I overanalyze. It's kind of my thing.
So when the episode "Apple Family Reunion" aired, I started contemplating on how the Apple Family's family tree would look. This conundrum had a lot of facts regarding names, yet very little actual information about the family as a whole. Recently I jotted this down:

(Names of unnamed characters are based on fan names in the My Little Wiki)

Horizontal lines mean married/couple/had a filly/colt together, while vertical/diagonal lines are referring to a parent/child relationship. As you plainly can see, the tree is far from complete, and I hope future episodes can fill in some of the gaps, or alternatively add new ones.

There's also this alternative version:

This is referring to the possibility of Applejack and Apple Bloom being step-siblings half-siblings. Solely based on Babs Seed being referred to as "your cousin" and never "our cousin" by Applejack. No other pieces of evidence to support that, but it's certainly a possibility!

Now I turn to the forum for feedback and opinions. I'm certaily interested in having a discussion about this.

Ps: If anypony knows about some kind of "family tree program" that I can put my data into, that'd be appreciated. Paint looks okay and all, but... meh.

Secretly enjoys the pun in the title :P

This actually is pretty close to my recently acquired headcanon that Apple Bloom is adopted from a different part of the family than Applejack and Big Macintosh, so that's interesting. Odds of it being true are small, but I didn't think that anyone else thought that way. Cool. I'm personally curious how Babs' family gets along with the Oranges, as they are potentially related and from roughly the same area. They could be from different branches of the family though, I suppose. Thanks for putting this together.

What about all the apples mentioned in s1e1 and Apple Family reunion?

Regarding the Apple Bloom thing I'm not so sure she was adopted because of her being Apple jacks Sister mentioned over and over and I think adoption doesn't really fit for me :P (nothing wrong with it I guess as a theory though :) ).

Maybe you can use excel instead and maybe lay it out a bit differently?

You could then also list all of the family members down the side!

Ah, pony genealogy. There was a program out there at one point called Family Tree Maker - it has been around many years, and you may be able to find one of the older versions available for free.

I don't necessarily think Apple Bloom is adopted, but that Applejack and her could share one parent, rather than two.

Oops, seems I meant to say half-sister. My bad derpy_emoticon1.png

Hm.. that is a good point. Though I suppose Manehatten is a big metropolitan area, there is a possibilty that the two families are closer than I thought. This tweet: https://twitter.com/orangemeerkat/status/274233879198568449 seems to prove that they are not direct family at least. There is however a possibility that the tree looks more like this:

It would make Babs the Oranges' niece, as well as adding another sibling to an unknown parent's side. This really is what would make the most sense. Yeah, this is my main headcanon now. Thank you for the input laugh.png
