing like real djing at all, and gave many people the impression, "oh! I played this game, now I'm a DJ" like the people who thought guitar hero made them rockstars...I guess it's sort of fun just as a standalone game, but it's not a new concept, and the mashups made me wanna hurl...

so yeah...there's 5 more...not as epic as the first 10...but still some random thoughts to throw out...

(Disclaimer...if you have different opinions on any of these topics...feel free to disagree...it's your right to your own opinion, and I won't berate you for it!)

There are a lot of people here who dig IDM, it's just that it has a very small fanbase in real life, though Aphex Twin was relatively big back in the 90's, Windowlicker and Come To Daddy had actually made it onto Mtv.
