I think I'll nominate Antennas to Hell by Slipknot. It has all their greatest hits, like Psychosocial, (Sic), and Wait and Bleed.

I think Vol. 3 and Iowa are the best Slipknot albums.

Speaking of Vol. 3, I want to nominate that if it hasn't been nominated yet. I don't think it has.

I'll nominate another Philip Glass work, "Satyagraha."

The second opera in Glass' "Portrait Trilogy" after "Einstein on the Beach," it's a much more... um... operatic opera than "Einstein" is, featuring actual opera singers and a more full symphony sound as opposed to its more barebones predecessor.

It's about Gandhi, too (more or less), which is cool.

Hmm... seeing as how people are nominating Slipknot, I'm going to even things out by nominating a The Bleeding by Cannibal Corpse. There's a bit of a rivalry between Cannibal Corpse and Slipknot fans here on the internet, and it's not a very pretty one either.blink.png

I'd like to nominate The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga. If you compare it to competing albums at the time of its release and the overall period of music in which it dropped, it really is a fresh piece of music. Considering Gaga wrote every song on the EP, I think that furthers its significance in the 2000s decade of music. Bad Romance, Telephone, and Alejandro topped charts everywhere, with Bad Romance and Telephone becoming two of the best-selling singles of all time (Bad Romance recently attained the Diamond ranking, selling 10x Platinum, meaning 10 million copies).

Bad Romance's video was arguably the most culturally impactful video of the 2000s. Alejandro sparked controversy over its gay-influenced innuendoes, and Telephone came close to matching Bad Romance's success with its seven-minute film featuring Beyonce and Gaga going on a murder rampage.

The EP isn't just about the typical cliches of the 2000s (sex, money, drugs), it's a commentary of the underbelly of fame and new liberal developments in the 21st century. Dance in the Dark details a girl's insecurity about her body, So Happy I Could Die details Gaga's fear of addiction and alcoholic influence, and Teeth chronicles Lady Gaga's fear of the truth.

Perfect EP, honestly.

I think I'll nominate some nu-metal, since it's what everyone else is doing. Mudvayne. "L.D. 50." The most three-dimensional experience possible with a genre like this, where there's so much shallowness.

That's because a lot of death metal fans think everything has to be brutal death metal or else it sucks. Which I really don't get.

But it's the other way around too. A lot of Slipknot fans (or people in general, really) talk smack about Cannibal Corpse. I've listened to some Slipknot songs before, I didn't like them but I'm not going to go around starting fights with Slipknot fans.

Well it's really the fanboys that talk shit and start fights and stuff. Plus I don't see why people would even compare those bands, they are completely different genres.

I'm not sure either, Cannibal Corpse is a death metal band and Slipknot is a nu metal band. One thing I've seen is that they both call each other gimmicky; Cannibal Corpse has their gory album covers and Slipknot has their costumes.

Well when it comes down to it, it's about the music, not the image. Too many people base their opinions of bands based solely on how the band looks.

Exactly! Everyone immediately passes judgement on an artist/band based on a preconceived notion, or their style/image without first listening to what they fully have to offer musically. It's annoying.

Comparing Cannibal Corpse to Slipknot is the metal equivalent to comparing Skrillex to Deadmau5, it just doesn't work at all. But anyways it's been some time since I've nominated anything so why not get Vicious Delicious by Infected Mushroom up on there. It's my favorite album that they did.

And that's exactly why people don't take the music that I like seriously.

Well yea, they're not even in the same subgenre.

BTW: I don't consider GNR to be Metal

Neither do I.

I'm not a techno fan, but I find Minimal Techno to be pretty darn good, specially when mixed with Dubstep :D

Therefore, I'll nominate "Three EPs" by Shackleton

My next nomination is the mother of all sample-based music that's been made since 1996, DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing....". 95% of what is on this album is pre-existing material; there's even a Metallica sample on one track, but it's so well hidden you don't even notice.

I'm going to have to go with "A Hundred Highways" from Johnny Cash, even 4+ years after I discovered it it's one of my favorite albums. Here's a(unfortunately missing a couple songs) playlist:

"You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that."

I nominate 2001 by Dr. Dre. I haven't seen anyone put rap like there you go. The album has great flow and was actual rap before all mainstream rap music became just about money and women. My favorite song out of the album. http://youtu.be/dmAP6h_5EoQ

Thank you for the signature Jenny Wakeman.
